The description on getting to Tijuana isn’t accurate. It should inform you that you have to cross the border on your own prior. (Not dangerous) However, our tour guide Victor was amazing. He texted me prior to getting to the border and waited right outside of the Mexican side. Victor took his time to explain the city to us and you can tell how passionate he was about his city. He made us feel at ease and really see through the eyes of the locals. Thank you, Victor for a fun experience!

I took this tour with a friend. Neither of us had been to Tijuana in many, many, (many!) years and decided a guide was the way to go. There were 11 people in the group total, luckily a great mix of folks. Our tour guide, Jocelyn (sorry if I misspelled her name!) was incredible. Very knowledgeable and made sure everyone was getting everything they wanted and needed during the tour. We crossed the border, took a van for a short trip to center and then walked to experience the many things Tijuana has to offer - museums, church, arch, shops, art, ate delicious tacos, and took in amazing views of the city. She stayed with the group until we got the front of the line to cross the border back into the US. She was amazing and made the tour even better. I highly recommend this tour if you’ve never been to Tijuana before or I’d like me, it’s been a long time. It helped reorient me so I can make the trip without a guide again :). It’s a lot of walking so bring comfy shoes and your patience for crossing back into the US. It’s a lot quicker if you have Sentry. But it wasn’t that long of a wait overall (on a Saturday, late afternoon).

The success of this tour is due to rich-experienced tour guides. It was very comfortable just to walk around instead of being crowded on a bus for a city tour. The spots visited have their own unique charm as I gained experience from the tour; I would gladly do this again.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fun day in Tijuana filled with tasting the best street tacos, tequila, and Caesar Salads. Did you know the Caesar salad was made in Tijuana?! Amazing.
We met our tour guide, Tadeo, on the border of Mexico (adhering to COVID guidelines), and our day started with learning about the many historic areas of the city and how modern-day Tijuana came to be. Tadeo was incredibly informative of the city’s history AND where to find the best tacos. We were able to visit Playas de Tijuana in addition to other artsy areas of the city.
This was an exciting, yet COVID safe day trip!

Had a great day out with our very knowlegable giude. On the visit to Tijuana we were guided by Javier whose insight into his city was extensive and clearly broadened my knowledge of the city. Javier quickly guided us through customs both ways, in fact it only too 15 minutes to return to the USA. Tried the local beers, ate some Tacos, visited a Tequila shop and sampled a few of the hundreds on display. If you are down that way its worth a visit, its safe and you re in good hands.

This was the greatest tour I have taken.
We were the only 2 on the Tour but I really believe it would have been just as great with 20 people, our guide was Javier (really hope the spelling is correct) This young man was very proud of his country and knowledgeable as well. There was walking but he adjusted to our pace and took us to place I'm sure we would have missed.
I have to say that on leaving Tijuana we took a new view of the city and left a friend behind.
Anyone thinking about the Tijuana Day Trip from San Diego should do it first off but I would demand Javier as the guide. This place is not the same as 20 years ago that in the culture.

Greg, the guide, was super knowledgeable and gave me a lot of historical as well as current info on Tijuana. The afternoon felt really safe. We got to visit many different areas. Lunch was also very tasty. I am vegetarian and he was able to accommodate for that. I will go back with my kids.

We had Victor as a tour guide and he was great!! Due to covid, we had to meet on the Mexico side of the border which was really simple as Victor was waiting for us. We spent 4-5 hours walking around Tijuana, learning about the history and eating street food. Would highly recommend if you plan on visiting Tijuana for the day!!
Without Victor, we would have had no idea what to do in Tijuana. Thank you!!

I took the Tijuana Local Walking Tour from San Diego
and it was a great experience! Both Tadeo and Fernando are absolutely amazing. They are very passionate and knowledgeable about places and their history. The tour included tacos, margaritas and tequila tasting. It was very well planned and we saw all the landmarks of Tijuana.
I strongly recommend this tour. It was worth every minute!

Tadeo was the best! My sis and I decided to do this tour and we had to meet Tadeo in Mexico after crossing the border by foot - to be honest, we were scared but the instructions from Fernando was very clear and it was easy to get thru the border. Plus we met so many cool people during this tour and sooo glad we did this. I would recommend to anyone interested in checking out TJ and trying good food/drinks! Thanks Tadeo~

We are from the Philippines with valid US tourist visa. Will it not be an inconvenience to cross the border to San Diego-Tijuana and vise versa?

How long is the walk?

The walk was around 4 hours. We left the US around 1pm and came back around 7pm. It's an easy walk, no uphill/downhill. Also we had snacks along the way and got to sit down, so it's not constant walking.

We are from Switzerland. Do we need special visa or something to cross the border?

I suggest you talk with a tour operator to get a precise answer. My experience, in January 2019, was that I only needed my passport and a US Visa.
Is there parking available if I drive to the meeting point?

HI, yes it's really easy. The nearer you get to the border the cheaper it gets. Some places charge $20 but the nearer we got to the meeting point it went to around $12. There are several big drive in car parks. We met the guide outside McDonalds and we parked where we could practically see McD's. No need to book it seems.
Have fun - we enjoyed it.

Hello there.. me and my family planing visit san diego in december. Can i visit Tijuana on USA visa or i need other visa? Thanks

You need to check whether citizens of your country need a visa to enter Mexico, Tijuana is in Mexico therefore a USA visa is not applicable there, but you will need the USA visa to return to the USA
