- harryh4090 contributionsNiceWe stopped here while in Cheyenne and glad we did. The building seems to be on a rodeo or fairgrounds but is very clean. The inside rooms are full of memorabilia from the Cheyenne Days events and the people associated with the celebration. The various wagons and coaches are meticulously refurbished and their display is great. This is a great way to learn about Cheyenne Days.Written 15 September 2024
- DannyWasserman0 contributionsThe Old West at its BestThis is a wonderful museum that depicts the Wild Wild West and its allure that attracts thousands of visitors every year. From the railroads to the cowboys and Indians to the big boots out front, this place has it all.Written 9 July 2024
- 805briank0 contributionsOld West GloryWhat a fantastic museum. Very clean and spacious with super friendly and informative staff. The exhibits were great as well as the cards explaining what you were looking at and how the museum got the exhibits. Gift shop was pri ey on some items but no different than anywhere else. Well worth the stop!!Written 24 May 2024

- MirnShoe0 contributionsWell worth it when the art exhibit is upWe went primarily for the Western art show, which was fabulous. They usually host the art show in conjunction with Cheyenne Frontier Days, as I understand it. Since we had paid the admission, we also toured the museum. If you've attended Frontier Days (and even if you haven't), the displays are interesting. It is all very well done, with a lot to see and learn.Written 27 July 2023
- sarahdE7460MR0 contributionsSmall, insightful, but could use update to kids areaSmall museum with some interesting history. We are a family of 5, and it cost $48. A bit pricey for the size. The main room was for their annual art sale. Although impressive, we weren't interested in buying anything and has nothing to do with the central theme of the museum. If you are interested in purchasing art, this is certainly the place and time to go. The children's area is outdated and simple. On the dry erase board, the only activity listed was from about 6 weeks ago. This space could be renovated to be a great children's area. I would recommend looking into what other museums have done to capitalize on this market. We were in the museum for just over an hour. Everything was clean and all staff were amazingly friendly.Written 26 July 2023
- V4983STannec0 contributionsUnder renovationA bit disappointing. We thought “the Frontier Days” would be a museum of the old western frontier days. It was mainly about modern day cowboys on bucking horses and bulls. Very little else. However they are renovating and upgrading so a lot was closed off or empty. And they gave us reduced price entry ticketsWritten 11 July 2023
- Robin Z0 contributionsVery nice place to visit while in CheyenneWhat a great place to visit. We really enjoyed walking thru and seeing all the coaches and wagons. Very informative. I also believe it was an advertisement for the Cheyenne Frontier Days which are held annually. The film about was very well done.Written 27 June 2023
- WC-Travelers-750 contributionsOverpricedVisited to have something to do while in Cheyenne. The rodeo videos were the highlight. Wagons and coaches were somewhat interesting. OK if into rodeo...otherwise take the time to do something else. Overpriced admission fee.Written 18 August 2022
- revG7770 contributionsInteresting even to a city slickerIt was a little pricey, but pretty interesting. I know nothing about rodeos, but the videos brought it to life for me. All of the carriages were interesting also.Written 29 June 2022
- dgs3310 contributionsIf you like the old west or rodeos, this is a mustThe history in this museum is a must visit if you are in Cheyenne. The rodeo is an incredible event and the museum covers the entire history of the rodeo.Written 15 June 2022

- ellenbee560 contributionsgreat collection of Old West vehiclesMy husband & I recently visited this site during a day we spent in Cheyenne to learn about frontier life and WY settlement. Since we were in Cheyenne during a non-rodeo time of the year, it was easy to visit here, with plentiful free onsite parking and uncrowded galleries. We enjoyed the exhibits here very much—such great cowboy and ranching displays! Being from the east coast, neither of us are rodeo fans, but the museum’s contents were still very interesting to us. Most impressive to us history buffs is their collection of historic 19th century vehicles, i.e. wagons, carriages, stage coaches, etc. We have toured many museums containing classic automobiles and even historic vehicles like those on display here, but this site had some unique and interesting ones. (We appreciated the friendly staff member who took our photo in the Cheyenne FD carriage.) Also impressive is the art work here—not only many bronze statues but a collection of paintings of western scenes created by some very talented artists. All in all, we spent just under an hour here, viewing the nice exhibits; it was time well spent!Written 26 October 2021
- David G0 contributionsInteresting even though I'm not a big rodeo fanI'm not a huge rodeo fan, but the history here is really impressive. They have great displays and history of rodeo, plus a ton of old carriages, some restored and some in original condition.Written 8 October 2021

What a great place! Even with Covid, the museum was open and provided a fun & educational afternoon for my fiancee and myself. They took health & safety seriously, which made for a comfortable environment. The collection of wagons & carriages is amazing, as well as lots of history and memorabilia from rodeo & The Old West. The videos playing were a great look into pro rodeo as well! Definite must do when in Cheyenne.

A great museum , the exhibits are fabulous and the staff is awesome. To see what people traveled in to cross the plains gave glimpse into the challenges and the desire to travel. A staff member took time to share with us about the carriages and some of the features we might have missed. Really great experience.

Beautiful little museum. We wondered in before the rodeo they had a wonderful art and photography show going on. Their is a interactive western room for small children to visit with a parent. The staff was exceptionally friendly in the museum and the store. Great little place.

We did take our time at this museum although it wasn’t a large stop we read everything slowly and watched a video. Although focused on the western pioneers and modern rodeos, and not so much on Native American culture which I thought was part of the old west ( in fairness there were some exhibits). It was a pleasant experience as our first adventure for our trip out west. In reality one could get through the museum pretty quickly, viewing the assortment of carriages and skimming old photographs and other art. The person at reception was exceedingly welcoming and insightful. I would probably go for a higher rating but the price was pretty high for a small museum. Of course there are other things going on this site like the largest or second largest rodeo, frontier days, tribal village, and gardens.

I really enjoyed this little museum. It does have rodeo memorabilia and videos, but I was most impressed by the western art, sculptures and lots of old carriages. All types of old buggies and carriages, in various states, most were beautifully restored or refinished. Access was easy and there are no stairs.

Great museum of CHEYENNE FRONTIERS DAY past with Native artifacts of the Sioux tribe, bucket board haulers ( from authentic hearse, ambulatory, postal, to wooden water haulers) and a lot of old Cheyenne.

Some nice western art. Quite a few for sale with the average price over $4,000. Some well done displays. Mostly about the rodeo, but that’s what the place is about.
