We will hand feed and meet the alpacas close up, followed by a tour of our small fiber processing mill. See how finished products are made and enjoy an opportunity to shop in our alpaca boutique.

      Our First Post-Pandemic Groupn
This was a delightful spring outing. The place and animals are beautiful and the tour had a good amount of information without being so densely detailed as to be tedious. The rugs, accessories, yarns and other items in the boutique are of excellent quality, and the owners are gracious and knowledgeable hosts.

      The perfect pandemic-friendly outing!
I took a group of teens, some of whom had autism. They loved it! The hosts are so welcoming, flexible, caring and inclusive of all kinds of people, we felt right at home. This was the first time in my 17 yr old son’s life, that he enjoyed 2 hrs of an activity without mentioning his passion (movies)! He was interested in the alpacas, the chickens, the processing of the fiber, and checking out the gift shop. I would recommend this place to anyone! It’s the perfect safe pandemic group activity.

      Alpacas Galore
My fiancé and I went to visit La Vida Alpacas for my birthday (today) and had the most awesome time! I love llamas and alpacas and today I was more than happy to put llamas aside. David and Jean were informative and answered any questions we had about alpacas as well as some we didn't even think of. They took us through the mill and explained how the alpaca fibers were worked into amazingly durable yarn from start to finish. They also explained how their rugs were made and how the fibers were felted into, well, felt. The girls that were working the fibers didn't mind that we were there and were more than happy to show us what they were doing. The little boutique is amazing as well! Small but full of everything that an alpaca lover would want! From jewelry to clothing, to handmade rugs to yarn and so much more! I would have gladly spent all day there. Thank you so much to Tahoma Fiber Mill and La Vida Alpacas for an amazing birthday! We will definitely be back!

      Alpaca my bags right now!
(Sorry- couldn’t resist the cheesy title!) Husband bought us this as a unique date experience- so fun! If you like alpacas, you’ll love it. We met with several beautiful, cute, funny, adorable, and of course, fuzzy alpacas! They provide feed for you to give them, and they eat it out of your hand. Very little danger of biting as they only have lower teeth (?) and they didn’t spit even a little. The hosts graciously allowed me to feed the ones who wanted them some apples I brought (not all know how to eat apples but some do and it was so fun!). You get to pet Tilly, the friendliest one of the lot, but my personal favorite is Tilly, the underdog. You’ll hear all kinds of stories about them if you ask- the hosts are animated storytellers. Next, we went into the work building and learned about how the fibers are processed. That part was less of a draw for me as I am really not mechanically inclined at all, but was very informative. The tour ended in their very nice gift shop. I bought a small rug and like it so much that I put it by my bed so my feet are very happy when they hit the ground first thing in the a.m. If there’s one suggestion I have for the proprietors, maybe have a hands on aspect near the end - like knitting demo or weaving or “draw annalpaca in 5 minutes.” I bet kids (and some grown ups!) would LOVE a coloring page- then you have a little promo item for them to hang on to. Just a thought. Thanks for the great tour and maybe we will see you at Alpacapalooza!

      We had a great experience!
Jean and David were so awesome and kind. They spent a ton of time with us showing us the amazing farm they’ve built. The alpacas were sweet and gentle and their dog, snowflake, was the star of the show. Their shop is full of amazing things. Come prepared to buy one of the adorable fluffy bears! Thank you Jean and David for an amazing date!

      GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Fantastic time...Dave and Jean are the perfect "Hosts" and you can tell they LOVE what they are doing. This was a surprise outing for my GF who is into Yarns,Knitting,etc...not my thing..BUT..they sure held my attention for the 90+ minutes we were there...Very educational for the non-knitter,and a great afternoon for the knitter in your life,or the kids, since you get to "interact" with all their "Pets". Well worth the 1:30 drive and highly recommended. Thanks Dave and Jean.

      Tacoma Vista Fiber Mill
Great experience with interesting and informative hosts. Feeding the alpacas was fun. The animals were calm and tolerated us in their space. W The fiber mill tour give a good overall picture of animal to product process, with an opportunity to purchase fiber, roving, yarn or commercial/handmade products. Would go again with my 9 year old niece; she would love it.

Just and Amazing and Educational time! The Alpacas are so amazing.
What an awesome and fascinating time my wife and I had at the Mill! David and Jean were not only great and incredibly knowledgable, they are passionate about the Alpacas and love what they do. And EVERYONE would have a greater appreciation for something as seemingly simple as yarn to make rugs or clothing if they knew what it took to get it from the Alpaca to a nice, warm scarf to keep you warm. We will be gifting trips to our three married children. They will love it!!! And to Tilly the Alpaca, Thanks for letting us hug and pet you :-) Thank You David & Jean. Michael & Marina

      Quite interesting...
3 generations attended and we enjoyed every aspect of the tour; from feeding the alcapas, to learning all about the fiber process, from sheering to final product. This farm does it all and the owners are very welcoming. We had a good time and would recommend to anyone interested in fiber milling or alpacas.

      Fun and interesting tour.
Owners Jean and David gave us a tour including getting the opportunity to feed and pet the alpacas. They were so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The tour of the mill so very interesting...learning how they turn the alpaca "fur" into beautiful products. Totally recommend this tour to animal lovers!

      Excellent alpaca farm experience
We had a wonderful time with owners Jean and David at the alpaca farm. We fed and pet the friendliest of alpacas, learned a lot about fiber production, and enjoyed looking around the gift shop at lovely handmade goods. It was all very instagram-able.

      Fun and Educational Trip!
This was a fantastic opportunity to get to see and learn more about alpacas! My daughter and I not only got to pet and feed them, we got to see how their fur is made into some wondrous products. If you want a fun adventure this is a great option! Jean and David were excellent hosts. We enjoyed their wealth of knowledge and information.

      Amazing people, alpacas, and tour
Surprised my girlfriend with a tour here as she loves any chance to get up close with animals. As soon as we entered their farm she went from "where are we?" to "oh my god there are so many alpaca". 32 in fact, we soon learned. As others have said, the owners were the most amazing guides. You can really tell when someone loves what they do - they gush about the animals and are happy to educate you no matter how little you know. From meeting the alpacas, to feeding them, to petting them, to watching how they interact, it was all great. We were happily surprised to be the only ones on our tour, and didn't feel rushed at all. The fiber mill part of the tour was also super interesting to see and understand a rather complex processing setup all in one small room. In their shop, I was surprised that the prices for their rugs were incredibly reasonable. I didn't need one today, but I'm sure I'll be back at some point for one. We bought some smaller items including some yarn, which my sister was thrilled to receive as a gift (and she had actually already heard of Tahoma Vista Fiber!). Up along with Big Island Bees in Hawaii, this ranks as one of my favorite tours because of the passion the owners have for their craft.

We had been to an alpaca farm in Pennsylvania before, and really enjoyed it. However, the visit to Tahoma Vista Fiber Mill and LaVida Alpaca Farm was the best experience that we have ever had.

From the moment that we arrived and met David, Jean and their 3 hour old baby alpaca, to the time when we left, we felt welcomed. Their passion for their animals and the production process is contagious!

After feeding and petting the adult alpacas, we were take to the mill building where we learned and observed the process of cleaning, spinning, and turning the alpaca’s wool into a finished coil rug.

We are now more in love with alpacas than ever. The farm is off of the beaten path (as it should be), but totally worth seeking out! 💕

This would be a wonderful experience for families with children.

If you are in any way interested in fiber arts. Go. If you just want to be outdoors and enjoy nature. Go. If you are in need of cuteness overload. Definitely, go! From the sheering process to finished product, this tour will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about how to get from a field full of cute, fluffy animals to beautiful, handcrafted garments and so much more. It is obvious that the couple who own and run this business are passionate about what they do and the life they lead.
Every moment of my experience there was fun and filled with information or the enjoyment of watching these adorable, semi-domesticated animals just do their thing. The stand out moment was getting to see a brand new baby alpaca. If you think the adults are cute, you know nothing of true cuteness. I recommend getting out there in June and July since there are many pregnant alpaca and you might be lucky enough to see an itty bitty baby alpaca for yourself.
My only issue was my navigation system trying to send me down the wrong road. You want to make sure that you are turning down the 159th street that actually has the white, vinyl fence bordering it.

Wonderful tour of the alpaca farm over about 2 hours! We got to pet and feed the well-behaved alpacas and our hosts told us all about how they raise alpacas and use the shear for wool. They answered any and all questions we had and we generally had enjoyable banter. The alpacas were also good with a small child we had with us, so it was a great experience for all ages. Highly recommended!

Our little granddaughter loved the animals too! We even saw some baby chicks!! Oh, the big white Pyrenees dogs are sweet too!!

David and Jean have us the most awesome tour and explanation on how things work on the farm. Then there’s the fiber mill, where they spin the fiber from the alpacas into various types of yarn! Where these two come up with the time to do all that they do on the farm, is beyond our comprehension! Feeding and snuggling with a group of those soft and gentle alpacas, was so special!

What a fun and surprising introduction to alpacas—lots of caring and honoring by the wonderful owners of this farm. My heart melted listening to the babies “hum” and having a chance to pet these beautiful creatures. The wool treating room was a brand-new experience—had no idea of the processes, especially the felting. I will be returning with other friends and family. Thanks to everyone who made this a great day.

The things we learned about the Alpacas was very informative and interesting. All our questions were treated respect and answered. Seeing how the fiber is processed was overwhelming with how much work and processing it takes to make yarn. As a knitter, I have a new admiration for yarn. This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour and well worth the travel time to get there.
