About
Discover one of Louisiana’s most significant historical landmarks, and leave all the logistics to someone else, when you book a tour of either Laura Plantation or Oak Alley Plantation. The former is a restored Louisiana Creole plantation, and the latter, true to name, is renowned for its 300-year-old oak trees. Whichever you choose, you can step back in time; pay tribute to the plantation’s dark history; and learn more on an in-depth, guided tour.

Beautiful Oak Trees
May 2021 • Couples
The grounds and the house were beautiful… The tour guides in the house were very knowledgeable. My only concern was with our bus driver… Although the tour company stressed masks were required, the driver never wore one, nor did he care of some of the passengers wore one, even when I asked him.

Bring a jacket and a lot of patience
The long and short of it, bring a jacket and wear long pants! This is a critique of the drive to and from the plantation, which is what you are buying. The tours of the Plantation are provided by the plantation and are excellent. The bus driver there and back was great, full of stories and a solid driver. Here’s what killed it for us. It was a cold and rainy day and the AC was on in the bus. I asked a number of times to turn it down, and he did, but we and others were still very cold and to shy to make a fuss. What’s worse is it blows on the back of your neck and feet, which today were wet because of the rain. When we stepped out into the 70 degree air I wanted to kiss the sky! Such a relief. So if your don’t love cold AC when you are dressed for a warm day, bring fall weather clothes for the two hour round trip.
ONE MORE THING, and this is for the company to read. Please make people pay before they get on the bus! Making us wait while the driver hand types in the credit card information into his phone to collect payments for 20 minutes before we get started is just insulting and made us late to the tour. Everyone was grumbling. Other companies don’t do it this way. Lesson: Next time I’ll rent a car.

Really interesting tour
Mar 2020
We travelled from NOLA with Southern Style Transportation, our driver was funny and knowledgable.

At Oak Alley it was Rhett who showed us around the house. He was also knowledgable and could answr any questions we had.

There was also a girl giving a talk outside the slaves huts (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name). She was excellent, so passionate about the subject.

We were there about 2 hours and this was long enough, we covered everything we wanted to see in 2 hours.

Wonderful Morning Tour of Oak Alley
Mar 2020
Steven picked us up timely and after several other pickups, headed out for a 3-1-2020 morning tour of Oak Alley, with some folks dropped off at Laura Plantation for a tour of that plantation. Steven provided a nice history of the plantation era, and also shared some information about the wildlife prevalent in the bayou and swamp regions. The crowds were low in the morning and it was a perfect upper 60's, low 70's temperature. We so enjoyed this experience, and highly recommend the morning tour.

Beautiful Plantation View up Oak Alley
Feb 2020
We did the Oak Alley tour and enjoyed our visit there. The plantation viewed from Oak Alley is very beautiful. The slavery exhibit was very informative and interesting, such a terrible part of history that should never be forgotten. The sugar movie was interesting also.
Our ride to and from the plantation was fun!!! Our guide was Steven and he kept us entertained just the right amount of time to keep the drive interesting with little tidbits of history and enough humor to dispel the sadness felt over the fact that there was a time human beings were treated as objects because of the color of their skin.
My boyfriend gets bored with long drawn out tours so for us this was the perfect mix of guided and self-guided touring. I would have loved to have been able to tour the kitchen and given a little more of that side of the plantation history. Other than that it was good

Lovely Laura Plantation
Feb 2020
I enjoyed the rich history that is still known about the 4 generations that owned and lived on Laura Plantation. I also liked that it wasn't a very "commercial" tour site; just a small gift store. The self guided museum was worth spending time in. The guide was knowledgeable and was able to answer questions well.
We also liked that we were only gone 5 hours, giving us time to enjoy the rest of the day in New Orleans. Steven, our shuttle driver, was great and kept us entertained on the hour+ trip each way.
