About
Visit some of the greatest cocktail bars in the nation, hidden away in the heart of downtown San Francisco and meet master mixologists who will give you the industry insight into what makes this city's cocktail bars some of the best. Guests will sip and snack their way through some of the most widely renowned establishments and closely guarded local secrets, and chat with the bartenders who dare blend artistry with chemistry to bring you some tantalizing tastes.

What to expect
  • After meeting your cocktail connoisseur guide at a location in central San Francisco, your tour starts at Pacific Cocktail Haven for a hands-on class in how to make bitters, an essential ingredient for any good beverage. Following a recipe, you can experiment with homemade tinctures (herb extracts) to create your own blend, which you'll take home with you in a custom jar. Plus, taste one of the bar's signature drinks. Then continue your culinary exploration by visiting four more bars and eateries (subject to change), such as Rx, known for its medicinal-inspired cocktail menu, and Rye, home to a secret gimlet not on the menu, as well as a seasonal drink. To avoid drinking on an empty stomach, you'll also visit a local spot for half of a banh mi (a Vietnamese sandwich) and enjoy a sausage sampler at Hogwash.  Throughout your experience, learn about the culture of cocktails in San Francisco, where the bartenders are some of the most innovative in the country. The city has become a drinking hotspot due to revived classics and farm-to-table philosophies about cocktail ingredients.

Our tour guide, Quinn, did a fantastic job in making this tour very memorable and fun. We started out learning about bitters and he had it all set up for us to concoct our own with our favorite flavors. He gave us each a bottle of bitters to take home made from our specs. Of course we had a couple of cocktails while experimenting with the bitters. We had some food before we left the first bar to help soak up some of the alcohol. Not going to divulge all of the places we went but suffice it to say you will be happy with the choices. Quinn is very knowledgeable about cocktails, history, and has a great attitude to make it fun. I was by far the oldest person on the tour but had a great time and would do it again for a special occasion. Loved it!
