About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- ianj2580 contributionsDon’t book a ticket unless clear visibility is guaranteed on the day you want to come!Terrible experience ! We had tickets booked for the sunset with Champagne package, but unfortunately snow meant visibility was poor. They say there is a bad weather rebooking guarantee but don’t say on the website this needs to be used within one year. We could not guarantee we will be back within a year as from UK, so opted to do the experience with offer of 20% bar credit (photo of said bar included). Had to ask for voucher, then had to wait ages for a ‘Manager’ to arrive to provide a code. Champagne served in a plastic glass. For over $100 each not worth the money or hassle. This is NOT the way to welcome tourists to New York!Written 15 February 2025

- ronmK6378NF0 contributionsLoved being on the edgeWe loved it , a bright cold afternoon led to great views , totally blown away. We booked online and got a 25 per cent discount so went for the deal including a glass champagne each and got to keep flutes albeit plastic but a nice touch . There is curling available too and an abseiling attraction if you fancied that. I do not have a head for heights in anyway but felt fine on the whole except for the glass floor bit which I swerved . Nice seating area to take in views too . Wasn’t impressed by Hudson yards .Written 9 February 2025
- BigWebO0 contributionsView that's okayWhile the view is open and in the fresh air, I liked The Summit more for the dollar value in February '24. Again, there is nothing wrong with NYC Edge. The glass to walk over to the view down below is nerve pounding.Written 4 February 2025
- esteveyb0 contributionsDon’t waste your time - chaotic, disorganised and unsafeDon’t waste your time. There are other better viewing platforms, the whole experience is poorly organised and chaotic. We arrived after sunset when there were plenty of tickets available for all time slots - clearly they had faults with some of the lifts as we were put into a service lift that was the opposite of the glamorous, expensive luxury portrayed. The viewing platform itself is nice - but relies on the public to self coordinate when trying to queue for photos on ‘the edge’ - this in itself creates tension when some want to take 100 different photos and videos. However, I witnessed if you raise a selfie stick, a staff member appears to tell you that is not permitted. To leave the 100th floor viewing platform level, the queue snaked round the entire building. The entire experience is overrated, overpriced, disorganised, chaotic, and to be quite honest, I’d suggest unsafe.Written 1 February 2025
- Thedon1520 contributionsEdge NYCWhat an experience. It was advertised as no visibility as snow had started to come in. Visibility went and came but surprisingly this helped make the view. When in cleared it was like a theatre pulling the curtains back. Looking through the glass isn’t for the feint hearted and I never tested standing aloe laying down on the glass.Written 24 January 2025

- Windmills19800 contributionsAvoidWe first visited The Edge 18 months ago and loved it, it was our favourite observation deck in NYC. Sadly after revisiting, we would never return nor recommend it to anyone. There were huge queues to get in, and even bigger queues to get back out! The deck itself was insanely crowded and the view could not be enjoyed at all. It was a complete waste of time and money. Avoid!Written 6 January 2025
- Carmen G0 contributionsDisappointing and disorganizedThe experience on the deck was great and worth it. But the line to get in was very disorganized, unfair to employees, and unnecessary given all the room they have inside. I hope there is a valid reason to not have lines inside the Edge area given the disaster in the already crowded mall area. Most of all I felt really sorry for the employees that were put out front of angry crowds that would not listen and were belligerent because of the obvious disorganization. There was not enough room to line up, not enough employees to answer all the customers’ questions, people cutting in line because there are not enough employees to enforce the rules being shared by the few there were, etc, etc.Written 5 January 2025
- Belinda M0 contributionsQueues queues queuesOur 4.20pm sunset ticket involved a long queue - we had to go past all the hype about the amazing new building....to find only 2 small elevators. We didn't get to the top until after sunset at 5pm. We were on the observation deck for about 20 minutes - lovely view - but then found ourselves in another massive queue for 45 minutes to get down again. Only 2 lifts for hundreds of people.Written 3 January 2025

Highly recommended for those who enjoy heights - after this, all skyscraper viewing platforms will seem tame. Not cheap at $185.00 plus tax, but you get your money's worth. Safety regulations are rigorously and repeatedly followed. After orientation, you will take the elevator to the 100th-floor viewing area, where you will don your jumpsuit and safety harness. The harness will be checked (4 times) and attached to a sled that is locked onto a heavy safety rail for the whole trip outside. You now step outside and ascend to a platform about 104 stories high, with a view down to the street. Your guide will point out a few sights. This must also serve to give those who panic a chance to step back inside before they commit to the rest of the climb. You then ascend an exterior staircase (no guard rail, but you are firmly tethered) to the upper platform at about 110 stories. You are encouraged to lean out facing outwards (supported by your harness). After this each person individually can lean out backwards for photographs and video, before you are lead back into the infrastructure. Afterwards you may linger on the regular 100th floor viewing platform.
The experience is exhilarating but entirely safe - you could not fall or even escape the safety mechanisms if you tried.
Points to note
The experience takes a good two hours and cannot be shortened (and no bathroom breaks).
Tickets specify "rain or shine" so be sure that weather and visibility will be good before booking.
Avoid very hot days (you must wear a full jumpsuit and climb about 8 stories outdoors).
You must place all loose objects except eyeglasses and wedding rings. in a locker so no cell phones or cameras (they will check).
Photographs are available for $20, You will receive a free video of your climb, but you may not see much of yourself if you are towards the end of the line of climbers. However, it will include an individual shot of you leaning backwards off the top platform.
There are weight (310 lb) and height restrictions.
You cannot climb if intoxicated (you will be breath tested).
The top platform overlooks the regular viewing platform about 10 floors below, so it is not a straight view down to the street.

I did this on Sunday 4th February 2024 and absolutely loved the experience, it was faultless from start to finish. The guides were amazing and the whole experience was incredible, it was worth every penny of the $201.
However, after it finished, they charged me $33 for four absolutely terrible quality photos, like so so bad. As soon as I saw them, I felt disappointed and ripped off. It’s such a big experience and the photos are just pathetic. Even the video included, which takes a few days to come, is not great.
You guys really need to send somebody over to Toronto CN Tower or Sydney Tower, to see how there photographers take photos and videos of their similar experiences, I loved both those and have some good memories.
I believe it’s a third party that does your photos, so if that’s the case, you really need to tell them to up their game. $33 is already daylight robbery for photos, but they know people will pay it for the memories, so the least they can do is deliver a good quality package since they’re already stupidly overcharging you for it.
People do these things for the experience and want memories of it, it’s a big big experience for a lot of people. You guys really need to improve your photo game. I’ve included the four photos in this review, I’m sure everyone reading will agree, they’re not worth $33.

Firstly, 'The City Climb' experience and the 'Edge Observation deck' should be clearly defined as two very seperate businesses in the same building!
I booked The Climb experience months in advance to pick the Climb nearest to Sunset and get the best views of NYC coming to life at night as the Sunset over Lady Liberty
The initial stages of accessing the climb was nothing short of shambolic - The queuing system/ signage/ general chaos and layout is an absolute joke. It took basically barging to the front of the queue to find where the Climb was and go from there.
Access to the City Climb is at the same entrance as the observation deck, but this is not obvious at first look - especially during Holiday season with vast hoards of people and two staff memebers!
I cannot emphasise enough how truly woeful The Edge Observation deck organisation is. It really needs addressing!! Overselling of tickets, terrible staffing levels, awful layout. The list goes on!
Once through the throngs of people, and in the hands of The Climb staff, things improved rapidly!!
Safety is paramount and you should allocate a few hours for this activity. Safety briefs and checks take well over an hour, before you suit up and head to the top.
The climb itself is not physically taxing, more a mental obstacle of walking up the outside of the Skyscrapers last couple of dozen steps to a viewing platform. At the top you have the options of leaning out over 'The Edge' for the obligatory Insta photos! Heart in your mouth stuff here! (Photos are all professionally done, as you cannot carry cameras, phones etc for obvious reasons)
The City Climb staff were commendable in their attitude and demeanour, and appraoch to keeping everyone feeling safe and happy.
City Climb was a great activity, and quite unique in NYC. Hopefully they can seperate their business from the clowns at The Edge observation deck!!

I enjoyed and appreciated the safety concerns put in place. Our equipment was checked and checked and checked again. We were clipped onto the railing system with 2 huge carabiners, one in front and one in the back. Then there was a 3rd one latched to our middle until we got up on the actual platform at the top of the climb. I am 71 years of age and I did this with my 16 year old granddaughter. I was very apprehensive but this is something she wanted to do on her first trip to NYC and the other 2 people in our group were physically unable to do this, but you have to be 18 to go up alone so I swallowed my fears and off we climbed. OMG it was awesome. I did not do the leaning part but my fearless granddaughter did. I would do it again. It was thrilling. Our main guide was Dexter and he was very conscious about all the safety features being checked and checked. It takes a good hour for all of the safety procedures and gear to be put in place. Overall it takes about 2 1/2 hours and worth every minute.
The reason for the 4 stars is the companion part where others in the party are supposed to be able to watch the climb. Well, the climb itself cannot be watched but there is a way to see the lean if you are properly advised of the timing the group reaches the top and which side to look at. Would you really know it was your party you were seeing...without binoculars, no but you could pretend or you could be put in a certain location and offered binoculars to use. No reason why there could not be communication of some sort to accommodate this.
The other 2 members of our party paid to go to the Edge platform under the assumption they would be able to "watch" but this was not the case. Also, since there is a very long wait for non climbing party members as stated above, it is very inconvenient to hang out on the Edge platform where there are no rest rooms or even any decent snacks. Lots of alcohol vendors and candy, chips. But to have folks hang out and wait for 2 plus hours with no bathroom is a bit much.
As I said, I would do to again with someone else but would advise anyone else in my party not climbing to wait a couple of hours then come up to enjoy the view.
The other issue was there were very few items of interest in the gift shop for The Climb but tons for the Vessel which you can no longer visit on your own. I was very disappointed in the selection.

This most amazing/scary experience. There was a group of 4 of us, we did it for our 30th birthdays. The visibility wasn’t good the day we went, if this happens they do offer to let you come back another day. However, we had booked for the last day of our trip so we just had to go for it. It cleared up for us so had some great views in the end. Every city climb staff member was super friendly from the desk staff to the guys who got us geared up. We got paired with Bueno and Care. They took ‘care’ of us from start to finish. Bueno was very patient especially as we will were quite nervous when it came to the leaning over the edge part. He guided us through it all very calmly but also kept it light and fun. There was a lot of safety checks at each point we went through so although you were 1200ft above the city you didn’t feel unsafe at any stage. It would have been extra amazing had we got better weather but unfortunately it’s the one thing you can’t control. Other than that the best experience and I would highly recommend!!

If you're reading reviews wondering if it's worth it, don't, just book it and get prepared for some stunning views across Manhattan. The staff are really nice and enthusiastic, like most New Yorkers. Everyone was in a great mood and I get the impression that they love their jobs. I won't bore with the equipment prep but after you're done, you'll walk up a steep flight of steps on the outside of the building to the platform - the guys get Go Pro footage of the whole experience on the way and you have also have pictures taken if your front and rear leans. Once the group is done you walk down another set of regular steps before detaching from the building (that's how safe it is) and descending down around 5 flights of stairs where you remove your harness & suit. Physical pictures are $30 for collection when you leave and the footage is included in the price. I'm told the footage should be ready in a day or two. Digital pictures are also uploaded online after a day or two also but I assume this is for additional $. My fiance and mum were watching from the Edge observation deck below so I joined them afterwards. The whole experience taken around 80 minutes. Just a great experience whilst in Manhattan and worth every penny!

Celebrating my 42k (or 26.2 miles) New York marathon the day before I had a magical afternoon watching the sunset and a full moon at the same time at 387 meters above a beautiful city. I was alone except my to guides Chris and Safi. They together with all staff made it a very funny and of course safe experience.

This experience was incredible! I would 100% recommend even if you’re scared of heights! You get the best unobstructed views of the city. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Even thou there was a mix-up with our tickets at the start and a 1-hour delay, staff were so kind and helped us massively pluck up the courage to hang off the edge! Unfortunately, I slipped on the stairs on the way up and hurt my knee but was still able to make it to the top. The stairs on the way up are a workout, and it is bloody freezing. Due to the pain of my knee, i didn't feel comfortable hanging off the edge, but I enjoyed the views and what was around me. Jason and the manager are an absolute credit to this experience, so thank you so much for making this the best attraction I've done ever done. I did this solo with a group of Germans in our group. Who were very kind to me. I'd recommend you don't do it alone and do it with a friend. Next time I'm back in New York, I've unfinished business and will be back to do the hang off the edge!

The preparations were very good (security was checked twice or even three times). Both experts/carers were motivated and gave good instructions.
It was a good experience, but it only lasted 10 minutes. I am also disappointed with the recordings and photos. I paid $210 and they aren't even able to use a professional camera? They took the photos with their cell phones. Maybe I come from a country where there is a reason why the price is high - from A to Z.
The experience was good but it was all very short...
Nevertheless, it was worth the experience!

This is certainly overpriced but I was happy to pay as this is truly one of the most unique urban experiences out there! In my opinion it was not very scary and definitely super safe. It’s basically stairs on the outside of the building with no glass, but it is designed for this purpose. There are a lot of stairs to climb (about 5 stories worth) but the views were absolutely exceptional! Shout out to Reese and company for making it a great time.
