- cherylw9630 contributionsLovely tasting experienceWe had a lovely wine tasting here. $15 per person for the tasting of 6 wines and you could choose which ones. The $15 was redeemable on purchase. It was a very pleasant experience and great value. The estate is just magnificent.Written 31 August 2024
- Deanne C0 contributionsA place you need to visit! We called into this winery on our drive around the Barossa, just to look around, and we were very impressed with the place. Lots of beautiful things to see - crafts, glass blowing, leather crafts, hat making, and the Vasse products on sale were amazing! We thought we would do a wine tasting, while we were there. Maddie was extremely helpful, and it was because of her personality and friendliness that we decided to purchase some delicious wines. Thank you Maddie for a delightful afternoon.Written 23 July 2024

- emmah02180 contributionsAmazing trip and staff! This place was amazing! The land is beautiful, and the buildings were great. We stopped in in the afternoon for a wine tasting, and it was a lovely experience. We felt very looked after, and enjoyed the laid back but professional vibes. Definitely would recommend a stop here, even for just an hour to do some wine tasting.Written 20 June 2024
- keshd20180 contributionsPoor serviceHeard a lot about this Vineyard and it an impressive place. The food at the restaurant was incredible. Unfortunately staff at the Cellar Door ruined our experience. We were told to go and view a crappy gallery while we waited for the wine tasting event hough we had a booking. A large group after us without a booking were treated better. After being ignored by Cellar Door staff, we left without the wine tasting. Will return for the food and the atmosphere, but please improve the service at ur eine tasting.Written 15 April 2024
- 953SueT0 contributions"WOW!! Beautiful Seppeltsfield Estate Barossa Valley"WOW!! How beautiful is Seppeltsfield Estate. My husband and I only had coffee at Octeine which is their onsite small cafe at the entrance (could be so much better) but we also came to have a stroll around the estate. They have an onsite restaurant Fino which looked amazing and also the cellar door. Onsite is a very tasteful shop Vasse Virgin, which is a natural olive oil producer. I spent so much time here sampling their products. The displays and decor are excellent along with the customer service. The stop here is a must when visiting the estate.Written 2 April 2024
- alexwhenhetravels0 contributionsGreat stop for a quick port tasting.Stopped off for an hour at this beautiful location. A quick peruse of the art gallery was followed by a helpful member of staff being able to arrange a shorter version of their normal wine tasting to focus on their fortified wines. David was extremely welcoming and knowledgable (especially as it was only his second day!) After trying four of their fortified wines, we moved onto their skincare barn and had a great time trying out their products in their huge sink. A quick coffee from their coffee shop and we had to hit the road. Would highly recommend for a visit, even if you don’t give the wine tasting a go! For info, the wine tasting was free if you bought some wine. Otherwise, it was advertised at $15 per person (which gave you at least 8 wines… we only tried their 4 fortified wines so don’t quote me!). They also offer a tasting of their 100 year old port for $100!Written 29 March 2024

- ArghONaught0 contributionsWorth a stop to have been thereThis is the quintessential Barossa winery famous for having vintage tawny for every year for over a century. Their wines are better than average but IMO not great for our tastes. however even their cheapest Para tawny is pretty good. The staff in the 'cellar door' were attentive and informative but at the end of the day it is a big operation and not so personal. There are a few other bits in the complex like a gallery, gift shop, etc, restaurant and 'cafe'. The 'cafe' should be an embarrassment as the winery is iconic but the 'producers platter' is not generous and is served in a cardboard tray. Inside seating is more nasty camp ground than cafe; it was 38C when we visited and in contrast most days sitting outside would be 'a moment'. - Give the 'cafe' a wide miss unless you get a platter with eyes wide open. It might win a gong for one of the most uninspiring platters ever from any wine region. On the way you probably will pass the Seppelt family mausoleum. A few steps climb to get to it but nice views.Written 9 March 2024
- sistevens820 contributionsMust Do Experience/ExceptionalOur guide Ellouise was exceptional. Her knowledge and enthusiasm on the history made the Centenary experience unforgettable. Thank you Ellouise. Then the restaurant staff at Fino exceeded our expectations with their service and selections of food and wine to suit our last minute changes to the set menu. Nothing was too difficult.Written 9 January 2024

Suzanne was our tour guide and well versed in the history of the Seppelt family and the history of the vineyard. The barrel room and the innovative thinking of Benno Seppelt to preserve a vintage from each year was amazing, as were the Pictures we had taken, tasting our birth year wine. The only disappointment was the remainder of our tour group took the tasting option, assisted by staff member Ned! His foul language in dealing with our party was atrocious and seriously needs to be addressed. It left a sour note on our day.

An awesome experience right from the start. We were running late for our "experience" which included a tour of the cellars followed by an 8 course meal with wine matching. Even though we were over an hour late, the staff took care of us and treated us like VIPs.
Big shout out to Aaron who took us on our tour and talked through the history of the vineyard and the cellars and then introduced us to our options. Either a 100-year-old port or a port from our birth year. Wow! I cannot describe the amazing flavors of my birth year port, but let me tell you it was unbelievable (to buy it is AU$10,000 per 100ml and we had 15ml taste as part of the experience).
Afterwards we ventured into the restaurant where we had an incredible meal. Starting with fresh bread, butter and pickled vegetables. This was followed by fish, pumpkin, duck, pork, wagyu beef and finished up with a creme-caramel and cake. Each dish was paired perfectly with wine that complemented the food, and it was all explained to us in detail.
Completely worth the trip and highly recommended.

To see the barrel room with product dating back to the early 1800’s was amazing. To then taste the tawny made in my birth year (1955 ) and from our year of marriage (1974 ) was like turning the clock back in time.
Well worth every dollar of the price for an experience unequaled any where in the world.
A national treasure that must be preserved for future generations.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property and the Taste Your Birth Year experience. It really is an amazing legacy that Benno Seppelt created back in 1878 for us to all benefit from today.
We feel the same way, this is a national treasure that Seppeltsfield, as custodians, will continue to protect.
Kind regards,
Nicole.

Enjoyable informative tour with the history of the Seppelt family and vineyards. It was interesting to taste and appreciate the different tastes between each year of port. Our guide, whilst knowledgeable, used inappropriate language that was offensive to us.

Wonderful to see so much investment going back into a traditional icon of the South Australian and Australian wine industry. Full marks to the whole Seppeltsfield team for their enduring dedication and persistence in restoring this magnificent facility and not selling out when times were tough.
The tour was superb, the guide a delight and the wine an elixir of the Gods.

WWe were on a scenic tour and this was winery number 3 that day. I was pleasanly surprised at how beautiful the outside areas were and spent some time looking around the area. The palm tree avenue added to the first impression.
We were taken upstairs to taste port from the year of our birth.Unfortunately because of bad knees and feet I couldn't get up there. The young man very kindly brought me down my port to the ground floor afterwards which was much appreciated.
My whole experience at seppelts was pleasant.
I noticed they have a cafe there for visitors in the garden which looked lovely also

We wanted to taste port from the year we were born and were advised we would have to do the tour. We were told it was an amazing tour that we would remember forever. We paid $150 each so $300.
The guide told us about the photos in the gallery that is accessible to anyone. We then went upstairs to a room with all the barrels. He told us a bit of the history then we tasted the port. He then took some photos of us. All up it took about 15 minutes. We were disgusted and yes we will remember it but for all the wrong reasons. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Felt quite humbled to be tasting the history of Tawny at Seppeltsfield. Fantastic experience which I highly recommend. Was able to taste and compare two tasting years (20 years apart). Very knowledgeable host (Suzanne) who gave us the history of the family and was able to answer all our questions.

We were wondering on the drive up the history behind the winery and the port. The history lesson was very interesting. Tasting, smelling and seeing the port from our dates was birth was amazing. 1963 and 1960. Rich, syrupy and bold. Then were able to compare the colour with the other much younger people in our group was also interesting for them and us. We would recommend this great tasting tour.
