What to expect
Choose from several morning departure times and embark on a 6-hour Kenai Fjords National Park cruise from Seward. Step aboard a 95-foot-long (29-meter) non-smoking cruise vessel designed with comfort in mind. Capture views of jagged icy cliffs along the Kenai Peninsula, fjords and calving glaciers — from inside the warm and spacious cabin equipped with seating and large picture windows, or from the multi-level observation decks. Enjoy a fast cruising speed, with extra time to photograph and view wildlife and glaciers. Learn about the evolving geology of the Harding Icefield, which dates back to the ice age and forms the steep fjords. As you journey approx. 100 miles (160 km) round-trip from Seward, marvel at the breathtaking landscape teeming with marine life amid plankton-rich waters, which attract migrating whales. Hear from your seasoned captain about the wildlife you’re likely to see at peak season, which may include humpback, minke and orca whales, as well as harbor seals, sea otters and porpoises. Catch sight of migratory seabirds that nest in the Kenai Fjords, as well as other native flora and fauna. Watch puffins dive underwater and view the rookeries of more than 18 other bird species in the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, including black-legged kittiwakes and common murres. Enjoy an onboard lunch (see sample menu below) before the captain sets voyage back to Seward port.

In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Great trip
Sep 2021
The tour was absolutely wonderful. We saw whales, sea lions, lots of birds, puffins, beautiful glaciers, and beautiful scenery. The crew was helpful in answering questions and available at all times. The hot chocolate was very good on a chilly day. I suggest when you get on the boat, you get a seat inside so you have a table for lunch, otherwise you may end up sitting on one of the benches on the outside. You can still go outdoors to view anything you want to at any time. Some people preferred to be outdoors though and never come in, Personal preference but with younger children we opted to have a table. We arrived earlier than planned so were able to move to the earlier cruise which was nice. Sailing was smooth. If you don't like chicken wraps with a lot of lettuce on it, I suggest you bring something else along to eat or just get the kids chicken strips. They were actually very good and the kids liked them. I like wraps to did enjoy the food but two in our party didn't like so much lettuce and other fillers on them.

Highly recommended on a one day tour to Seward
Sep 2021
We took the Kenai Fjords National Park Tour which fitted in well with our train from Anchorage. The cruise itself was very enjoyable, the crew were very friendly and made the trip a memorable experience. We had a wonderful time viewing the wildlife and the glaciers, and were also lucky to spot a humpback whales-a mother and her calf. Lunch was sufficient and they also has a vegetarian option. They also provide free shuttles to and from the Seward railroad station. Highly recommended!

Worse boat trip ever... waves were 12 to 13 ft high... boat was like a Rollercoaster for an hour... we thought we were going to die... or the boat flip over... real scary.
When we got back to shore and complained we were told that we had the option to cancel. The advisory only informed us that if the waters were rough that the captain would not go the entire route and that we would get a partial refund. I assumed since we went further it was safe... but it wasn't. People were sick. We did not get any refund or apologies.

We did go to a glacier and saw a few sea animals but this tour didn't go to the expected route where we would see another glacier and more islands. It wasnt worth $169.
.. I would have paid them to get off the boat.

Do this too in Seward!!
Sep 2021
Our boat tour with Kenai Fjords Tours was a highlight of our time in Seward. The boat is small enough that you don't feel overwhelmed with people and large enough that it feels safe. We had some bumpy water and our captain handled it wonderfully.

We saw so many sea otters, orcas, birds, seals, and the calving glacier. It's a magical experience standing at the bow of the boat watching a huge glacier crash into the sea.

Don't miss this if you are in Seward.

Fantastic!! This is the most incredible cruise!!
Magnificent & amazing scenery & wildlife! The staff are so professional & kept us informed on where the cruise was, what wildlife was spotted, the history, geography & explained the glaciers. Saw orcas, sea lions, otters, bald eagles, puffins, jumping silver salmon, swans. The ride was smooth until we entered the unprotected sections of Pacific Ocean but crew was very attentive & safety was a priority. The ocean colors are just so beautiful. The glaciers calving was incredible- no idea it sounded like thunder or gunshot before it calves into ocean. Chicken wrap was delicious & the cookies were too. Prepare for rain & sea spray - our rain jackets kept us dry the whole trip but we should have taken waterproof shoes & gloves. This trip is just out of this world!!! The best!!!

Got to See Whales!
Jun 2021
Everything with book and arrival was smooth. The boat updated and clean. Our captain did a great job of informing us about things as be passed by as well as the local wildlife we'd see out the windows. He made an excellent decision to take us slightly off course once he learned of a pod of humpback whales bubble netting in the area. He stayed there for an ample amount of time for pictures and viewing. Not only that, but he also made a slight diversion to see orcas as well. This alone sold our trip for us because of the unique he helped provide. Outside of wildlife, the scenery of the rocks, trees, and water was breathtaking as well. The lunch was a chicken wrap, chips, and cookies. Overall a great experience and fun way to spend the day.

Awesome experience
We sailed the Callisto Voyager. The weather was rainy and the seas were rough but the crew was extremely professional, attentive and added some humor to the trip. I would recommend anytime!

Trip aborted
Raining the am we went out (9/1). Staff said seas were rough and we could reschedule if wanted. This was our only day and they said that if the majority wanted to go we would go. So we went. The seas at first were calm, but we did hit some big swells about 40 minutes in. I'm not sure what people were thinking, but obviously they had either never been at sea, never heard about the sea, or overestimated their own abilities. There were approximately 10 people getting sick over the side rails and every millennial complaining loudly " I can't believe they brought us out here in this." Really?? They told you at check in that it would be rough. Did they think the cruise people were making it up? Needless to say the captain decided to turn back (I'm certain it was due to the whining, we've seen much worse swells on a fishing boat out of the OBX). Instead of heading straight back though, the captain kept us cruising slowly by Fox Island for about 2 hours!! This was completely unnecessary. There was nothing to see and everyone was bored ( my husband took a $150 nap). The highlight was one sea otter floating by. The captain tried his best to be entertaining and the crew made cookies for all, but everyone was just over it. We were back in by noon and promised a partial refund. I did receive a $99 credit today. I paid $332.48. I assumed half would be refunded but it's only about 1/3.

Great way to see glaciers
The trip was excellent. We saw a number of animals (of course there are no guarantees). The crew was friendly and informative. The large picture windows were nice for those that didn't want to go outside. We did both Resurrection Bay and the National Park Tour.

Could have been awesome
We were offered opportunity to cancel trip with full refund due to “possible weather” but due to limited time and no other day we decided to try our luck. My advise is if they are offering chance for refund - take it! They know they can’t sail. We spent hour and half following coast and only wildlife we saw were three puffins in the water. When we reached open waters to go nto fjord and do real wildlife viewing water so choppy we had to turn back. Instead of going back to shore we followed the cliffs for three more hours (In order to avoid full refund) and all we saw was a white speck on the mountain that turned out to be a goat. Almost everyone was on their phones bored and wanting to get back to shore. My complaint is the Company knew impassible and had already cut short several excursions that day before our trip departed. If we had known that we would have taken refund and found something else to do.
