I reached out before the tour to inform them that I was vegetarian and severely allergic to cinnamon. They reached out to the vendor not only about weather the dishes we would receive would have cinnamon but if there was a risk of cross contamination (which is something I have never had asked on a food tour before). Our guide, Joy, was amazing! She was engaging and friendly! The bakery did, in fact, have a risk of cross contamination, so she went and bought me a separate dessert from a different place. The history was amazing, and overall, we had an amazing time!

I had an amazing time on the food tour with Unexpected Atlanta! All of the food tastings were delicious, and I loved learning about the rich history behind the market and the dishes we tried. The tour was well-organized and informative, and I appreciated how they highlighted and supported small business owners along the way. It’s a fantastic way to experience local flavors while learning more about the community. Highly recommend!

Great way to beat the heat in August in Atlanta while getting to learn about one of Atlanta’s oldest markets. Arielle balanced telling us about the food, history, and running us through the biscuit making well and it was great to learn about a market in Atlanta that people I know who live here don’t even know about. They were able to accommodate me even though I don’t eat dairy. Highly recommend

The biscuit making was the best part and learning about the history of food. It was also nice to walk around and see what food stands had fresh food and meats. Our tour guide Javier was the best!

We went on this very informative tour and the guide, Joy, did a remarkable job. She was friendly, knowledgeable and the food was great. And, we didn't have to walk too far since the 3 restaurants were all in a small area. The cemetery was extremely interesting and Joy did a good job of speaking about the various areas or the cemetery and the folks buried there. Thanks Joy for a great tour.

One of the highlights of our Atlanta visit! It was a perfect combination of listening and learning, tasting delicious food, meeting hee people, and an activity of making the biscuits! Fun, hands-on way to learn about the history of Atlanta through food. Kristin and Nic were knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. The biscuits were suprisingly easy to make and I took the rest of my batch home to enjoy the next morning.

It was my Mom’s birthday and I thought it would be fun to do something we’ve never done - a tour in a city we’ve been a part of for over several decades. We had a BLAST! Arielle and Kristin were so personable and attentive, they really brought the history of the Municipal Market to life. And my Mom had a new experience on her 83rd birthday! Food was amazing. Paris was awesome. She made sure we were happy, learned about Atlanta, and made sure our tummies were happy.

What a wonderful experience! Kristin made us all feel so welcome and engaged. The different “tastes” of the market were fantastic, and workshop really buttered our biscuits.

For birthday fun, I took my wife on the Historic Market Tour + Biscuit Class, and we had a blast. Joy was an amazing guide, and she made the experience incredible. Even though we are "locals" in the ATL Metro, it was incredible to get to know a part of the city that we had not experienced. The food we sampled was awesome, and we look forward to going back to try more food. The biscuit class was fun, and my wife loved watching me actually bake something. Cannot recommend enough to locals and visitors to learn history of ATL, baking, and food!!!
