- InterScapes0 contributionsLlamas in the DesertWe enjoyed our 2-hour llama trek with our guide, Katie, and our llama companions Ace and Hershel! Katie was very informative about the surrounding geology and about the care and training of the llamas. We were the last guests of the season and the special attention Katie gave us.Written 31 October 2024
- EGarcia240 contributionsAn incredible experience in Capitol Reef!We went on the 4-hour llama hike with Kadi 2 weeks ago and it was the highlight of our 2 week trip to Utah! Gorgeous scenery, fun conversation with Kadi, and the llamas add even more layers of delight and fun than you’re expecting! My son fell in love with Herschel and spent the 4 hours stopping to hug him at every turn. Kadi also prepared a delicious picnic lunch - complete with tablecloth and chairs - and it was a welcome break in the shade during the hike. Highly recommend to all families - it was a cool way to see the park, and my son didn’t even realize he had walked almost 5 miles! Thanks again, Kadi!Written 10 July 2024
- lindapQ6195EX0 contributionslots of gear for a 2 hour hikeWhy in the world would you need a llama for a 2 hour hike? Over night maybe, but don't you think you can carry your own water bottle for 2 whole hours? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of! Good Grief!Written 27 March 2024
- L4697QRchristinee0 contributionsLLama loveThe view was awesome. The llamas were sweet and gentle The highlight of our trip was trekking with the llamas. We had a great time!Written 23 October 2023
- godmother30 contributionsDEFINITELY go on one of these hikes!!!This was an WONDERFUL hike—may have been the best 2 hours of any of our recent travels! Phil was our guide and in addition to teaching our group about llamas (they’re much more than cute!) he led us through gorgeous scenery and gave us a great education on the geography, history and landscape we were traveling through. We really didn’t want our 2 hours to come to an end. We highly recommend Wilderness RidgeTrail Llamas!!Written 6 July 2023
- K9534ULkathyt0 contributionsGreat experience and beautiful animals!Phil was an amazing guide. Loved his enthusiasm and expertise with the animals and surrounding area. This was super fun to handle these beautiful animals and learn so much about them that we didn’t know. Great experience!!!! Highly recommend.Written 15 May 2023
- ryanjrob0 contributionsA must do experience!!Such a great experience! We called the day before and they were able to schedule us for a 2 hour private hike (for 2) the next day. Our guide was wonderful and very informative educating us on all kids of different things about the llamas and Capital Reef National Park. Our llama were very sweet and did a great job on the hike. I hope we can come back sometime and do one of the multi-day trips!!Written 6 May 2023

- canjun130 contributionsLovely llamas and hikeEverything about our experience with your morning llama treck was just perfect. Starting with being accommodated for our last minute decision to ask if any availability that morning, to our cool, fun and knowledgeable guide, Nicholas, and of course our absolutely lovely and adorable llama companions, Chuncy and Percy. We still talk about them and miss them! This was a highlight of our trip to Utah, thank you for the opportunity.Written 10 August 2022
- amyballar0 contributionsBetter Than We Imagined! MUST DO in Capitol Reef!We went in thinking we got to ride these guys (yup....we're idiots) and were a bit disappointed to hear we just hiked next to them...AT FIRST. But then, after meeting the Llamas, hiking for two hours and interacting with them, I am SOOO thankful we came! What a BLAST! Padrig and Nicholas were just amazing guides for our family of 8! They answered all the crazy questions my kids asked, taught us so much history on llamas and gave us a thorough biology lesson on these mammals! Kirsten was so fun to chat with and just the entire experience was a highlight of our whole summer! Highly recommend this place as a crazy, unique adventure!!Written 18 July 2022
- Josh M0 contributionsWonderful 4 hour hikeDid the four hour llama hike and it was amazing. The meal at the halfway point was a wonderful break. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Made for a relaxing day. Looking forward to coming back for an overnight hike.Written 18 July 2022
- Shiegebyers0 contributionsHighlight of our trip!Family of 4 (children 11/14) did the half day hike with lunch and every bit of it was awesome! Intro with our great guide Phil and his llama 101 overview - perfect. His knowledge of the area was so helpful & answered all our questions, along with a good sense of humor. We hiked about 1.5 mile to a lunch spot near a beautiful big Ponderosa Pine. He fixed up a spread that our family loved, good fresh food and a variety of drink options. And the hike back was a different route - enjoyed getting to see so much of this area. We got to give the llamas treats after and they welcomed our visit back later in the day to see them again as we were staying on the same property. This was no doubt a highlight of our trip. Great service, food, people, and sweet llamas that they obviously love as their own fur babies! ❤️ Highly recommend this fun adventure.Written 23 June 2022
- L879EMjessicac0 contributionsLlam-azingWe had the absolute best time on our hike!!! Our tour guide was so personable and knowledgeable. Before starting, he introduced us to the llamas and how to interact with them. They were so much fun and well behaved. The hike was stunning and there was so much to explore. We did two hours, but you could easily spend more time out there. I couldn’t recommend this experience enough!Written 16 June 2022
- catherinegD5639NE0 contributions2-Hour Llama HikeThis was such a fun activity! We hiked near Capitol Reef National Park. The llamas are such beautiful animals! Phil was a wonderful guide, and the scenery was very pretty. Phil was very accommodating, as we had a member of our group with a knee injury. He helped her navigate the parts of the trail that were difficult for her unstable knee. I would highly recommend this hike - it was my favorite part of our Utah vacation!Written 15 May 2022

Would recommend. Mike was out guide. He is very knowledgeable in the area and a real cowboy. All which adds to the experience. Sure footed horses, helmets and all the safety measures. The ride was beautiful, so up close to the mountains and rocks, places we could not have hiked , as we are not hikers! Mike smiled at my O'Queeny poem. If your in the area I would recommend this horseback riding, as you'll see plants and animals not seen from the roadways. Great horses too. It made our trip extra special, thanks Mike & Capitol Reef Resort!

We had the best morning! Our daughter was so excited but nervous to ride. Despite our love of hiking, we decided to divide and conquer so hubs went hiking while I went riding with our daughter. She was nervous having never ridden before, so we booked an hour. 40 minutes in, I could tell she was loving it, so I whispered and asked if we could extend it to 2 hours if there was no one after us. Her eyes lit up when she heard we’d stay longer. 10 days of hiking, rafting, and some relaxing across Utah, and if you ask her the best part of the trip, this was it! It truly was the most expensive part now that we’re signing up for riding lessons at home 🤣. Our kid has never been happier! I can’t think the guides enough for making every bit of the excursion perfect and unforgettable!

Beautiful views although not in the Park still gorgeous. Horses were gentle but responsive to direction. Mike didn’t make us feel like tenderfoot city slickers at any time (even though we are). I was at the back so if our guide was saying anything I couldn’t hear it unless we stopped. My review is undoubtedly influenced by the stellar weather we had.

Highly recommend. Mike did an awesome job. Took the time to explains things and made sure everything was taken care of. The horse were great, very well trained trial riders. The view is amazing!! We had great conversations, Mike has some fun cowboy stories. Once the ride was over, we had so much fun talking to Mike we hung around for another half hour like we were old friends. My daughter was pretty nervous to go on her first horseback ride. Our guide Taylor really helped her through it and she had the best time. She wanted to go again! The horses have such unique personalities and were so funny. The scenery was gorgeous and it was just an awesome experience all around. We will definitely do this again when we’re in the area!

Very flexible. Rain was threatening at our scheduled time, and Mike allowed us to push it back until the weather cleared. The good: Riding instructions, jaw dropping scenery, saw a rattlesnake and a coyote. The could have done without: Ten minutes on how great Toby Keith is, political commentary without any consideration for the audience. We were smart enough not to engage.

Thanks for taking a trip with us we appreciate it. Very glad to hear you enjoyed our home and the places we cherish and share. I appreciate your willingness to share your opinion. I wanted to add a simple note if I may: if you are going to the country for a country tour on horseback with a cowboy and going to step into their world I think that is brave and exciting. It allows for most people to see and experience something unique and new. Especially compared to their day to day lives. We are glad you did. Also glad you had a wonderful trip and enjoyed the scenery. Maybe taking it all in and not judging the cowboy, his taste in music or otherwise would be more in line with “staying in your lane”. No one needs to know that you gave a three star review because you loved everything about the trip except the viewpoints of your cowboy that kept you safe and honed his craft over decades of hard work and dedication.
