- pju39010 contributionsGreat town to visitDavid did a wonderful narrated tour about Fredericksburg. This helped us to determine what we wanted to do and see for the rest of the day. So much history for a small town.Written 21 February 2024
- rickz5400 contributionsMichelle was fantastic!Michelle was fantastic. She set a great tone for our trip. She knew the type of information that you would not find on a normal google search. The tour proceeded despite only five people on the trip, and we were upgraded (at no cost) to the boutique wine experience (cush van and high end wineries). The food was good, wine was great, and by the end we were all friends. As someone that does did not know much about Texas grapes, growing, or winemaking in general, I could not have enjoyed this trip the same way without Michelle as a tour guide. I learned a lot and the experience was more than worth the price.Written 20 February 2024
- M3740SHbenb0 contributionsJust a designated driver and deli lunch, not worth itBest case scenario, this isn’t a true “experience” it’s just a designated driver for three wineries, plus a deli box lunch(not bad). So, definitely not worth it, Uber is an option locally. To make it worse, the communication ahead of time was poor, they asked me to change my chosen tour date once (we could not change). Also the website gave us option to have pickup at our VRBO, which we selected and had printed on our ticket, but at pickup time they called me and asked me why I wasn’t “there” lol. Person on phone made me feel like it was my fault at first, but then when I pointed out that we had chosen VRBO pickup, she said, “oh it was an error on the website…so it’s ok, it was nobody’s fault…” We drove to their spot (3 blocks away from my VRBO) and still weren’t late, we didn’t leave for 20 more minutes due to half the group was told it started at 11, not 10:30. Then because we were late (I assume?) the wineries didn’t have designated spots for our large group, they kinda squeezed us in and did their tastings, so it felt kinda meh. To be fair, our designated driver was a super nice guy and apologetic Like I said nobody from the tour was at all helpful or knowledgeable about wine etc, so I have no idea what we paid for Wineries (and winery staff knowledge and helpfulness) were actually pretty good, but I’ll review them separately on their sites. Bottom line: save your money, get a designated driver with Uber ($15-20 per trip) and pay for individual tastings yourself ($15-30 pp) and several wineries have little bistros for your lunch options.Written 18 February 2024

- traveltalk5050 contributionsFredericksberg Rocks! We only had a day in Frederickberg and wanted to see as much as possible. We parked at the Wolfe Street parking garage so it was only a ten minute walk to the visitor center where the trolley picks you up. There are public washrooms behind the center which were clean. Since the tour lasts 1 hour 15 minutes, you may want to use them. Heidi did an excellent job driving and explaining the history of Fredericksberg. We drove by beautiful homes, different neighbourhoods, civil war sites, various museums as well as the river. We learned of some of the people who helped make Fredericksberg what it is today. Time flew by and we were never bored. We know we will have to come back again to further explore this beautiful town with 40 blocks of buildings on the historical list. Great tour and well worth the cost. You can book on line in advance or in the visitor center.Written 30 December 2023

We chose this higher priced wine tour because the reviews indicated it was superior to other options with knowledgeable guides. While 2 of the 3 wineries selected were very nice, the rest of the experience was lacking.
We arrived at the first winery at about 11:15 am and were told we should eat our box lunch that was included and enjoy some wine (which we had to pay for) until our food and wine pairing event started at 12:15. We chose to skip the box lunch given the early time and given we would be eating again in a short time. The visits to the remaining two wineries seemed better scheduled with hosts waiting for our group at each.
Our guide was nice enough. He, unfortunately, was not all that knowledgeable about wines or that engaging. He would have been totally satisfactory on a lower cost tour but was not what we expected on this more elite tour.
All in all, it was a nice day, mainly because of the gorgeous weather, the other nice couples on the tour, and some good wine. I would do another Fredericksburg wine tour. I would just save my money and go with a lower cost one.

This was a great experience despite COVID-19. Rebecca and the wineries are really trying to keep it interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our day!
Our tour included lunch and I need to eat Gluten Free. No problem. Rebecca found a way to accommodate my needs and made it no big deal.
Fredricksburg was awesome even in really hot weather and I appreciate how the businesses are adapting to the current situation. Unrelated to the tour, if you want to visit the Pacific Naval Museums you need to book ahead because with c19 they are limiting admittance.

Rebecca made it such an enjoyable day. We visited 3 winery tastings, all with a different experience... a behind the scenes look at the making of wine, a very special food pairing with wine and at the third winery she shared her expertise on the art of wine tasting. A delicious lunch was included. We had our choice from a lunch selection provided to us the day before and it was served and ready for us on a patio at one of the wineries. Rebecca was so knowledgeable on the history of each of the wineries and the Fredericksburg area. It was a small group which made it feel very personable and attentive and I would definitely recommend booking this tour !!

Thank you for detailing your experience with others. So many (me included) depend on reviews from previous guests - and your review is so very helpful to people who are choosing a tour in the Texas Wine Region. Thanks, as well, for mentioning Rebecca. She will be very happy to know that you appreciated her as a guide.

Absolutely outstanding experience! We had such a great time! I’m going to lay it on thick here because I want everyone to be as happy and relaxed as we are.
I implore you to book now, this is the tour of your Hill Country dreams. There are so many options available- you can learn the rich history of Fredericksburg or take the best wine tour in the South. They do weddings, parties, pretty much anything you can think to do.
Our guide was very knowledgeable, as she unfolded the tale of Fredericksburg’s fascinating culture- the buildings, the settlers, the art, the Germans. She also had many suggestions for us to have the best vacation. She knew all the best places to eat, shop, and even shared the folklore of Enchanted Rock (this hike is a must!).
Thank you for the memories, Fredericksburg Texas Tours!

Loved this Boutique Wine Experience. We showed up into town with no plans and found this tour in the local magazine. We didn’t really know what to expect, but the Boutique Winery Experience surpassed all of our expectations.
Rebecca was our Host for the day and she was able to educate & entertain a bunch of wine novices for an entire afternoon. We drank, ate, and laughed our way through three wineries and most of the Fredericksburg Hill Country. She was able to help us understand and enjoy the wines in a way we had never experienced before.
We are looking forward to visit Fredericksburg in the future, and will make sure to plan another tour with this company and Rebecca.
Thanks again for a perfect day!

I was a little hesitant to book because the price was more than I wanted to spend, but the experience was well worth it! Our guide, Rebecca, is so knowledgeable about the history of Fredericksburg and Texas wine production. We were in a group of four which made the tour feel private and relaxed. Rebecca asked us about our wine preferences and assisted in selecting ones that she felt we would enjoy testing. We started with a winery that presented a food and wine pairing, then went to another winery for a tasting, and finally to a winery where we received a tour of the facility and were given a sample tasting from one of the barrels. The last winery is one of a few that utilizes a grape harvest machine. It was fascinating to hear Rebecca explain how it works and saves time on production. This was the first time we visited Fredericksburg. We plan to return yearly and will recommend Fredericksburg Tours to all our friends and family. A big “Thank you” to Rebecca for a truly memorable day!

Thank you for your detailed review! Our goal is to provide an immersive experience with our tours - and during the Covid pandemic we are extra careful to create safe experiences as well, like limiting our group numbers and following all protocol for safety. Wineries have been seriously impacted by the loss of revenue during the pandemic and every tour, and every guest we have, helps these small boutique wineries remain viable. We love being a part of the industry, and we love that you enjoyed your day! Thank you again for the review!

We will definitely be looking to come back. Savannah was our guide and was very knowledgeable. We actually booked the trolley, but since it did not fill we were "upgraded" and I'm glad we were because this tour gave us more than the trolley does for a price that makes it worth while without a doubt.

My wife and I had a good time on the boutique wine tour this past weekend, but there’s room for improvement. Due to low attendance, our tour was combined with a different tour (which we didn’t find out about until arrival). This resulted in our stops having to accommodate to the other tour.
The first stop (Kuhlman) was fantastic and our assigned Kuhlman guide there was very knowledgeable and friendly. By far our favorite stop of the tour.
During our second stop (William Chris) our guide/driver came in to tell us we were running late and had to hurry up or else we’d have issues with our next stop. The winery was very busy so our tasting was taking longer than normal, which isn’t our fault, but our driver kept trying to rush us and hovered right next to us while we tried to enjoy the last 2 tastings here, which we ended up having to chug. Didn’t get to enjoy this stop at all due to the rushed nature and feeling like we were the ones falling behind (despite us being at the mercy of the winery).
Last stop was at Arch Ray, which had nice wines, but we didn’t get any real tasting experience here. We got our own wines from the bar and brought them back to our table. No tasting notes. No description or history of the wine. Could have done this same thing at any wine bar in town. I think we stopped here because of the nature of the other tour being combined.
Our driver/guide was friendly but didn’t seem to have a very in-depth knowledge of wine or provide much value at each stop, other than being our designated driver.
Overall for what we paid for the tour, just didn’t feel like it was above and beyond what we could have done on our own or with a cheaper tour. Might be better when it’s busier or with a different driver/guide (at least based on the reviews on here).

Rebecca was an outstanding guide. The blue van was comfortable. The group of about 10 was the perfect size. We did 3 small boutique wineries, each cool and different, with great tasting rooms, scenery and ambiance. The pours were quite generous, with knowledgeable hosts and Rebecca contributed more good insight. The day passed quickly. Great service and great value and most importantly great wine.

This was our first trip to Fredericksburg, so we were unfamiliar with any of the wineries in the area. The wine tour was an easy way to get to know the area. The first stop, Kuhlman’s was great and featured the best wines. We were offered their herbs de Provence almonds, which were delicious. The second stop, Untamed, offered an educational tour of the barrel room and wine process, plus had some pretty decent pizza. As a non-meat eater, it was disappointing to have all of the options of pizza offered to feature a meat of some kind. The third and final stop was Aires Ele Vineyards, which is kind of a misnomer, considering it has only been open for a few months and doesn’t actually have a vineyard. Texas wines were new for us, and we were not familiar with the mineral taste that is present due to the limestone in the soil. The best wine of the day was the California wine served at Untamed. The best Texas wine was from Kuhlman. Our driver was knowledgeable about the history of the area and offered interesting narration throughout the day. The bus was clean and comfortable. I’d recommend the trip to anyone new to the area, but make sure your trip includes a visit to Kuhlman.

Hi, is this tour just tastings at the 3 wineries or are they actual tours of the winery and vineyards?
jhcc1
Fredericksburg, TX221 contributions
it depends on the season and whether or not the vineyard staff are doing tours - some times of year (such as harvest or bottling) the staff at the winery/vineyard do not allow tours as they are extremely busy
What are the names of the wineries we will be touring on our visit that has been scheduled

I always ask our guests what their preferences are in wine tastings, that's important! Because wineries have different availabilities, I cannot promise that we will specifically visit your preferences, unless you create a private group booking. Our public tours are subject to all involved, and to the openings at the individual wineries. When we do a Private booking for just one group, we do our best to offer your specific requests and if we cannot meet those, we work with you on the available selections that you prefer. Thanks for asking!

Hi Rebecca,
This my first time visiting the city with my wife and wanted to see what time the tours start. We are doing our anniversary there and wont be there till 1pm or 2pm,

Rebecca can tailor a tour to your needs. Each winery took about an hour on our tour. We were gone all day (10 - 4) went to five wineries and had lunch.

I would like to buy a gift card for my mother-in-law to schedule when she is ready.
