About
The Old Goa Heritage Walk revisits some of the most fascinating facts during Portuguese rule. When Old Goa was Goa’s former capital city, it was a thriving city even during prior to Portuguese times. It was the capital of the Bahmani Sultan Adil Shah empire. The Portuguese arrived here in 1510 under their commander Afonso de Albuquerque, and captured the city from Adil Shah, the ruler of the Bijapur Kingdom. They came to the East in search of trade and to eventually spread Christianity. In our Old Goa Heritage Walk, explore the some of the most historically significant buildings. Old Goa is a World Heritage site housing some of most grandest and oldest churches in the region. Among these are the Basilica of Bom Jesus which houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier. The imposing Sé Cathedral, the Church of St Francis of Assisi, the Chapel of St Catherine and the domed church of St. Cajetan.

Old worldly charm
Dec 2021 • Solo
I was at this walk on a very busy day before the feast of St.Francis Xavier. Old Goa was colourful with patrons attending the mass. Raysancia was wonderful. She took her time explaining the prominence of each church. The colourful chapel of the architect who constructed the church was a surprise. The old Goa after a night of rains, the greenery and the coconut plantations all around and the Mandovi river, was a beautiful sight.

Interactive and Fun
Dec 2021 • Couples
Venita (our story teller) was very knowledgeable, well informed and very patient with our questions and interests. The way she entwined and told the tales one after the other was very nice. It was a very interactive and fun tour.

Understanding the heritage of Old Goa through the eyes of a passionate storyteller
Nov 2021 • Solo
I am fond of heritage and history and this tour served me right. Amreen is an amazing and passionate story teller. I literally got goosebumps everytime she would talk about the history of the arches, monuments, rivers, bridges and churches. I highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants to connect with the journey that Goa has gone through over the years.

If you're in Goa, just try this too

Venita was the storyteller for this one, and she did a brilliant job. We roamed around and inside different points in old goa. As she explained details about Portuguese culture and history, we asked many questions. She took time and patiently explained everything.

Quite honestly, as capable as she is as a storyteller, we felt we were with a friend who knows a lot about local culture and history.

Thanks for the fantastic experience.

Breathtaking Historical Snapshot!
Absolutely unmissable walk through the streets and churches of Old Goa, steeped in history and mystery, a great way to get an idea of the beginnings of the Portuguese conquest and the advance of Christianity. Amreen, our story teller is a local and has a deep knowledge of Goan history, she keeps everyone engaged and entertained. Top Marks all around.

We had a fantastic experience with Make It Happen in our visit to Old Goa. When the Portuguese left Old Goa, they set it up for posterity - like an open museum for all of us to visit. We had the stories behind so many structures in Old Goa including chapels and churches. Strongly recommended
