    Great Spanish tour
We took the tour with Marco and he was very knowledgeable and nice. He even gave us the Spanish tour to make the experience more comfortable for us. I would like to take another tour with him.

    Great driver
James, the driver, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The two smaller wineries were not terribly differentiated but received us very nicely.

    Wine Country
Driver James was great! Very funny and knowledgeable. We stopped at two wineries in Sonoma. Great views and tasting were well organized and informative.

Ideal half day trip to wine country
Ideal trip to escape the city and see wine country in an afternoon. Our driver was great at highlighting areas that aren’t covered on the HOHO bus on the way out of the city as well as lots of wine country information. Both vineyards offer great wines and experiences for the limited time you are there. We had travelled long haul to San Fran so didn’t want a long, intense day. This was perfect.

Is Skyline Sightseeing a real company when Big Bus provides the drivers and buses?
Read the more recent reviews and STAY AWAY!! My comments are based on my experiences on 6/26/24. I have sent these comments 2X to Skyline before posting here, and I have received no reply. This company is at least a sham if not a scam... 1. First, there was absolutely no transparency from the company about its "partnership" with Big Bus. Like another reviewer, my relatives and I waited nearly an hour for one of its orange buses to show up, only to finally ask if Big Bus might accept Skyline's vouchers. Thankfully, we were allowed to board a Big Bus, otherwise we might have wasted more time waiting on orange buses that were nowhere to be seen. 2. Because Big Bus doesn't offer Mandarin recordings, my relatives visiting from China were not able to make use of the tour recording. However, I was assured by Skyline that Mandarin was available on "its buses." 3. Skyline's interactive timetable did not work, and it was difficult to find on the website. 4. There is no way to contact Skyline by phone for assistance despite its SF mailing address, which is the same for Big Bus. Is it really based in SF? 5. If the company is no longer operating its own buses (perhaps this has been the case for awhile?), that should be made clear from the start. In essence, Skyline is really a booking agency while Big Bus provides the drivers and vehicles. The website photos of its buses are totally misleading and are false advertising. I could have saved a lot of time if I had just booked with Big Bus from the start. Plus I could have purchased tickets elsewhere for less than what I paid on Skyline's website. All of this begs the question: what is the purpose of advertising Skyline and Big Bus as separate tour companies if they essentially act as one and the same? Maybe the Better Business Bureau can get to the bottom of this??!!

    Great with an asterisk
We saw great sights and really enjoyed the hop on hop off flexibility. Once we got the requisite cable car ride taken care of, this tour made it very easy to get to the spots that we wanted to see. The buses were frequent and easy to find, once we knew which bus to take. The only negative I’ve got is that we spent over an hour looking for a bus that said “Skyline” on it and saw none, though we saw tons of the “Big Bus”. Finally, out of desperation, I stepped on a Big Bus to ask if they knew where we could find a Skyline bus and he said “that’s us”! Perhaps this was just tourist ignorance on my part if it would have been nice to have all that clearly explained prior. We would do it again now that we know. After a lot of world travel, SF has quickly taken a Top 5 spot as one of our favorite cities!

    Napa Valley Wine Tour
This was a great, relaxing experience for a vacation to the Bay Area for the first time. Both wineries (Madonna Estate and Ru Vango) were wonderful with the former providing more tastings and better education on their process, and the latter providing a wonderful ambiance and an actual walk through the vineyards. Our driver, Grady, was phenomenal - a treasure trove of information based on his 51 years of experience in conducting wine tours. My wife and I highly-recommend this excursion.

Don’t get sick - no refund provided
Be careful if you get sick and land in the hospital like I did. The company has zero compassion to help you reschedule. I provided documentation to prove why I was a no show and I was ignored. I received no help (and I communicated the same morning about the illness giving the company time to sell my reserved seats). Very disappointing

    A Great Wine Experience
The long drive outside of San Francisco City was definitely worth it! Grady, our tour guide was very accommodating and shared to us various information about the wineries in Sonoma and Napa Country. The two wineries that we went to were unique on each own and offered to us their best wine samples. I had tasted each one and we all had a great time!

    Not much for the price
If you are looking for an educational wine experience, this is NOT it! If you want to drive through the California countryside with just some dude, this is it. Our guide was not particularly knowledgeable and mostly just rambled. He was also our driver, which isn’t great when he is just rambling because he needs to focus on driving! The drive was fine except excessive midday traffic meant that we only got 4 of 6 wines at the first tasting, so I do feel cheated. For the most part, the wines were also not for me (or my partner, but they’re not a wine drinker). The only food available was a $35 charcuterie board. This was decent. I didn’t learn much about the wineries at all, I just tasted a couple of reds, whites, and one rosé.

    Not happy.
We purchased the 2 day tour AND the night tour. When we showed up for the NIGHT tour, we were put on the wrong bus and ended up getting off half way through and had to pay an Uber to get back to our hotel. What a waste of time plus the cost of an Uber. Not happy.

    Great tour, confusing booking
The tour itself was good, our driver (James) provided great commentary. However, Skyline doesn’t really seem to exist anymore, it’s actually Big Bus. I don’t know why they haven’t dropped the redundant Skyline name.

Wonderful day just outside San Francisco
We took the full day tour of Muir Woods with a stop in Sausalito and afternoon in wine country and loved it! We had a fabulous tour guide in Grady in the morning, whose years of touring and telling stories made him an entertaining host. Upon arrival at Muir woods, we fell in love with the tranquility and beauty of the forest and the giant redwoods. In our 1.5 hours there, we were able to do a chunk of viewpoint trail and the longest trail across bridge 4. It was absolutely a highlight of our stay in San Francisco. After a brief, but beautiful stop in Sausalito for lunch and views, we continued to visit two small wineries in both the Napa and Sonoma valleys, a lovely way to spend our afternoon. Thank you for a great day!

Meh - I would not do it again.
We have taken the Bus Tours in other cities and have been happy with tour, San Francisico was a bit less impressive. We booked a boat tour and had to get clarification of the time and location, that ended up being nice. It was about an hour with a trip under the Golden Gate and around Alcratraz. It was narrated, however we were up top and it was drowned out by the the boat engines. The bus - you have to use headphones or you will not know what is going on, the stops are not neccessarly marked. You will need to refer to pictures on your app. Most stops are no where close to the attraction, you will need to walk. The bus drivers are hit or miss, if I would had our 1st driver I would have waited for the next bus. Our second driver was wonderful. Review the tour and see what is important to you, the Golden Gate Bridge was the best stop for me.

    A little below expectations
The bus driver made the tour, he was brilliant. The first winery was the best although the whole tour was in the barrel store and tasting lounge. Maybe it was the time of year but I expected a bit more if a tour of the facility and what happens at each stage. The guy presenting was very knowledgeable. The second location was just a stop and taste in a gazebo outside the winery - very little in terms of winery information.

DO NOT ever for any reason decide to book with this company.

We booked our kids' dream trip - a trip to San Francisco to tour Alcatraz. We checked out books from the library, read about the history of Alcatraz, watched videos about this amazing landmark, had 'reading challenges' that earned points that they could turn in so that they would get a special Alcatraz souvenir.

We are 3 days before flying to San Francisco and received an email from Skyline Sightseeing stating, "Sorry, but we can no longer provide you with the Alcatraz tickets you bought". We bought these tickets months ago. I tried calling them - they do not have a working number. I emailed them and they did finally respond and stated, 'Sorry, we didn't intend to mess up".

I would never book with this company unless you want to be sorely disappointed.

If I could give zero stars I would. This trip was bought and paid for a month ago through our travel agent. We were asked to confirm our place 72 hours before departure and we actually confirmed a week before only to be told there were no places available. We were offered the next day but had another tour booked. We emailed them to ask for alternatives but got no response. Our tour operator got involved but had no luck either. This could have ruined our holiday as we've travelled from UK to see Alcatraz. Luckily we managed to buy tickets through Viator at double the cost to us. No apology or recompense has been offered. Please do not use this tour operator!!!!!

The sightseeingworld.com team is friendly and quickly answered all of our questions about the booking process by email.
Our follow-up questions could probably have been avoided with a more detailed description of the booking process (the voucher can also be redeemed online).
By using hop-on hop-off and visiting Alcatraz, you can see all of the important visit points. The most impressive was the trip across the Golden Gate.

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
