About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- K2849RJcarom0 contributionsGreat experience (but be aware of what you're getting into)My husband and I took the Europa en Jeans tour from VPT through Falabella. I had taken this tour back in 2017, so I was aware of the craziness and prepared for it. I'm afraid a lot of people take this tour without knowing what it takes, so here's it: 1. Great guides. María, Alicia (and Ana in 2017) were always willing to help, Alicia and Ana gave us their phone numbers, and Alicia was always ahead of our questions providing help on how to take public transportation, where to find public toilets, and everything without asking, she just took the lead. 2. Bus. Not good, doesn't have a bathroom. Make sure you bring earplugs because you'll most likely be traveling with 50+ people and the bus won't be quiet. The drivers (Joao and Luis) were excellent. 3. The tour itself. This is like the Hunger Games, in survival mode, with hotel arrivals at 8-9 pm and check out at 5-6 am. You'll be making lines to get out of the bus, pick up the luggage, give out the luggage, get your room card, have breakfast, basically everything. Probably one of the most difficult things is that you'll be sharing space with a lot of people and they will surprise you with a lack of empathy, education, or common sense (like, let me stop everyone trying to get off the bus while I search for my backpack, or let me see 100 tiktoks full volume on at 7 AM...) Something I complain about is that they gave us too much free time in Florencia on the 25th of December when there was not much to do. We decided to spend a couple of hours along the river under a tree and it was a nice (but freezing) experience. Same in Venice, way too much free time. The panoramics in Madrid, Paris, and Rome often are very shallow and will end in a spot to buy stuff in stores where they have a partnership (they don't tell you that but is a bit too obvious). We recommend you plan your day by yourself, use apps like CityMapper, and just have fun on your own, it will also help you take some fresh air without the bus and the trip people, which can get very overwhelming. Be aware that they'll recommend you eat in some places or take the services from a particular provider. If possible, dismiss most of those, they're only business intended. Here are some examples: 1) The Gondola recommendation: Hard NOOO! It was terrible, the gondolier spent the whole 10 minutes (which should have been 30) shouting at his partner from the other gondola, they were rude, never acknowledged us and just gave us a turn around the corner. Is also $10 EUR above the average. 2) Lunch in Florencia: You can skip it and find better options here on TripAdvisor. 3) The Paris Lights tour: Take it! The river trip in the Sena is amazing, unforgettable and one of my fav experiences, just loved it. I've done it twice and have fallen in love twice. The tour that follows is very basic tho, with almost no historical insight. But the river trip makes it worth it. 4) We didn't take the Monaco, Pompey, Vatican, Versailles, Moulin Rouge, etc, tours. They were way too expensive for basically just a transportation service. Also, at the point you get to those tours, you're exhausted from the non-stop dynamic. 5) The perfume and Murano glass and souvenir stores they take you to, hard pass. Go to other places and find better options, you've already paid the VPT agency enough to be also spending on their partners with high prices and ugly products. 6) The Munich tour: NOOO. They will take you anyway because the bus has to do the tour before getting to the hotel. Just say no and you'll get the "free tour", because they just offer it to get extra cash, is actually included. 4. The hotels... Mmm, what can I say? You will most likely get different hotels than us, but definitely keep your expectations low. For us, Burdeos and Rome were the worst, along with Venice whose bathroom door didn't get to the floor so you had no privacy. If you get The Caesar in Rome, be careful, they're known for stealing. So anytime you leave the door for long, you have to lock your suitcases. Once you get the list of hotels review them in Google so you know what to expect but also what you should be careful about. Our Madrid, Paris, and Rome hotels were near Metro/bus stops which allowed us to move freely. However, they were very far away from the city center. If you want to see many cities in 16 days, you are young, don't have any movement or digestive issues (long trips, the bus has no bathroom), or have children, then you can definitely take this. If you're older, have back or digestive issues, little kids, babies, little patience, skip the VPT services. Finally, remember to use CityMapper, Trip Advisor and Google Maps to plan your free days or let along your own Europe tour.Written 6 January 2025
- KDGBeirut0 contributionsDO NOT USE THIS TOUR COMPANYDO NOT USE THIS TOUR COMPANY. I wish I had read the reviews before I signed up. There was no guide on the bus for the 1 hour journey. When we got there, we were told there was no toilet and to buy something to use the facilities - we had 5 minutes. We proceeded to walk the entire city with a guide who made no extra effort at all. Dumped half the group at the castle (they had no idea what was happening) and said we had paid for the cathedral (I had no idea what was happening). Rushed through the cathedral and was told we had 15 minutes to walk back across the city and the bus. I begged to stop at the bathroom and they waited for us. No time for shopping or a bottle of water let alone a cup of coffee. I asked the guide why they were so late and they said it was always like this. Waste of money, had literally 2 hours to walk across the city (left at 3pm for 1.5 hour drive, tour of 2 hrs, 1.5 hour drive back). That's it. If the train station weren't so far from the downtown I would have taken an uber, rented a car, or gone guideless with a tour book.Written 31 December 2024
- 189linf0 contributionsDifficult to see & hear the guideThe bus stop was not clearly marked. It was difficult to follow Louise the tour guide bec he wasn't very tall & didnt have a flag. He was also difficult to hear bec he did not have a loud voice. There appeared to be more spanish explanation than english. The return bus was late & there was no guide to take care of customers till after the bus arrived. Poor service. I would not recommend this tour.Written 24 November 2024
- jielynanneb0 contributionsSuch a terrible experienceOur experience with this tour was extremely disappointing. From the start, the guide failed to address our needs. Worse, he displayed clear discriminatory behavior, which made us feel disrespected and unwelcome. He acted as though we didn’t know what we were saying or advocating for, especially when we raised concerns about the inclusion we expected in our tour. His dismissive attitude was frustrating and unacceptable. Overall, it was a terrible experience. To make matters worse, he didn’t even apologize for his actions or behavior NOT until we pointed it out. We strongly advise others to reconside as well. We usually take travel tours for a more fun and comprehensive experience but what happened today was NOT GIVING.Written 23 November 2024
- Susan S0 contributionsNo more than a bus rideOur guide had zero personality and literally just walked us up the main street, then left us at the Cathedral. Gave little to no Interesting history or anecdotes . The majority of comments went something like this: “ On your left is a very important building in Segovia. It was built in blah blah .” No fun stories. Just facts and dates. Did not stop like I saw other guides at various landmarks. We did stop at 1 overlook (an outdoor restaurant’s terrace) for a photo op of the city. Again, no interesting info given. The guide did not wear anything distinctive nor hold up a flag as other guides were doing, so if you did stop to look in a window or take a photo, you could easily fall behind and not know where your group was because of the crowds. He did not offer any suggestions for restaurants or “ don’t miss “ sights. He left us by giving out maps. This was a bilingual tour (English and Spanish) and that made it confusing to know when he was moving to the next “ point of interest “ if you will, because nearly everything ended with, “ in Segovia “ regardless of the language. Overall, I feel like I spent $80 for a round trip bus ride for two.Written 2 November 2024
- mephisto_20220 contributionsCelia the best guide in ToledoGreat experience! The price is so low but you actually get a lot, first ride with professional driver to Toledo than meet with guide, stop to a panoramic view and a beautiful factory of damasquino (amazing jewlery). Our guide was Celia and she was AMAZING her knowledge is so complete and she gave us all the details about the city, best guide I ever had! 5 stars!!Written 24 October 2024
- Passport198431302400 contributionsBeautiful places, not a great tourThey are both beautiful places to visit unfortunately the tour didn’t allow for much time to explore. Time was wasted in a ‘factory’ tour that was not mentioned before booking, which left only 30mins to explore Avila on free time. Tour guides English was limited and no English at ‘factory’ . Would highly recommend going to Segovia and Avila, but not on this tourWritten 20 October 2024
- DoraScharkov0 contributionsWorst guided tour ever!!!It was very easy to book this excursion online and the check-in process was quick and professional. The bus driver was very experienced driving through very tight spots and making sure we got there and back safely. The disappointing part of this tour was that we were expecting to have a tour guide on the bus. The ride from Madrid to Toledo is an hour long and having a Guide on the bus perhaps explaining or informing us of what to expect or giving us some information about Toledo would’ve been very helpful. Instead, we picked up the guide once we were in Toledo. What’s the Guide got on the bus, we got excited, but it turned out that he was the worst guide we’ve ever had. He didn’t explain anything instead he just pointed things out and gave us their names. (which we could’ve done ourselves by looking at a map.) he just kept asking us to follow him and then he would stop give us a name of a church and then he would continue. It got to the point where it was so bad that we decided just to go out on our own and explore. It’s a good thing we had read up about Toledo the night before so we knew a little bit about its history because we did not learn a thing from this tour.Written 18 October 2024
- D2889GFangelr0 contributionsA very unhappy customerThe first thing when we do the reservation they told me to look for a red bus and the bus was no red. We get to Toledo and after the tours was over we take the wrong way back trying to be at the bus 15 minutes before and we get lost . No only they don’t wait for us nobody call or text me to find out if we’re okay. I will never use your company for any tour I think you are very irresponsible.Written 10 October 2024
- Voyage300247721480 contributionsExhausting VacationMy husband and I booked an 18day tour. It covered Spain, Portugal & Morocco. The tour description is a bit deceiving. Giving the impression that there would be ample time to enjoy the sights. That wasn’t the case. We made bathroom stops & stops to take quick pictures. Bus rides were long and uncomfortable. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Costa del Sol. But it was a late evening arrival. A spot to sleep and not an opportunity to enjoy the beach. The meals that were included in the package were below average. Chicken was served most of the time and We had to pay extra for water. The 4 star hotels that are promised, are not maintained. No irons, sometimes AC &/or fridge didn’t work. On one occasion my husband’s bed collapsed and he fell on the floor. We were also placed far from the city on several occasions. Collaborations also fell short. When we booked our trip, we paid extra to get a tour of Gilbraltar which didn’t happen. Apparently it’s an all day excursion that wasn’t planned for in the 18 day excursion. That important detail wasn’t mentioned during the booking confirmation. So we will be asking for a refund. The tour guides & bus drivers were knowledgeable & friendly.Written 6 October 2024
- Venture269777046100 contributionsWorst vacation everWe booked an 18 days trip to Portugal, Spain and Morocco with Pepe travel which seems to be selling VPT trips. It was a last minute booking and didn’t have time to do my homework and research. We switched between multiple busses and tour guides about 4 times. Some of the tour guides were really good and enjoyed time with them. But here is my feedback and why I give them terrible rating: - they use the most uncomfortable busses. The seat belt buckle is stabbing you all the time and I had to put a jacket under me to reduce the pain. We have been on the bus for 5 hours most of the days. - we spent more times on the buses and by the time we get to the hotel we are too exhausted to enjoy the city especially that the hotels they put us in Were far from the city. - hotels are supposed to be 4 stars. I call them has-been 4 stars. They are run down, many times we had rooms with no AC, no working fridge and the food most of the time was terrible. Then you are too far from the city to have a decent meal. The hotels were always 30min by taxi from the touristic area. - we were supposed to have 2 nights in costa del sol to enjoy it. One on the way to Morocco and the other on the way back. We saw nothing of costa del sol. The first night they put us in hotel that was far from Marbella. It cost us 25 euro each way to make it to the city. Also we arrived to the hotel at 6pm so we didn’t have much time to enjoy it. On the way back we arrived after 730pm - we paid extra to have a Gibraltar excursion. 90 euro each. It didn’t happen. - schedule is obscure, each hotel is a surprise, meals are the cheapest option possible. In Morocco we were fed chicken most of the time and water not included. - there is so much distance between the destinations that you spent most of the time on the bus and when we stop for a visit we are rushed.Written 5 October 2024
- tybenito0 contributionsToledo is a must see tour if you are in MadridThe tour was OK, but it is annoying the waste of time of almost one hour when tey take you to a store to buy local items even before getting to Toledo. the visit to the Cathedral is a no miss!!! but the Synagogue is a waste of time and moneyWritten 25 September 2024
- E568BMraula0 contributionsHalf day tripThe tour was conducted excellently. Enjoyed the sights and ambience of the spot. The aqueduct is a marvel to behold for those that are drawn to ancient antiquties.Written 12 September 2024
- ChrisandGlenn0 contributionsSegovia & Avila day tourMichelle, the guide imparted alot of information in clear, faultless English. An amazing trip with much to see in Segovia..The wall in Avila was one of a kind. Most impressive. Very hot weather this time of year.Written 1 August 2024
- juanhB2168FF0 contributionsSecond report.I wrote a scathing review about this tour taken on June 30, 2024. It was published for a short period of time but has since disappeared. It was a very bad tour to two most beautiful places. The guide lady was awful. Stay away from this experience please unless you want to waste your time and money.Written 24 July 2024
