      Easy bear spray rental
We rented bear spray and the rental was cost effective and better than buying it with high chances of discarding it upon flying home. Location is close to airport. Clear and easy communication. There is a small sign on the fence out front but if you miss the sign, the business isn’t very obvious but google maps will take you right there.

Glad we had these safety items
We were going hiking in Alaska as well as riding on bush planes to remote places. For safety, we rented satellite communicators and bear spray from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rentals. It was reassuring to know we had them ‘just in case’ something happened. And it did! We came face to face with a mama bear about 50 feet in front of us. She heard us coming which was helpful. However, she wasn’t moving away quickly either. We armed our bear spray until we knew we were in the clear. Thankfully we had it!!! We did not have to actually spray it and that was good too. The rental process was easy and Alaska Outdoor made it work for us. They delivered it to our hotel since we were on a tight schedule coming through Anchorage. Upon arrival, there it was for us. The drop off at their facility was just as quick and easy. Definitely rent from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental.

      Alyeska Ski and Snowboard rental
I rented downhill Skis and my friends rented snowboards. Skis were in great condition and had many boots or setups to try on. We love not having to wait in the rental lines at the mountain. They have flexible hours to pick up and return and fair prices.

Rental gear made the adventure comfortable
Being from San Diego, we were kept extremely warm by all the gear we rented. The gear we rented ranged in sizes which easily accommodated everyone in the party. We highly recommended this family owned business.

Car Camping Gear Saved our Trip
My husband and I rented the car camping set with Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental, and we had a fantastic experience! Typically, we bring our backpacking gear on a flight but due to the cooler and rainier Alaskan temperatures, we decided to rent gear instead. We are so glad we did! The gear was high quality, kept us warm and dry, and allowed us to have a great trip despite rain almost every day of camping! (It was also very cold a few nights!) Our backpacking set up from home doesn’t compare. (We’re from NC.) Plus, we had a great conversation with Michelle as we were picking up, and her recommendations were incorporated in our trip. Pick up and return was easy. An easy five stars!

Baby carrier Top of the line gear
We rented a baby carrier from Alaska outdoor gear and it saved our trip! The carrier was clean and top of the line. It even had a rain cover! We used it for hiking powerline pass, the zoo, and more! 10/10 recommend!

      Will Return
Though there wasn’t any type of fishing involved, there’s lots of things to do in Alaska. Next trip is to Juneau, then head for Fairbanks, and work our way south. We took the Alaska Railway to Talkeetna. Drove to Seward Aquarium, then Hooligans for lunch/dinner. Drove to Alyeska but, didn’t jump on the tram. Had the chance to visit Whittier, but didn’t. Gone to a few museums and visited a Faret shelter. Drove up to Hatcher Pass which was remarkable. Gone to the zoo, conservation wildlife, and last day on Elmondorf AFB, video mother and calf moose. There’s lots to do each day and lots of restaurants. Do your homework and plan your visit.

Peace of mind to have bear spray on trails...glad we didn't have to use it!
Rented bear spray and opted for drop-off service at our hotel. Easy return to their location. Everything worked out perfectly. No hassles. Could not have asked for a better experience.

      Super easy rental
Super easy—rented bear spray and a cooler for our stay in the Anchorage area. Loved the idea of renting the spray instead of buying some and throwing it out before flying home. Great location in midtown, easy process. Recommended.

      Winter Hiking Made Easy
We were looking to hike at Flattop mountain but were unsure whether to go for snowshoes or microspikes. Ultimately, with Michelle's help she helped us select microspikes - trekking poles were included!! We've never done it before, but with the right gear and knowledge it was a fun experience!! If you're hesitant like we were just stop on inside and the staff will be able to guide you to the best decision. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They will help you select the appropriate gear for the right activity.

      Quick, easy and less expensive
We decided to rent all our skiing gear from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental instead of at the ski resort. It was a great decision. We got everything we needed so fast and easy and it was less expensive than at the ski resort. After hours returns was also quick and easy. Will for sure use Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental any time we are in Anchorage.

Great experience for students in the Arctic
We used -40F Extreme Cold Package: We had a group (six people) of researchers and students from University of Northern Iowa traveling to Utqiagvik (Barrow) for a field experience on sea ice as a part of a research project. Most travelers in the team did not have prior experience in the Arctic in February, and had no gear. Students also could not afford to purchase gear just for one trip, and university could not fund such purchases. The Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental became a perfect solution for us and our institution. We we able to obtain first-class gear from an experienced provider with a variety of size and item options, convenient delivery (to out hotel and from our hotel in Anchorage) and really great attitude and flexibility. We had to make sore last minute adjustments, and they were not a problem. We fully enjoyed our two filed days on the ice edge at Point Barrow with -30+F wind chills and travel on snowmobiles. Had no issues with the gear or the company. Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental also was able to work with our university to arrange payments and paperwork. We have suggested Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental to our partners at other universities as a great solution for short trips with less experienced early career researchers and students.

I got a chance to make a quick 2 day business trip to Anchorage, and I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights. I found Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental on Trip Advisor when I was looking for tours and they were a life saver. The gear was clean and in good condition and kept me toasty warm. The cost was about the same as checking a suitcase, which I would have had to do to bring winter gear, and mine wouldn't have been as good as this. Several members of my tour were too cold to stay out with us the whole night, but I was toasty warm and got to spend three hours watching an amazing Northern LIghts display. I booked last minute, and didn't have a rental car, so I payed extra to have the items delivered and picked up from my hotel. They even threw in boots in two sizes to make sure I had ones that fit since I wasn't totally sure of my size. Highly recommend, would definitely rent from them again.

This place was great! We spoke to them before our trip and got all the gear we would need for a winter trip lined up and they delivered it to our hotel in Anchorage and when our trip was over, they picked it up at our hotel in Fairbanks. We had all we needed--parkas, boots, underlayers, gloves, balaclavas. We were toasty and warm all during our trip which included snowmachining, dog sledding, Northern Lights viewing, Snow shoe-ing and walking around outside. We also rented cross country skis from here one day and it was so easy and hassle free. Highly recommend using this company for all your gear needs! Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I took many pictures of the majestic mountains in Alaska. I was able to withstand the Alaskan winds with little ease. I took some wonderful pictures of moose. While I did not catch an Aurora, I know my daughter will dance under the Alaskan sky forever more.

The gear kept me warm the whole time I was out hiking and even while standing around looking at the aurora for over an hour. I never wanted to take off the jacket and honestly didn’t even realize how cold it is whenever I had it on! They were flexible and helpful and got me everything I needed quickly and had excellent recommendations to make sure I had a great Alaska experience. Can’t recommend highly enough! Will definitely use them again on my next trip.

I would like to thank you for the service provided at Alaska Outdoor Gear!
I am writing for my father, Luiz Henrique, who was in Anchorage in March and received excellent service from Michele and Dave. Michele was super friendly, attentive, perfectly guided in the choice of accessories and was the best choice my father had during his stay in Alaska!
He rented the cold weather clothes on 03/10 and they delivered perfectly to the hotel in another city, Fairbanks, in a sealed bag with his name, with the clothes he chose, everything right, without any problems! He rented the items for 3 days and on 3/15 he returned the bag with the clothes to the Fairbanks store. That was super handy because he didn't have to go back to Anchorage. Thank you very much for your attention!! We highly recommend the store, the service and the equipment, excellent quality!
