What to expect
  • Your tour will begin in Fisherman’s Wharf, where your guide will meet you. Start pedaling toward Crissy Field, where runners, Frisbee throwers and beautiful views of the bay abound. You'll see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background and pass the Palace of Fine Arts, first built in 1915 and a popular venue for events and concerts today. Afterward, head to the Presidio district to pass the headquarters of Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Family Museum. You’ll also see the San Francisco National Cemetery, a resting place for thousands who served in the military. After your evening tour of San Francisco concludes, you’ll cycle back to your original departure point. Though your guide will say goodbye at Fisherman’s Wharf, you are welcome to continue using your bike for a few extra hours to explore Pier 39 or the Embarcadero on your own.

Dec 2019
We booked this tour because Alcatraz was sold out and we needed this combo tour in order to get tickets. We also thought it would be a great way to see San Francisco. This was a 10 mile bike tour. We were so glad we opted for the electric bikes. This is not for people who are not used to riding bikes, or may have been touring the city and have been walking for the day and are tired. We did fine with the e-bikes, but some in our group were struggling. We only rode across half the bridge and missed the sunset becuase our tour guide was telling a story a bit too long at the warming hut (one that had nothing to do with the tour). We rode home from the GG bridge in the dark. It was a bit concerning to do this without lights on our bikes or reflective gear. I was surprised we were not encouraged to do this. Our tour guide often peddaled ahead and lost some of our groups at times (once permanently). She made a comment that "none of her night tours had gone well that week". I felt like we could have learned more about what we were passing by and the only people who could hear the guide were the 1 or 2 that were directly behind her. It was worth doing, and it was worth the upgrade to the electric bikes, but overall it was a lot money for what we got.

Hi Amy, Thank you for your feedback. I am deeply sorry that your experience with us was less than exceptional. This tour is a beginner bike tour. There is one hill that everyone walks up and a short incline up to the bridge. We have a wide variety of ages and abilities that participate, and glad you were able to take advantage of our electric bikes to make your tour more enjoyable. All of our bikes are outfitted with reflectors on the wheels and the back rack, this makes you visible to other riders when it gets dark. Our electric bikes also have lights fitted on them. Perhaps yours were turned off during the tour. Often our tour guide will have to ride ahead to make sure everyone is stopped at the closest intersection, or to ensure everyone is following behind him/her. We re-group at each crosswalk along the way so the group will stay together. We are surprised to hear your feedback about our tour guides, as you will see from the number of positive reviews, they are all highly rated. Thank you for this feedback, we will certainly discuss with our tour guide team and provide some retraining if necessary. Ashley

Very Fun, but too fast over the bridge.
Jul 2018 • Family
Alcatraz was sold out, so I had to buy a tour package to get tickets. I'm glad I did. The bike tour was fun.
I'll be honest, the tour is longer than expected. The guide provides wonderful stops and information along the way. The guide was entertaining, insightful, and pleasant.
However, once the tour hit the Golden Gate Bridge, the guide rode straight, and fast, to the other side without stopping.
I guess I expected a slower pace, to enjoy the scenery, and the bridge. Nope. The long line of the tour kept everyone moving and not stopping until we reached the other side.
I can't say I enjoyed the views on the bridge, because I was focused on keeping up ;).

Maybe there are rules about not stopping in the bike lanes. I don't know.
Be prepared to pedal.
It was fun. It was interesting, and all of us now laugh about the ride over the bridge.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, it means a lot to us! I am so glad that you enjoyed your guided bike tour. However, I am sorry that pace on the bridge wasn't as expected. The bridge can become very hectic and typically tours will stop for pictures at the northern side of the bridge. I hope you'll come back and visit us again soon! Thanks again, Ashley

Such a great experience
Sep 2018 • Couples
The staff / owners of Bay City Bikes were super friendly and easy to get on with. Helped us with our bikes and safety helmits and made us feel at ease for our cycle around the marina area and the bridge. True enough the wind can be challenging and if you don't cycle much some of the inclines might work up a sweat! The ride over the bridge is seriously windy but what a view and what a memory to take home. Thanks especially go to our guide Mihai and we wish him every sucess with his bee keeping!

A great tour to see the Famous Bridge - quite tough in the wind for kids so make sure they are ready
Jul 2018 • Family
This is a really good tour and Mihal our guide was excellent and very patient. The trip across the bridge is amazing. The ride up to the bridge is very windy and there are a couple of hills so make sure if you have kids that they re ready for this (its defintely worth it when you get there)
Overall great bikes and a good tour
