Our family had a great experience doing this tour. We were only in Philly for a day and a half, so this was a perfect way to see a majority of the sites expediently. Our tour guide was a college student who knew ALOT about the city's history (and was really funny), so it made for an enjoyable tour. We lucked out that it was a warm, sunny day in early April to tour. You see the city and the major sites. We found it was easy to hop on/off, especially as you are allowed to ride the other company's bus as well. I recommend doing this tour your first full day in the city and do it first thing in the morning -- it was less busy. We caught the bus at the Independence Hall stop. The only thing that we found challenging was buying the tix using our mobile device. There was a glitch (maybe it was our phone) but it was a frustrating experience. Would do the tour again, and probably do one of the night tours they offer. Great experience.

I spontaneously decided to do this bus tour on a two day visit to the city and I’m so glad I did. Loved learning about the history around town. The guide I got - I think his name was Matt - was so knowledgeable, engaging and high-energy. He made the city come to life and there were families waiting at stops hoping there was space on our bus to hear from him. Thanks Matt!

Good tour of the Philadelphia area. Big Bus has an affiliation with City Sights, so we ended up going on a bus from City Sights. The bus is very high so great views. But no AC inside. Overall I would recommend to stay on for the 90 minute tour, then hop off/on on the second time.

I'm rating this as Average as the bus driver, Tiffany, and the narrator were great and very informative. We stayed on the bus for the full 90 minute tour - thank goodness we did because when did disembark another bus didn't arrive for 50 minutes - then two came together. Many people were turned away from the bus because it was full when they'd been waiting to board along the route for an hour.
It would have not been possible to do a Hop on Hoff city tour and we ended up having to use different city buses to get us to other sights we had decided to visit. It was a very informative tour but should not be advertised as an On Off Bus - it isn't!

Hello gladys3152 Thank you for choosing Big Bus Philadelphia. Your feedback is important to us. I am pleased that both the driver and guide provided a good tour experience. I do apologize for any inconvenience you experienced due to traffic and detour delays on the day of your visit. Our tour is a Hop On/Hop Off tour with buses departing every 30 minutes from Stop #1, but the bus can be affected along the tour route due to unanticipated traffic events and or detours.

We bought a two day sightseeing tour but did not need it. You can easily see lots in one day and her tons of pictures while on the bus. The guides are very knowledgeable. The only reason I would give four stars is because we asked about a restaurant and the girl didn’t really help us out just tried taking us out of the restaurant and recommend another place. Bring we aren’t from Philly, we listened, and it was terrible. But, other than that I highly recommend this tour

Hello Jol368, Thank you for choosing Big Bus Philadelphia. I am pleased you enjoyed the tour and thank you for acknowledging the expertise of our professional guides. It is unfortunate that you and whoever you asked for a restaurant recommendation have different tastes when it comes to dining out. Perhaps you should write a separate review for the restaurant on the restaurant's site.

Because of COVID19, you will not be allowed to "hop on/off." You ride on the bus for the 90 min city tour. The tours run every hour and it's first come first serve. They are only allowing passengers on the upper deck (lower level closed) and the capacity is 30. Once the first 30 board you will then need to wait an hour for the next bus. Various vendors sell tickets so you wont know until you get to the stop if you will get on or not. None of the sellers will tell you this so be prepared. This was the ONLY hop on/off company currently operating using ONLY 2 buses.

Hello passpornflipflops, I do apologize for any inconvenience you experienced due to precautions and restrictions in place as necessitated by the pandemic. We have focused our efforts on providing a safe environment for staff and guests, while still providing a fully narrated 90 minute tour of our beautiful city.

My husband grew up in Philly, and I've always wanted to visit- the history in that city is just incredible. Husband, MIL, and I flew in Thursday evening, first thing Friday we got on a bus with our driver Jerry and our guide Jim. As a Chicago river tour guide, I firmly believe one of the best things tourists in a New city can do is take a guided tour. The hop on/hop off option is great, but we did the whole circuit in one go. We sat up top, even tho it was a chilly day and close to the front where the wind screen took the brunt of the breeze. Jim was great. Wonderful combo of info and humor. Jerry deftly maneuvered through tight streets and silly traffic. As a self professed history nerd I had a blast. Learned things I didn't know and laughed obnoxiously at many of Jim's jokes.

He even touched on the one thing I wanted to ask: my husband swears cheese whiz is the proper cheese for a cheesesteak. I'd never had one before and Jim said cheese whiz...so that's what I got on mine when I got it that night. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was delicious.

Thanks to both guys for helping start my weekend in Philly with a fun and informative ride around town.

We have taken the Hop On Hop Off bus in many cities, sadly Philadelphia was not our best experience. Don’t understand why you pay in advance for just a voucher which you then have to take to one particular spot to redeem for your ticket. That really put a cloud on everything. We were too far away so they did send a shuttle, but it made things more difficult. The guides were excellent, drivers were extremely skilled, it was just some of their processes that were difficult.

This company is the absolutely worst! We reserved 2 tickets for today in advance for Philly and upon getting to the first stop and waiting for 30+ mins learned that the buses were not running today due to the Veterans Day Parade (which would have been great to know when their website allowed me to book tickets… for today only). That’s fine, I get that parades are outside of the company’s control - but when I contacted customer service (via chat because phone is not available) they kept insisting that service is running today (we walked around all day and not 1 bus was running) and although they confirmed that they could see our tickets were unused, would not issue a refund. After 30+ mins of sitting on that chat waiting for the Rep to respond, now I have to wait 14 days for a “local service” Rep to contact me via e-mail 🤞🏻 what a headache! I would not recommend this company and will not be using them again.
