- AdvtrTrvlr0 contributionsMust see when in New York CityWe were in New York City for Christmas week and hit all the major sites. We took the ferry over to liberty Island and spent a couple hours going through the museum and walking around the island. Definitely something that you want to see them plan for enough time. From there, the ferry takes you to Ellis Island. There is way more to do Ellis Island than we had ever imagined. We spent about three hours going through the history and museum sections of Ellis Island, and still did not see a large portion of the exhibits. Depending on your interest level of history, you could plan to spend a good half a day or longer here. I had no idea that there was so much history and so much to see on Ellis IslandWritten 13 March 2025

- butl20230 contributionsIt took forever, but it was coolIt was very cool, but there’s like five layers of security like one security for everything seagulls attack you for having a piece of food out and the drum place final part is the lines in the boat wide is like five hoursWritten 4 February 2025
- Q3201DNfionad0 contributionsFantastic dayamazing tour host and trip. Loved it. Had a great day. Was an extremely cold day , chill factor - 20 but our tour guide was excellent so we braved outside to listen to him and then he kindly took photos for us to remember our great day . Thank youWritten 24 January 2025
- TashaT4400 contributionsStatue of Liberty tourI found a great deal on Groupon for this guided tour during our visit for the new year. About four of us went for about $55 which was a good deal I thought. It was a guided boat tour to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. It was very cold and windy due to the fact of the time of year plus we were right on the water we almost froze to death while waiting in line, lol. The tour guide which was the captain of the boat was very nice and explaining everything as we rode along and he made sure that both sides of passengers got a chance to view the Statue of Liberty and take plenty of pictures and videos he did a very good job explaining he was very hospitable and nice to everybody. Even though it was freezing we were glad to get on the boat which we chose to sit on the bottom as they had a refreshment stand on the bottom that included hot chocolate drinks and warm fresh pop popcornWritten 11 January 2025

- Deri-Anne B0 contributionsVery informative tourAbsolutely fantastic tour….our guide Mike was incredibly knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. We also loved how he was conscious of other people enjoying the sites. A true gentleman! Didn’t feel rushed at all and had plenty time to explore on our own too and take lots of photos. Highly recommend.Written 13 December 2024
- angie98420 contributionsOnce in a lifetime moment! We went a few days before the Macy’s day parade and it was LIFE altering! A marching band from Jonesboro GA ( who was in the parade) came over to play at the base of the statue …(unbeknownst to us) . It felt like a movie !! So patriotic…Written 27 November 2024
- F6495JElaurat0 contributionsImproper, and let down. Our tour guide acted like he didn’t really care about us. He would walk super far away and then realize that he left us behind. His outfit was not a good first impression and when we went through security he took his belt off and didn’t put it on till we got on the boat, his pants were falling down. He did a presentation in the museum and he had previously told us he would not be able to talk about anything in the museum but it looks like he broke that rule. We were not informed that it would be a personal tour and were a little bit upset. He didn’t know where the exit to security and where restrooms were.Written 23 November 2024

- deborahsK7680HP0 contributionsLady Liberty Does Not Disappoint!Cece met us at the meeting point and was very helpful. Then Marley was our guide. We were looking so forward to this excursion and were not disappointed. We learned a lot and since our guide was from the area she was able to add extra bits of info along the way. The Statue is as pretty as I had imagined, we did not go up inside, but the workmanship was extraordinary. At Ellis Island we experience such a reverence for what the immigrants of the time experienced.Written 18 October 2024

Interesting tour covering lots of ground relevant to 9-11 including old and new architecture, monuments, churches, stories about the first responders, personal accounts of loved ones lost. It was a very cold day but we wore lots of layers and the walking kept us warm as did some time spent indoors touring the Oculus. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. My 15 year old son was very engaged by the guide, the memorial tour and the 9-11 Museum, which we visited directly afterwards. He said it was the highlight of the NYC trip. We took the 12.30 pm memorial tour which finished around 2 pm. We had booked 3 pm tickets for the 9-11 Museum however the security line to enter was very long so our time in the Museum was cut short (less than 2 hours, as it closes at 5 pm). My son was disappointed that we didn't get to finish looking at the interactive exhibition (which was sombre but touching). If you are visiting NYC during peak tourist times, suggest booking this memorial tour in the morning to allow at least 2 hours for the Museum. Also, eat before hand as we found it difficult to find a decent quick meal nearby. Finally, allow plenty of time for travel, it took longer than expected to navigate traffic into the area.

Absolutely superb. Not only for me with all the stories, anecdotes and history for the US but also incredibly engaging for two teenage/adult boys who are not easily engaged over 2 hours of listening but hung in Jim’s every word. Completely entertained and enlightened. Really impactful tour on so many levels. Would highly recommend.

Our guide, Jim, made his tour of Ground Zero informative and entertaining. He has personal memories of the 9/11 attack and a deep knowledge of New York City. He was able to answer questions off the cuff. He gave just the right amount of information and time to absorb it. He kept us engaged and entertained from the first minute to the last.
I highly recommend City Tales Sightseeing to anyone who wants to get a pretty complete understanding of the history of the site.

It was a 4 hour tour but it was definitely worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and he covered every possible aspect of the occurrences of 9/11. It was a long talk and I think some seating should have been available for the less mobile people. However, we proceeded on to the Museum which was outstanding. We spent about 2 and a half hours there but only saw a fraction of it. Congratulations to the organisers who have done a wonderful job with the museum. We had a memorable day, and the sun really shone upon us, with a clear blue clarity and the blessed warmth of 26 degrees!

We had Marc, a knowledgeable New Yorker from Brooklyn. We met up with him at the steps to Saint Paul’s Chapel… we went to different sights where he explained to us what happened in the area… I would recommend people do this tour prior to entering the memorial. It helps to understand what happened on that terrible day.

While our guide was knowledgeable, it was very difficult to hear him. Need headsets. And he had a notebook full of photos, that were difficult to view as he panned the group . It was an outdoor tour, and some in our group were not dressed warm enough ( it was a 50 degree day) so the tour guide followed their lead, and most of tour was indoors. We spent most of our time inside at Brookfield Place and the Oculus, and the guide pointed out the highlights from a window. Not my favorite tour.

Jim! Many thanks to GetYourGuide for hitting every mark on an experience like no other. If you want facts, figures, and historical context delivered by New York's #1 Guide service, book this tour. Yes, our tour guide was that good. Our experience was on-time to the minute (military precision without the drill sergeant) delivered by a personal, passionate, caring group leader. This most valuable use of time connects sights with engaging stories to better understand all that is around is in and near the 9/11 Memorial. Thank you GetYourGuide for easing the process to book and enjoy an epic New York experience; you did not disappoint. Jim - our family is grateful for your good nature, humility, and attempts at humor (wait, you really are funny). Simply stated, you're the best! Many sincere thanks, Jersey travelers with family first-timers in tow.

Jim was a GREAT guide! He shared such wonderful perspectives, as well as personal experience about this terrible tragedy. The tour and Jim’s commentary also reinforced the resilience and resolve of New Yorkers to rebuild and create a moving memorial site to honor the victims.
Jim also provided some very interesting history of New York’s founding, along with humor at the appropriate times.
I would definitely recommend this tour!
My only suggestion is that you bring cash to tip. Jim doesn’t do Venmo and I didn’t have any cash to provide him a tip to thank him with a liitle financial gratitude.

My 14 year-old daughter and I took a tour with Debbie Mason, and she was absolutely phenomenal. Such incredible knowledge about the history of NYC, especially the events of 9/11. And she was extremely generous with sharing personal, and painful stories about the 9/11 tragedy. This, combined with her sense of humor, made for a really valuable, memorable, and informative tour. My daughter and I both learned so much in the two short hours, and could have followed Debbie around the city all day with her knowledge, heart, and humor.

This was a tour given by Marc Landrum. He had us feel like we were all New Yorkers who had lived through that awful day. The impact on the rescue workers, especially the fire department personnel, was devastating. He really made us feel as though we were walking on sacred ground when we were viewing the memorial reflecting pool and the trees. He also told us of the resilience of New Yorkers and the tribute that they created for those that perished. Great tour!

What time are tours and what is the cost? I am trying to find a tour that leaves around 2
Written 31 October 2019
the walking tour leaves at 12 noon. You get to the 9/11 museum around 2-2:30. You are then allowed to stay as long as you want (until it closes). If you do not do the walking tour, I advise getting tickets in advance to the museum to avoid the long lines
Written 31 October 2019
Hi. I am interested in going to the 9/11 museum and doing your tour. The difference incost between the tour and the admission is more than the charge for museum entry. Please clarify
Written 11 September 2019
The tour is a minimum of 2 hours walking around the external area from the two pools to the two churches near the memorial. It gives you a different perspective. The guide then buys the tickets for entry into the museum. From that point you are on your own and can spend as much time as needed in the museum. That is why the difference in cost.

Hi, I'm flying into LGA arriving at 10:15 a.m on the morning I plan to take the tour, drop my bag off at hotel in Times Square then proceed to tour location. Would the noon tour be too early, or should I plan for 2pm? Not sure how much time to allow for taxi from airport to hotel etc. Thanks!
Written 6 August 2019
We flew into JFK and the traffic to our hotel in Times Square was very heavy, don’t know about La Guardia but I would certainly go for the 2 pm tour. If you do get there early you could always walk around the area to get a ‘feel’ for the location.
