      Great tour
Good tour and tasting - especially the mixes they make. They have english or french options. The tour is free and includes interesting information.

Don’t miss this - everyone loved it
Surprised on the upside! We weren’t expecting such a professional (and free) tour of the farm. What a fascinating experience. Everyone from our 13-year old to the parents loved it. At the end of the tour we had a tasting (also free) and had the opportunity to purchased products. They say to allow an hour - we were there for two hours and we didn’t even have lunch. Definitely visit this place. It was one of our best experiences in Cambodia.

Free tour of yhe farm - Really Nice
We learn a lot of the pepper itself and also how they make pepper here. The tour length is perfect , at the end you taste various pepper and of course you can buy some if you want. The whole activity and place is very nice, it's not so hot and wlking there on the sun or shadows is quite okay.

      Great tour
We stopped here as part of an organised day trip. Even on New Year's Day (1 Jan) it was still hot. We arrived and used the toilets and then waited in the main shop / lounge before the next English language tour started. They run several tours per day in different languages and if you're welcome to wait for the next one. The tour itself took about 45 minutes - they'll lend you a nice hat if you don't have one. This was pretty important given our tour was at noon. You see the different pepper plants and even get to try some seeds on your way around. The guide spoke great English and made the tour interesting an fun. Then back at the main shop, we had a tasting experience, trying out different flavours and blends that they make locally. There was no pressure to buy after the tour, although I did send up getting some different blends. Definitely recommended due to the friendly staff, great tour and chance to buy some quality local produce.

Unforgettable development tourism spice farm experience!
Of all the places I’ve visited in Cambodia, this is probably where I learned the most and really found inspiration in how they run their development venture. I refer to this latter point because this is a place where they go out of their way to treat their workers with respect, dignity, and with a family like sensibility. Though they don’t overemphasize it, their workers are housed in decent living quarters on-site at no cost. While I’d been to other spice farms around the world, the way this place is structured is quite different. Our guide, Leap (“Lee-epp”) took the time to describe in detail how and why each step of the process works. During the tasting session, she gave incredibly detailed descriptions of how each spice mix and sauce can be paired with variety of dishes. By that point, everyone must’ve been incredibly hungry because her she was quite vivid. But no worry, the restaurant didn’t disappoint. With a simple menu of traditional Khmer specialties, they really know how to season food in a way that you won’t find at Kampot restaurants. Even though I actually landed up buying quite a few spices, if the packaging was more durable I would have purchased even more since they have numerous unique products that you won’t find anywhere else in the country. Little vacuum packed bags that can’t be closed back up doesn’t really make sense for delicate spices. Some simple glass jars with solid tops would make a world of difference! My only regret was taking a tuktuk there. Because the road is being paved, there was a huge dust bowl throughout. Though the driver gave me a mask, I could feel the grit on my hair and face by the end of the trip. Probably would’ve been better to simply rent a car for the day, however the kind lady at the shop in town reassured me that I tuktuk would be fine.

      Interesting experience
It was interesting to see the farm, and I enjoyed the drive over in Tuk Tuk. Perhaps due to the time of year, the farm was a bit touristy and crowded. Our group was too large to really be able to enjoy the tasting they have after the tour. I did find a couple of pepper mixes I liked though.

A delightful and informative introduction to Cambodian cooking! Kudos to Ning (spelling?) for her excellent instructions, and many thanks to her assistants, too. It was great fun ending in a very tasty meal. :)

Interesting free activity you must do in Kampot
Unexpectedly fun. Do not pay for a guide on Tripadvisor just to come here! The entrance to the plantation is free and the tour is free (which includes a free tasting). The only thing you should organise is transport. The plantation is very peaceful. The staff are well organised and speak good English. The only pitfall is that during our tour it was very hot to stand during one of the explanations but this is outside of our control. The tasting of pepper and spices was great. However no one tried to pressure us into buying anything, which was a nice surprise. But the peppers tasted so good, we bought about 8 bags of different varieties!

      Needed Some Black Salt Pepper
I live most of the year in Cambodia and like to visit Kampot. My family often ask me to go to La Plantation to buy them the Black Salt Pepper. I enjoy riding my motorcycle out to La Plantation and find the service awesome and the atmosphere is fun. I’ll keep coming back and highly recommend this place.

      Don’t miss this!
This was such fun! The class includes a tour and a pepper tasting. Come hungry! We ended up hitting tons of spices too The food we made was yummy and we definitely learned a bunch. It is done as a group effort rather than every person doing every task, so you do have to remain curious about what others are doing, ie go and watch the person making coconut milk! Malini taught us and she was a gem. What a wonderful experience. They even feed your tuktuk driver while they await your return! Class act :)

      Pepper Farm
La Plantation is the best pepper in Kampot. They offer you the free tour English and French with nice tour guide. After the tour they also have pepper testing very educational to pairing spices. I recommend to visit there.

      Too expensive for my taste
We left after being charged $8 for 2 cups of ginger infusion. It is their right to charge these rates…and mine to feel ripped off. Best part of the visit was the lovely young French lady/host with whom we had nice conversation about the property.

Excellent tour and free. Wish we had more time to eat there and book a cooking class. Who knew pepper could be so interesting. The support this business gives to the local community is fantastic. We are English and our tour guide spoke perfect English - well done to him.

      Pepper visit
It was very nice to interact with the local staff and farmers at the plantation, Our guide was very knowledgeable and we could do a free pepper tasting while he was explaining all the difference between the peppers. I may not remember everything he said but I remember for sure the pepper was excellent !

We went as a family with two of our daughters (23-25 years old) to take a Khmer cooking class. Top entertainment by a very funny and very competent young chef.
There were 12 of us, she had us prepare an amok, a vegetable curry including the preparation of curry paste with drumsticks and a mango salad which we tasted afterwards. A great moment of happiness punctuated by vanilla ice cream with red pepper. All for 25 &/person visit included which ends with a pepper tasting followed obviously by purchases of local products. We stayed there for 6 hours (the cooking class starts at 10 a.m.).

Very nice interesting visit especially if you are passionate about pepper like me!

the guide explained everything about the pepper harvest and we were able to do a tasting at the end of the tour.

The prices of the shop may be a little expensive but it remains a very nice memory and especially humanly speaking what this culture brings for the region is very remarkable.

We ate there for lunch and it was very good with dishes cooked with pepper from the plantation

I was only in Kampot for a day, so to fill in a couple of hours I hired a tuk tuk driver off the street and he took me to La Plantation. It's approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from town.
It's a lovely trip out through the countryside and farmlands in Kampot. You can stop at The Secret Lake along the way.
La Plantation's property is beautiful. Upon arrival you are asked to sit in a restaurant style cabana. You can order a drink while you wait for the tour.
The tour itself is FREE. The guide will explain the history of the farm and all the fruit that is grown there. She gave us a pepper corn straight from the tree to try. You will be guided through a small part of the property. It lasts for approximately 40 minutes.

After the tour, we went back to the cabana to do taste testing. I had to leave so I can't comment on the tasting.
There is a shop for pepper products to buy as well. The products in my opinion were quite reasonably priced.

Even if you don't like pepper, I recommend a visit to this beautiful property and enjoy the countryside scenery along the way.

The road by scooter is complicated. The plantation is a beautiful place but it is the feeling of tourist catching prevails. the guided tour is a bit botched by a French guide who looks bored. Its only purpose is clearly to make us spend our money in the shop where everything is attractive but overpriced. The botanical garden is superb and the restaurant delicious.

Cordialement, Olivier Rouanet

We had a great time at the plantation, where a young, passionate, welcoming and friendly team took care of us from start to finish. We learned everything about pepper, from growing it to selling it, and had the opportunity to taste different types of pepper. The visit to the estate was very interesting, orchestrated in an exemplary manner by our guide Simon, who was really invested in his mission. In summary, we highly recommend this place, which also has a restaurant that we did not have the opportunity to try, as well as a magnificent botanical garden! Congratulations to the owners for creating this place that is as magical as it generates jobs.

This is definitely worth a visit if you are in Kampot. You get to learn more about the local pepper that has achieved a worldwide status for its taste. The tour is free and runs in English and French. They also do a lot of good for the local area, schools and employment. Of course you can purchase things and there is a restaurant which has food drinks and ice cream. The Pepper Vanilla ice cream is the best I’ve ever had. Defo recommend.

Thanks to Olivier for the visit and discovery of this wonderful pepper farm under the hot Kampot sun! In addition to telling us the story of the farm, from its origin to its current operation, we were treated to a tasting of the different products made directly on site. We left with our bags full!

If you don't become a pepper expert by the end of your visit, you'll still have an exceptional time.
The visit is well worth a visit, without hesitation! We enjoyed the many explanations provided. There is also the tasting that makes us discover the different peppers and some spices.
And what we appreciated even more was the social involvement of the two French owners and visionaries at the source of this property. Among other benefits for employees, their children receive free schooling for the full day, which is not the case for children in Cambodia who go to school in the morning or afternoon. In addition, if they wish, scholarships are possible to allow higher education......
We had lunch at La Plantation and the meal, in addition to being VERY hearty, was delicious.
Our only regret is not knowing that we could now sleep on the site. There are some suites at the very top of the farm for nature lovers and quiet. The view is to fall on the ground! I would have really loved to stay there for a few days to rest away from any outside noise.... We'll have to come back!

A must-see on your visit to Cambodia!! The free tour was incredible - we learnt so much about the different types of peppercorns and long peppers, walked through the plantations and did a tasting at the end. There is also a beautiful shop to buy some goodies to take home. We ate lunch at the restaurant at La Plantation and can not recommend it highly enough! It was one of our favourite meals of our entire trip. The beef loklak, stir fried prawns and mango salad were delicious! You won’t regret visiting La Plantation!
