What to expect
  • Your starting point is Fisherman’s Wharf, where you’ll pick up your bike (and if you like, upgrade to an electric bicycle) as well as all safety equipment. Then it’s off to explore San Francisco! Don’t worry about the hills—your savvy guide is well-versed in all of the flattest routes, as well as some hidden nooks known only to locals.   While it may be foggy and cool in one neighborhood, it may be sunny and warm in the next, so dressing in layers is your best option. The tour includes 10 photo stops, which double as informational stops where your guide will shares facts, stories and history on local sights. Food and drink breaks along the way include an optional lunch at a roaming pod of gourmet food trucks, and a coffee and tea break in the Haight (all food and drinks are at your own expense). On this four-hour tour, you’ll wind your way through North Beach alleyways and past the Transamerica Pyramid before coming upon the former Barbary Coast, once a den of concert saloons, dance halls, and brothels. Then you’ll make your way around AT&T ballpark and pedal past San Francisco’s colorful Victorian and Edwardian homes, including Alamo Square’s famous “Painted Ladies.” You’ll continue through San Francisco's Latino Mission District (also a hub of DIY culture), Civic Center—home to San Francisco City Hall—and the colorful Castro and Haight-Ashbury neighborhoods, then on through the newer NOPA (North of the Panhandle) neighborhood and Polk Gulch, with its bevy of bars and restaurants. The route will take you past some incredible street art, and the ride’s leisurely pace helps provide an authentic feel of each distinct area. Your guided bicycling adventure concludes at Aquatic Park in Fisherman’s Wharf, but this doesn’t necessary mean you’re done cycling. The bicycle is yours to use for the rest of the day.

A Great, Fun Way To See & Learn About the City!
Aug 2021
Highly recommend!! Our tour guide, Adam, loves SF and it's contagious. He combined historical knowledge of SF with fun facts about the city, local businesses, and the cultures of each neighborhood. We learned so much from him and it was a blast. I've never used an electric bike, so I was a bit nervous going into it, but they were really fun and made getting up those famous SF hills easy. Just, overall, a great experience! Thank you Adam and Bay City Bikes!!

Great tour by a great tour guide
This was a fantastic tour that we would highly recommend. Our superb tour guide, Adam, took us down side streets and alleys that presented a slice of The City we hadn’t seen before. He shared his passion for the City and it’s rich history while always aware of our safety.

Adam was the best tour guide! He really enjoys giving the tour and made us enjoy and see things we wouldnt have seen if it wasnt for him. He is friendly, funny, very knowledgeable and passionate about his job. The bikes where really nice and worked incredibly! I really recommend this tour for everyone who want to have a taste of the whole city and each neighborhood. It lasted 4 hours but the tour really felt very short. Dani and Alex

Fantastic Bike Tour with Adam
Jul 2019 • Couples
We took the "Streets of San Francisco" tour with Adam for 4 hours. The electric bikes were wonderful to have on the hills. I did not have to exert myself at all. The tour guide Adam did a great job explaining the sights and telling the group about the back story of all the attractions, buildings, history of the city. I highly recommend this tour.

The only issue was the next day I got a call from the company asking if we still had the two bikes they gave us! What?? We returned them along with all the other riders. I did not understand how they could not account for their bikes.

This is the way to see a new city!
Jun 2018 • Family
Steve was a great guide & took us in areas that you would never see on a bus tour. This is a 4 hour tour with a 30 minute rest to grab something to eat. I was a little hesitant because of the large hills in San Francisco but with the electric bike, it was easy & enjoyed the whole trip. Great trip for your first day here, you learn so much about the area & you get restaurant advise. Great job Steve you made our trip special.
