This was a very convenient tour out of Nashville. The bus was comfortable and driver very courteous and knowledgeable. The rides both to and back from Franklin were enjoyable. The three included Franklin tours were very educational - I liked that they were all related to the specific battle of Franklin as there was a lot of information to absorb. Time for lunch was just right. Each of the guides for the three tours were great as well. Both my wife and I had a great time. The experience left me with a very solemn sense of the grace of God upon our nation during such a terrible time of our history.
For those driving to Nashville, I suggest reserving parking in advance to save money. I was able to use parking.com to book a 12 hour parking for $21, which was half the cost of driving in and paying. This left enough time to get dinner in Nashville before driving home.

The Carter and Carnton houses were excellent. The guides were exceptional and knew their history. The Lotz house was less than expected. The guide knew the history but only shared a couple of bits of information in each room and then asked if there were any questions. If a question was asked, he knew the answer. So why didn’t he just share it as part of the tour. The other problem with Lotz was they kept adding late comers to the group. What started with 15 people ended with 25 and the rooms were very crowded. There was very little of the Lotz house the had anything to do with the Civil War. You could drive to Franklin and tour Cater and Carnton houses, no parking issues, and save $60 a person, and not be rushed to get back to the bus on time. It cost $35 to park two blocks away from Greyline terminal. There’s even more money saved.

We took the Civil War tour and it was great. Julie our bus driver was a real treat. She added stories and interesting information in addition to information provided by tour guides within the homes. The guides within the homes were personable and their knowledge of the homes and their histories was truly impressive. Would highly recommend this tour.

We went on the 11/7/22 tour. It started with our driver, he was amazing how he could drive, talk the entire time telling us names, dates and background of generals and all the people involved in the Franklin Battle. When we got to the Carnton home, that woman was so knowledgeable again extremely detailed on the home's residents background, but also the battle that went on around the home and the cemetery on site. Finally, the guy that gave our tour at the Carter Home was fantastic, so detailed with names, dates he told the stories as if you were there witnessing the battles and the emotions of the people in the basement of the Carter home while the 5-hour battle was going on outside the home. When we walked into the Carter Farm Office at the end of the tour and saw the bullet holes in the wall it brought the whole battle into perspective and had an immediate emotional effect on the magnitude of the battle. The lady at the Lotz home was OK as well. To summarize, it was the best narrated tour, the most knowledgeable guides I've ever experienced and over all the best tour ever taken. Excellent job by all.

Somehow my studies of the Civil War omitted the very consequential Battle of Franklin. This omission was remedied by the three fantastic docents who bought the battle to life and provided histories of the occupants of the three homes we visited. The presentations were dramatic and, I must say, it was quite an emotional experience. If you love history, you will love this tour.

We enjoyed learning about the Battle of Franklin and wished we could have taken pictures in the houses. While inside the houses, the rooms felt crowded because our tour group was very full. The tour guides were very knowledgeable.

This tour surpassed our expectations! Roger was driver and tour guide - he was fantastic. Carnton and the Carter House were excellent; the Lodz House a little less so. However, the tour of downtown Franklin was superb. It is good to know that the Franklin Battlefield Trust is still buying up land to restore the battlefield. Down the road, I could see a battlefield tour focusing on the battle itself, along with the stories of individuals from both sides of the conflict. Next time in Franklin, I must visit O Be Joyful.

Overall, the tour was very insightful and educational. Terry was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions posed to him. Our only complaint is that we felt like we were rushed at the first two homes. We would have liked to have had more time to explore the grounds at the Carton and Carter houses. As well, there wasn’t much time to eat lunch and shop as the description of the tour states. We would recommend the tour to anyone who has an interest in the Civil War but plan on it being a no nonsense tour and be on time for the bus.

We had never heard about this pivotal Civil War battle but learned of the Lotz House when we visited nearby Nashville. Very interesting home and back story! And the battle that took place in this small town was instrumental in the outcome of the war. The docent staff were amazing. They were so knowledgeable and presented the information in such an entertaining way.

Wonderful tour! The tour leaders at each stop were extremely knowledgeable about each location. Our bus driver was also very good- he shared a lot of historical information and I learned a lot about the area history from him. He even pointed out areas where stars lived, performed and performed. great tour!
