Overview
Go white water rafting on the Rio Grande River in New Mexico on this half-day tour from Taos. Your guide provides all necessary gear and paddle instruction for your 5-mile trip, which can be scheduled for the morning or afternoon. Zip through class 3 rapids that provide a fun ride for all levels of experience, with light refreshments provided when you get off the river.
What to Expect
Our normal meeting schedule meet at 8:15 a.m. or 12:15 p.m. each day at the Pilar Yacht Club and Cafe, at the junction of State Highways 68 and 570, 16 miles south of the Taos Plaza, mile marker 28.5 (feel free to view our map). You may meet us at the Pilar Yatch Club, and after which park at the Rio Grande Gorge Visitors Center across the highway.

Please lock all up all valuables in your car. At the river, a Personal Floatation Device (lifejacket) will be fitted to you. Instruction in river rafting safety and paddling techniques will be given and then you’re on the river where we’ll navigate Class I to Class III rapids (easy to moderately challenging) with names like: Big Rock, the Narrows, and Souse Hole. We’ll serve refreshments adn snacks at the end of the trip and then return you to your vehicle and dry cloths!

great place for white water rafting

a nice course for half day white water rafting. When rafting there, I did not realize that the river cut through the land so deep that we actually under the ground. The scenery is amazing

Amazing Experience From Top To Bottom

The guides could not have been more friendly, and the Racecourse was extremely fun, even in less than optimal circumstances (when the water is higher, apparently the trip is a bit easier, and faster). These guys impressed all the way around. I expect to go...More

Run the rapids on the Rio Grand!

We got to pick our own guide and we hit the jackpot with Christine. She is an experienced guide who has trained the younger guides and taught us all a thing or two. The meeting place was easy to find. We had good safety instructions...More

Our time was limited...this trip was perfect. Great guides...amazing views...fun people. Even got to get out of the raft & swim in the Rio Grande!

It was really fun! The water level Wasn’t super high but the exposed rocks made it challenging and fun!
