What to expect
When visiting New York, take advantage of the city's proximity to Boston and experience one of the most historical cities in the USA. Your full-day tour begins in Midtown Manhattan, where you’ll board a comfortable minivan or bus and meet your knowledgeable guide. Then, travel along the scenic Connecticut coast and through inland countryside on your approximately 4.5-hour journey to Boston. Get a taste of Ivy League prestige with a stop in Cambridge to tour highlights of Harvard University, including Harvard Yard and the massive Widener Library. You’ll also drive by the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Cambridge College.  After crossing the Charles River into Boston, see local landmarks like Trinity Church and stretch your legs with a stroll along the 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) Freedom Trail. This commemorative path takes you to 16 sites that played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. See the locations of the Boston  Massacre and the Boston Tea Party; Faneuil Hall, and Boston Common. Along the way, your guide will share legends and facts about Boston’s historic legacy. Midday, enjoy a bit of leisure time to explore downtown Boston on your own. For lunch, try local seafood favorites like lobster rolls or clam chowder at Quincy Market (own expense). After several hours in Boston, reboard the minivan and relax on the return drive to Manhattan, where your 13-hour tour concludes in the evening.

Boston tea party
Oct 2019 • Solo
I was looking forward to seeing the ship of the Boston tea party. This was what I wanted to see but we had only a few minutes at the end of the day & could not go on or down near it. The tea tasting was interesting flavours.
The guide & drivers were helpful & informative. It was a long day due to slow moving traffic.

Overcharged 60 dollars
We booked this trip two days ahead at the main office. We were charged 169 dollars each for the three of us. The trip was good mainly because of Brian and the drivers, but I noticed when I got back to the hotel that we had not been charged the 149 dollars each advertised in the brochure to which our receipt had been stapled. I went specially to the head office the next day to query this and was told the discount (which merely said "149 dollars each to end Sept" no year mentioned) was for last year. I asked then why did it not say Sept 2018 and was given no reason. I asked why there were loads of these leaflets on display advertising this discount and was again given no valid reason or apology. He again refused to refund the difference. This was a Manager too, to whom I had been referred. Very dishonest and rude behaviour. These misleading leaflets were on display the day after I complained, so looks like a case of deliberately misleading people. This was a special 18th birthday trip for my daughter. Peter, Kari and Louisa.

We are very sorry to hear that you had an issue of this kind on our tour. Empire Vacations is a tour operator but there are many companies in between that are selling our tickets. Unfortunately they had brochures from last year and the manager you talked to is not member of our organization. Will definitely contact them to investigate this issue. I hope will see you again on our tour. Mike Amadeo

Beautiful City
Nov 2018 • Friends
My friend (who has a disability and requires a wheelchair) and I had planned this day tour to Boston for months. We booked, paid and requested a wheelchair. On arrival at the pick up spot we were advised that there was no wheelchair and told abruptly by the extremely rude woman in charge (?) that we should have bought our own. There was also another woman on crutches who was expecting a wheelchair too, so that put a bit of a downer on the day from the start. Our guide was lovely, apologising about the wheelchair and asking if my friend was okay, even though it wasn’t his fault and our bus driver was great. Unfortunately this tour is mainly a walking tour and my friend was worn out in a short time, though she persevered and somehow got through the day. I was exhausted, so I can only imagine how she felt. I did like this tour, though it did feel a bit rushed when we got to Boston and I believe that we did miss out on seeing a few sights. Lunch at Quincey Markets was very crowded, I couldn’t even sit down, though the markets themselves were great. I wish our guide would have told us that there was a Hard Rock Cafe and a Starbucks a short distance away with lots of seating.
Overall, for me, it was a nice experience in a beautiful city but a bit rushed and I certainly don’t recommend it if you require assistance with walking and getting around.

Hi Deslie, We are very sorry to hear that you had this issue on our tour. Unfortunately we cannot provide wheelchairs to the customers, and this is what we clearly advise all of our partners. If booked in advance we can provide wheelcahir accesibile bus, as we try our best to acomodate all passnegers, but we cannot provide wheelchair itself. I do understand your disapomntment but we never confirmed any wheelchair resrvation. All the Best Mike

A short but worth while trip
Travelled on Sunday 2nd. Had a great time in Boston, tour guides were great and even kept the journey from New York interesting. Great for someone staying in the east coast who wants to visit other cities but is limited for time. I would have liked to stay in some spots for longer but for a day trip it is to be expected to an extent. Overall had a great time, would certainly recommend this and the tour company.

Boston is an amazing city but I found the tour to be fairly average. Maybe NOT do the tour from NYC to Boston as the travel time is simply too long, leaving you with a very short visit in Boston.
