Learning is fun!

Can’t say enough great things about the Martin Luther King Jr. historic park tour. Our guide Joy was fun, personable and extremely informative about King and the broader history of Atlanta. We did this as a team building learning event and came away changes and inspired. I recommend to everyone!

5/5 stars for the MLK Jr/ historic Old Fourth Ward walking tour- a MUST while in Atlanta
The MLK walking tour was AMAZING and I have to give all the credit to Joy, our guide. The tour itself was a few hours of non strenuous walking through the historic Old Fourth Ward neighborhood- it allowed me to experience the history in a better way than riding a bus or in a car would be. You make stops along the walk to discuss different people in history that made Atlanta, and the world, a better place. Joy brings along a flip book of the people she’s discussing. So, it’s not just a stop, “look at this building” and walk away to the next kind of thing. It’s a stop, “look at this historic building and let me show you the face of the person I’m telling you about” kind of thing. It was integrated to give it more of a personal feel. She also has an iPad she brings out at different points to play historic clips or speeches, which gave me chills, and made me really feel in the moment. It was just “different” in a GOOD way, than other tours I’ve been on. I can’t recommend this walking tour enough!

Great tour
Joy was a terrific guide. We learned the history of the civil rights movement in Atlanta as well as the current conditions in the MLK neighborhood. Unfortunately we could not go into many of the sites because of Covid but Joy showed pictures and we could see others on our phones. Highly recommend.

Emily did a great job bringing MLK to life
Emily led us in an involving and lively manner. She told us about Martin Luther King‘s background, family and other acquaintances and movement members. She made connections between different characters in the civil rights movement. She related to the guests and got us Involved in the discussion. I would highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Tour Guide
Oct 2021 • Couples
We had a great experience on this tour. Our guide Emily was dynamic and knowledge and relayed stories about MLK and other residents of the area with passion and empathy. I would definitely use this company again as booking was easy and communications about timing and meeting points done clearly and consistently.

Worth your time!
Joy was an amazing tour guide. She not only shared details of black history in Atlanta, but how it connected to American history and human rights. I would highly recommend this tour. I walked away learning a lot!

AMAZING- learned so much!
Aug 2021 • Friends
My mom and I absolutely LOVED this tour! Our trip to Atlanta was a surprise, and our travel agents booked us this tour in advance. Our guide Emily was so engaging with the best stories and facts- you'll learn some surprising things! It's a bummer that covid has closed off some buildings, but we had such a lucky oppportunity to visit the historic Madame CJ Walker Salon, which is preserved now as a little museum to music and artists! We learned so much about not just MLK, but the neighborhood and other civil rights leaders and Atlanta. You will love this tour, and you'll love Emily if she's your guide!

A MUST tour for everyone!
Jul 2021
Emily, our tour guide was a great storyteller. She didn't just give a very detailed account about the life of MLK and the civil rights movement but also an entertaining and immersive story like how he first encountered racism at 6 years old when he could no longer play with his white childhood friends, how a highway was intentionally built in the middle of Auburn street ( once the richest black owned street in the world) to disenfranchise black people, how he never lost a game of monopoly by cheating, how coretta wasn't at first attracted to him because of his height . I learnt so much in 2 hours than i learnt in school. HIghly recommend his tour.!!!
