Philly’s Italian Market
Great wealth of information of Philadelphia’s art, culture and history and their Italian market was provided by our tour guide Chuck. We visited a variety of Italian shops. The one improvement that I would suggest is to incorporate more food tastings and more opportunities to sit and eat.

Loved loved our tour of the Italian Market with Chuck!
Sep 2021
My husband and I took the Urban Adventures Italian Market Immersion and it was Awesome. Chuck is a retired professor, local to the neighborhood, so he had so much to share about the location, as well as the history of Philadelphia. We learned so much in such a short time. First we walked around the neighborhood where he showed us spectacular murals by Isaiah Zagar, made from handmade tiles, and broken pieces or glass, mirrors and random objects. We had seen the murals as we walked the streets before, but were able to appreciate the art and details after Chuck's explanation much much better. The Italian Market experience was great too. He took us to all the good places, had samples of cheese, pastries, nuts, balsamic vinegar, and others. All the vendors were very friendly and accommodating. What I enjoyed from the trip was that we never felt rushed. It was a very relaxed and friendly stroll with a wonderful host. Would highly recommend it!

Great tour, Great guide (Chuck)
Sep 2021
This tour was one of the best walking tours we have taken(and we have taken many in many places). Chuck was engaging, very knowledgeable, and entertaining. I grew up in the Philly area and I still learned a lot from his tour especially about the early history of the city. It was such an added plus that he is a long time resident of this area and waved, said hello, or talked to many “locals” like him throughout our walk. We would heartily recommend this tour to anyone — most of it was on the side streets and alleyways which, in themselves, make this tour so worthwhile.

BRILLIANT morning with CHUCK!
Sep 2021
Our tour guide, Chuck, was absolutely BRILLIANT! He was so personable and made my daughters and I feel so welcome! His passion for the streets of S. Philly was evident, as a local himself, he was so genuine. He took us into shops, where he knew the owner, gave us samples of Italian cuisine and gave us a real taste of the beauty and charm of the area. I recommend the extended Magic Gardens tour, which includes admission and TONS of information about the artist, Isaiah Zagar, and his work. Just a really lovely way to spend a morning. THANK YOU, CHUCK!

Solid immersion experience. Take the tour!
Sep 2021 • Couples
What a great tour. Chuck our guide was excellent and combined history, art, food, drama and humor into a wonderful Friday morning. Learned a lot about Phildelphia and this “iconic” market, really was taken away by Lazart’s art on the walls of the homes around South street and beyond, delighted in Sarcone’s
Bread, diBruno’s cheese and sweet cashews, and Mexican bruschetta. All while listening to Chuck’s neighborhood experiences and his insight into Philadelphia history and the story behind the cheesesteak rivalry. Then Chuck left us with his list of the foot walks we could do to add to our experience and some of his favorite restaurants/eateries.
Thanks Chuck. It was an amazing day.

Mind and gastrointestinal delight!

Ask for Chuck! Chuck is an extremely knowledgeable individual on all topics related to Philadelphia. Chucks hot takes on the artwork of the city was refreshing and insightful. We laughed, we ate, we embraced a culture and style of life that is vastly different from our own. Debating the finer points of the steak sandwich and cheeses will live in my thoughts for far longer than I figure will be possible. Thank you again, Chuck. My family from the deep South greatly appreciate your hard work and dedication to your passions.
