Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An excellent and very pleasant 2.5 hours spent in the company of Peter who proved to be very knowledgable about all things Penarth. On the tour we saw places and views that we would have struggled to find on our own and learned much about the key movers and shakers who have shaped Penarth over the last 200 years. Best value for money you could possibly find as he does this for the love of it and accepts no payment. Highly recommended.

I spent a fun filled and interesting morning with Peter full of local knowledge never boring. Despite living not that far away we visited some beautiful view points I wasn't aware of.
It really is free!!!!!!
Peter is very approachable if you have mobility limitations and can adapt the tour to suit your needs.
I am experienced of walking tours and highly recommend this one.

Peter’s knowledge of Penarth is very extensive and his tour of just over two hours covered a variety of areas of the town, enabling him to relate information about their history and the events and people responsible for shaping their development.
Peter’s relaxed and friendly presence made the whole experience very interesting and we saw many buildings and views which we would never have found on our own.
Highly recommended.

Recently our family from New York came to visit Penarth and needless to say we made the best decision when it came to touring the town with Peter. As locals who have been living here for about ten years, we were so amazed by the rich history that Peter was able to share with us about our town. Our children who ranged from 18 years to 3 years old also greatly enjoyed the walk, had all their questions answered, and never got tired. We greatly recommend this walk!!

We try to do a walking tour if possible every time we go to somewhere unfamiliar, and this one did not disappoint. As the info says, the tour really is FREE!
Peter met us at the Penarth side of the barrage and, luckily for us, we were the only people booked for that day. He spent the next 2 and a half hours imparting his excellent knowledge of the area and answering any questions we had. The time flew! The weather could have been better, but this didn’t ‘dampen’ our enjoyment of the tour.
Top tip: Make sure you are wearing shoes that are suitable for walking up (and down) fairly steep inclines, although the walk is on pavements and tarmac paths. Peter walks at a pace to suit you though, so no need to worry about ‘keeping up’.
The effort is worth it, as the views from the highest point are spectacular! (We verified this when we made our own way back in sunshine the following day.)
After the climb, Peter led us back down the other side of the hill onto Penarth prom, with its quaint Art Deco pavilion where we stopped for a cuppa and ‘comfort break’. We also had an opportunity to view his collection of photos on an iPad, showing how the area used to look.
We returned, taking a different route, via the town to our starting point. All the time, hearing interesting facts and anecdotes about the places we were passing through.
Peter quite obviously loves being able to show others the place he now calls home - a very enjoyable experience too good to miss!

Peter manages to explain the history of Penarth, whilst taking you on a delightful tour of historic docks, buildings, gardens, church and pier of Penarth.
A wonderful way to get a feel for this area of Cardiff.

Thanks very much Peter.

This walking tour was really nice. Peter was full of joy and was super engaging. We learned so much about Penarth and it’s history as we walked from The Old Custom House, around the bay, up through the neighborhoods, through parks and promenades and after a wonderful two hours we were pointed to the pubs to catch the Rugby game. We chose The Bear Head. Made for a lovely afternoon and would highly recommend this tour.
