The depth of information about the early days of New Orleans musical heritage was amazing. We learned about a number of musicians that we had not heard about who made significant contributions, both locally and nationally and internationally. Pacing was great.

We were fortunate that our group was very small, so we were able to ask plenty of questions.

Keith was a very knowledgeable guide. He was a wealth of information. Keith was very family oriented making sure to include our 15 year old granddaughter. I wish I would have known our end point so we could have parked somewhere in the middle.

We took several tours on our visit to New Orleans in September of 2021 and this one was hands down the best. Keith Abel has a great sense of humor and a deep knowledge of the rich music scene of New Orleans. We loved walking with him down the streets where it all happened as he painted vivid scenes of jazz greats all the while listening to some of the specific tunes. Can't recommend more!

If you want to entrench yourself and learn more about the origins of blues , jazz, and rock and roll, then you’ll love this unique style of storytelling through a walking tour with a guide who is full of interesting stories that will blow your mind. He, himself is a wealth of musical knowledge with his background in the industry. I highly recommend this to any music enthusiast such as I.

Keith tells great, detailed stories about important and often overlooked musicians while walking you to some important and often overlooked places in the city. He doesn’t sugar coat the history, which I appreciated. My 70yo parents and I fully enjoyed ourselves and learned alot. A great way to spend the morning in NOLA.

Surprised it was just the two of us but then appreciated I could ask questions that may have been off topic and not annoy anyone. Started a little slow but then we walked through city discussing the beginning of blues and jazz. Although my husband is a fan I really knew little going in but feel I learned a lot about NOLA’s contribution to music. It helped to have learned a little of NOLA history beforehand so I could relate it to these music stories. Music samples were played on phone, but that’s okay because most of the great artists talked about are no longer with us. Face it, only a few street artists are out at 10am. Worthwhile tour if you are interested in music and culture.

My 12 year old son and I did this tour and very much enjoyed it. I learned a lot and enjoyed seeing the city through the lens of music history. NOLA is such a fascinating place and it can be easy to just indulge in its offering without paying attention to the history. Even my stoic, very critical son, later confessed to me that he enjoyed the tour and that the guide was funny and fun. I would definitely recommend. Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the tour was the guide running into locals that he knows.

We had a great time learning about the history or music in the city! Very nice walk around neighborhoods with other stories and wonderful jazz music mixed in! Masks worn the whole time d/t Covid restrictions. In a group of about 11 but felt safe as it was 99% outside.

My teenage daughter and I took this tour on April 1 (no joke!) and really enjoyed seeing the city through the lens of blues & jazz music history. We saw a ton of sites and learned a great deal about Nola’s musical heritage. Keith was enthusiastic and somehow manages to speak clearly through the mask! And Keith, if you’re reading this, order the shrimp scialatielli at Compere Lapin. :)
