- 1The essential Golden Gate Park tour from the Haight to Ocean Beach. Golden Gate Park has a lot to offer between its world-class gardens and exhibits, but it’s my goal to take you along the seldom traveled trails to showcase it’s hidden beauty. Standing under the tropical giants at the Conservatory of Flowers and wading in the serenity of the Japanese Tea Garden, I’ll illustrate how the park was planted, formed, and grown. Sneaking through the park’s many ecosystems, we’ll spy hundreds of flora and fauna like the great American bison, the spotted owl, and a slimey sweetheart, the banana slug. Looping lakes, open air plazas, and moving memorials speckle our journey through the park to the seaside. The massive Dutch Windmill and rolling sand dunes mark the end of our tour as we reach the Pacific Ocean. Reflect on your thousand-acre adventure and maybe pick a spot on the shore to watch the sunset.

- Trail5828170 contributionsFantastic tour!My daughter and I had a fantastic tour with Ryan on a sunny January morning. He showed us hidden spots we'd never find ourselves with gorgeous views and shared so much history about the city. I'd take another tour with him in a minute!Written 18 January 2025
- B1266ECcindyb0 contributionsFun, active, educationalFun, educational, great workout for a 71 yr old! Be sure description discusses LOTS of stairs! Not set up for folks with knee or hip issues.Written 28 August 2024
- ryancC578NW0 contributionsAwesome TourRyan was a very knowledgeable and fun tour guide. We had such a great time walking around listening to interesting history and stories of the places we visited. The walk took us to some great parts of the city. Would highly recommend the tour and will definitely book another one of the walking tours when we are next in SF. 👍🏽Written 15 October 2023
- Marymacdel0 contributionsGreat City TourRyan was a great guide. Loves SF and has lots of great facts about the city and it’s history! Extraordinary enthusiasm. It’s a hearty walk but well worth it. Highly recommend!Written 14 August 2023

- 597lenin0 contributionsFascinating walking tour of Castro and Mission with RyanWhat a great tour Ryan gave us! Learned a lot of interesting things we could never have found out about without a tour guide. Even though we had already been on a food tour of Mission, this walking tour covered very few of the same things that our food tour covered. Loved learning about the bay windows, golden fire hydrant, pirate store, native and non-native plants, a national parklet, stairway streets, mural alleys, and the history of both Castor and Mission. Fascinating!Written 30 April 2023
- 522curtp0 contributionsGreat tour!I highly recommend the Castro and Mission tour, it was fascinating and very entertaining. Our guide (Ryan) was awesome, so knowledgeable about the area, and very enthusiastic and engaging. Ryan had a light schedule that day, we really appreciated the fact that he spent extra time with us to extend the tour. Both of those districts are full of history and character, and Ryan was the perfect guide to walk us through.Written 28 April 2023
- V7889XPalis0 contributionsGreat tourRyan was a wonderful tour guide. We loved his energy and he has put together a really awesome tour that'll make you leave your heart in San Francisco! We almost decided to skip the tour because we were tired but so glad we didn't.Written 6 May 2022
- Tour3245340 contributionsExcellent Tour of Castro and Mission districts in SFOur group of four took a tour of the Castro area and the Mission District with Ryan C. From the moment he met us (right on time) until he walked us to his favorite cookie shop on Castro Street and said goodbye, we were impressed by his knowledge, humor, good energy, kindness, and sincerity. We are all strong walkers and enjoyed the pace, but it was clear that Ryan wanted us to be comfortable and make the tour work for us. We were impressed by his knowledge of plants and trees, architecture, local businesses, the murals on the route, and the history of the areas we were in. Mostly, we enjoyed his enthusiasm/love for San Francisco. He is an excellent guide and we were only sad that we all had to wear masks and have that “barrier” between us. But he followed the mask mandate and it didn’t diminish his energy for the job. At no time did we feel our questions were unwelcome or that the tour was somehow a chore. I have been on tours where my guide seemed exhausted by his/her guests and bored with the info they needed to share with them. Ryan was wonderful. We hope to take another tour with him in the future.Written 23 March 2021
- Gamecock830 contributionsRoaming San FranciscoRyan is an outstanding guide. His knowledge of the history and local lore of the city was beyond incredible. We enjoyed 3 different tours during our stay and could have gone on many more. You will not be disappointed if you choose to take any of Ryan's tours.Written 17 October 2019
- FBQueenB0 contributionsAmazing Tour of San Francisco!!!Wow! Bravo, Roam Local! We had such a great time on our Mission/Castro tour! Being a tourist in my own city is always fun, but our tour w/ Roam Local made this experience truly memorable. My friend came to visit, and I decided to take her “off the beaten path”, away from the tourist traps. Our tour guide Ryan is a true SF expert. He was so knowledgeable, and he shared many interesting and rare-facts (even my native-self didn’t know these gems of knowledge and secret corners of the city). I can’t wait to go on ALL of the RoamLocal tours!Written 10 June 2019
- BrianP40400 contributionsgreat tour of Telegraph HillThis tour is just what we wanted. It was so refreshing to get off the beaten path and have a personal tour through the neighborhoods of San Francisco. Ryan reached out ahead of time to let us know what to expect, led us on a 3 hour walk through areas we never would have seen. His knowledge spanned everything from history of the city and neighborhoods, to architecture, to art, to plant and wildlife. We had a great time, and highly recommend him!Written 19 May 2019
- Glenn H0 contributionsGREAT MORNINGGreat 3 hours with Ryan Curtis on private tour of Mission district. Very interesting, very engaging, loved it.Written 9 December 2018
- Sejacurtis0 contributionsAwesomeWe recently went on a private walking tour of Chinatown with Ryan Curtis of Roamlocal. It was extraordinary. His exuberance and knowledge was beyond the pale. The day was beautiful and the sights, sounds, and smells of the area were enhanced by Ryan's detailed description of what we were experiencing. An incredible part was the use of his ipad with historical photographs of the places where we were. While he was giving us information, many other people would stop to listen and ask questions. We plan to take each and every one of his tours. We give you an A+ Ryan.Written 22 November 2017
