you won’t be disappointed! Was more than expected
Jun 2021
My favourite part was Doug’s (our guide) explanation of Geologic, social, economic history and how it works into world and US history. I loved the entire group’s appreciation for the Creation that we were in. Also Dougs adherence to the schedule he quoted and the flexibility and resourcefulness Doug showed to adjust to conditions and the things that he thought (and he was right!) that we would be interested in and like to see.

Amazing Wildland Trekking!
Dec 2020
Wildland Trekking is Awesome!,
We did the Best of the Grand Canyon Tour, they made everything effortless, from preparation for the trip and what we might expect (what was needed for the hike, any special dietary needs, etc) then they give you all the necessary tools too (Spikes for your boots/ Trekking Poles, Backpacks, our guide Isaac Avenia-Tapper seriously made the whole trip that much better, not only is he a fantastic guide, super knowledgeable and funny, but he is great with different types of people, adjusting to their hiking abilities and a great trail cook too. I will be back in the near future for another adventure with Wildland Trekking for sure.
100% Top notch Company. 5 Stars!!!!

Perfect Canyon. Perfect Guide.
Dec 2020
We did the three day, two night, Grand Canyon Discovery Tour. Note that our trip was in December of 2020 - so during COVID. The trip may be our favorite vacation ever and we travel extensively in and out of the United States. Our guide - Michael Wichman - made the trip for us! We had a hefty amount of respect/fear for the Canyon and I'm certain we would not have embarked upon a trip as rigorous as this was without a guide. He was knowledgeable without being arrogant, accommodating, interesting, and fun. The accommodations and restaurant choices were good - given COVID restrictions. I was impressed that he whipped up a hot lunch twice on the trail - it was frigid and hot food and drinks were amazing! We have hiked with other organized groups and would definitely hike with Wildland Trekking again.

Grand Canyon Winter Rim to Rim to Rim - So Awesome
Nov 2020 • Friends
I joined Wildland Trekking for the Grand Canyon Winter Rim to Rim to Rim hike in November 2020 (5 days / 4 nights). The scenery was a amazing and spreading the hike over 5 days enabled us to maximize the experience. Our guide Dakota was phenomenal- he was super knowledgeable about the history of the canyon, geological formations, plants and animals. He was also full of great stories - and a great cook. Wildland provided all the gear and most importantly backcountry permits. This was a “trip of a lifetime” - or rather the first or many “trips of a lifetime” to come with Wildland Trekking.

Epic experience!
Nov 2020
We walked down Bright Angel trail on Saturday morning. We arrived at the Colorado river had lunch we even dipped our feet in the water, incredible! On to Phantom ranch and Bright Angel campground to set up our campsite. What a beautiful setting, so quiet and peaceful. It was an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Sunday we hiked the north Kaibab trail to Phantom Rock, about 6 miles. That afternoon we spent some time on the beach at the Colorado river. Monday morning we broke camp at 5am, had breakfast and started our trek up the south Kaibab trail to the top. What a challenge for body and mind. We made it in record time to the top, we even beat the mules up. Our guide Elaine is the best. She kept us motivated even when things got tough. Oh by the way, I was celebrating my 65th Birthday. The whole trip was an incredible experience. Much thanks to Elaine, for keeping us warm and well fed. Her knowledge of the canyon was second to none.

Best trip of my 60 year!
Sep 2020
As a 60 year old 1st time backpacker doing the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim had me a little apprehensive. Our guide, Jillian, provided advice on training and packing.and then set a comfortable pace for me on the trail. Along the way she shared her knowledge of the geology and history of the canyon and lead us on side adventures. On top of that the food was amazing and meals were often served in the most beautiful locations. This was by far the best trip of my 60 years.

Grand Canyon Rim to Rim Lifetime Dream Hike
Sep 2020
Grand Canyon Rim to Rim 3 night 4 day Backpacking Trip

I chose Wildland Trekking to lead my long time dream of hiking the Grand Canyon from rim to rim. My 4 day trip was September 17-20th, 2020. I did not have backpacking experience but I love hiking and viewing beautiful scenic destinations. Wildland Trekking took over the technical details. They have a specific list of what to bring, how to prepare physically for this hike, a day to day itinerary, suggested reading and they provided all of the gear and a terrific guide!
Our guide Michael W. was experienced and lead us with a calm steady hand. He prepared all of our delicious meals, gave us clear hiking, camping and safety instructions, encouraged us to regularly eat our provided snacks to keep up our energy and to drink plenty of water as we went. He gave us details about the geology, flora and fauna, and history of the indigenous people and pioneers who came before us in the canyon. He shared with us his close personal relationship with the canyon and made us comfortable and confident in the task we chose to accomplish. We came out with many beautiful memories, new friendships and a sense of great achievement. Nearing the South rim of the canyon, a day hiker asked me where I had hiked from and I answered, "From the North rim to the South rim". To my surprise this brought tears to my eyes! What a great trip and great experience!rise stating this fact produced tears in my eyes! Great feeling and a great trip!

Jul 2020 • Couples
Overall experience with Wildwood Trekking was awesome; from choosing our preferred 4 day, 3 night hike. Booking our trip was seamless, throw in a pandemic and Wildwood Trekking kept us informed leading up to our travel dates as there was a potential of it not happening. They postpone any payment other than our deposit until the permit was issued, which was close to our travel date due to the pandemic. The information they provided us including suggested reference books proved invaluable and allow us to be prepared for the experience as well suggested training program. Our Guide Dakota was a seasoned Grand Canyon veteran, who shared his wealth of knowledge and experiences of the Grand Canyon as a hiker and rafter. Our meals were excellent and we greatly appreciated the preparation that Dakota dedicated prior to our arrival. It is important to note the Wildland Trekking can provide all of the equipment need for their adventures. We utilized just their tent and sleeping pads both were in very good shape. In closing, we will be booking our next adventure with Wildwood Trekking.

Dean, our guide was great. Very knowledgeable of the Grand Canyon. Their equipment I used was top notch. Between Dean our guide and his backwoods cooking, my Grand Canyon backpacking trip is something I’ll always remember. Thanks again!!
