- sasavladm0 contributionsPoison food on Similian Island by SeaStar AndamanThey gaved us poison food and ruined our vaccation, better avoid or take some sandwiches at you but its a daytrip so it’s going to be hard to have food at you.Written 27 November 2024
- ilkemy20160 contributionsGreat experienceWe signed for Phang Nga Bay National Park + 007 Island + Phang Nga Bay Kayaking one-day tour with Starfish lazy man. Tour was very well organized from start till the end. Staff were great, cheerful and fun. Islands were so picturesque, wonderful. We really had perfect time, we definitely recommend itWritten 26 November 2024
- MDBurrell0 contributionsPhi Phi Islands and Bamboo Island Day TripWe had a super experience with Seastar and would definitely recommend them! We opted for a tour with an earlier start, but it didn’t mean there were any less people! When you arrive at the pier, it does feel like there are lots of people, but the level of organisation is fantastic and it’s a maximum of 35 people to a speedboat, so the crowds soon disperse. (We enquired about similar trips with other providers, and some catamarans took up to 70 people, so the speedboat was the best option for us in terms of a smaller group.) What made the day for us was the staff, and in particular, I must mention ‘darling Cher,’ Mr Man and Ta-Ta. They were just fantastic!! So friendly, funny, always offering to take photos and giving top tips for the best spots to visit. Just super lovely people who worked hard to ensure everyone had a good day. It was a full on day and whilst we would’ve loved to have spent longer in some places, we also loved the fact that we got the opportunity to visit so many different spots. We got really lucky too, in that we saw monkeys and baby sharks (thanks to Cher telling us where to swim!) Great trip, great people, all really well organised!Written 25 November 2024

- 400valk0 contributionsPhi phi islands on a rough dayA very disappointing tour ! Picked up from hotel at 9am with catamaran trip scheduled to leave at 10.30am . Arrived at pier at 10am then the chaos began . Crowded meeting area with complementary snacks and drinks with very few areas to sit . Toilets were disgusting and filthy and no attempt by staff to clean them . Eventually left at 11.30am after a short talk re boat and conditions . No safety talk even though it was rough that day . Weather deteriorated and first stop was crowded , dirty and with thunder , lightening and heavy rain no water sports were possible . Getting back on the catamaran was a nightmare as the boat pitched in the waves but the crew did help haul us all back on board . No stop at monkey beach or caves due to sea conditions . Stop at island for lunch was better with a very nice buffet lunch provided .Lagoon stop for swimming proved popular and the next for snorkelling was disappointing due to the poor sea conditions . Trip back was less stressful or bumpy but on arrival back at the pier ( another 1 hr ) chaos again ! Mini van drivers had number cards but were outside the building and in no particular place , chatting , smoking and some not even displaying their number ! Nobody knew where their van was and time wasted trying to find the correct vehicle . With hundreds of travellers the drivers needed to be in one area with their numbers clearly visible ! We eventually got back to our hotel at 7pm ( 10 hrs away that I would not like to repeat) I would not recommend this company till they address their organisation pre, on board and after tour. On a fine day I’m sure the views are beautiful but on this particular day it was the most disappointing trip I have ever had ! 😪Written 8 August 2024
- BalyReviews0 contributionsMemorable Catamaran Tour with Sea Star Phi Phi IslandsWe had a fantastic tour with Sea Star Phi Phi Islands on their catamaran. The trip was well-staffed, well-managed, and the crew was exceptional. Visiting on May 26th, we were lucky to find the islands not overcrowded. Special thanks to the crew for helping my partner, who can't swim, get into the water and feel comfortable—this made the experience unforgettable. The plentiful soft drinks and smoother ride compared to a speedboat were great bonuses. Thank you for keeping us safe and making our trip amazing!Written 1 June 2024
- 76Eve0 contributionsDon‘t do it! Mass tourism event! We did the Surin Tour from Khao Lak yesterday. Believe all the 1-⭐️ reviews. They are all true!!! If you like a overpriced mass tourism event and to feel trapped in a wired uncomfortable situation from 7am to 6pm then go with them… We deeply regret it because we feel that we lost a day from our vacation. You won‘t see nice corals … you have to snorkel with 200/300 other people around you. Some ignorant %#*# -tourists who still try to catch/touch a clown fish. 🤦🏼♀️ Crew was okay. Food not really … Just no!!!Written 27 April 2024
- Eggplanty0 contributionsFantastic tour that is better than MauiThe tour was fantastic in all aspects. They have prescription goggles available. The snorkeling was better than anything we've seen in Hawaii, California, or Cancun. The coral is in good condition and we didn't feel overcrowded. Huge variety of fish. Our driver showed up on time, food was better than expected, high quality snorkeling equipment, and awesome guides. The tour included breakfast, lunch, and a quick dinner along with cookies and fresh fruit between snorkeling spots.Written 26 April 2024
- Angiec88880 contributionsOur trip to Surin IskandsFormat has not changed in the last 7 years. Unfortunately I pulled a muscle in my neck so could not do all scubas but my family had fun. Very disapointed that we cld not sit at the front of the boat on the trip over and back as for me that is 80 per cent of the fun. Try and go on boat 5 not 1 or 9. However Emily, King, Fern the captain and his crew did a great job looking after us. angeka and faimlyWritten 18 April 2024
- Giles B0 contributionsGreat Surin islands snorkeling tripGreat trip to Surins. Would highly recommend. Only let down by lack of recycling of drink bottles - just chucked in the general trash. On a recent drive trip we were given a reusable cup to use for the trip, which worked very well.Written 10 April 2024
- Bonus_n_Howel0 contributionsSnorkeling trip to Similan islands- Pick-up: somewhat early but on time, careful driving and clean vehicle, no flexibility on preferred departure and return time as group dependent - At the pier: well organized industry for processing vast number of tourists, longish waiting times, clean amenities, fair food - Boat trip: fast, modern and well crewed, treats on board, safe and clean snorkeling gear - Sites: two snorkeling sites and two at the beach stays. Beautiful underwater, overcrowded on the surface (expect at least half a dozen of other boats with each around 30 snorkelers ) - Lunch break: poor to fair, beach overcrowded see above - Staff: professional, caring and nice - Value for money: fair if you don’t mind a crowdWritten 28 March 2024
- Daz2350 contributionsTourism at its worse, I feel ashamed to have been part of itI could simply agree with two other reviews written in the last three months but I'll add my lengthy comments anyhow. Over the years, we have been on many Island boat trips in Thailand, all of which have been excellent until this one. Thirty minutes late being picked up got us off to a bad start however, it was a blessing in disguise as it meant we had to suffer 30 minutes less of the absolute chaos as the Seastar pier meeting area. After being literally herded through a queue to be given our prison number and a pretty wristband, we were then dragged to have our photograph taken "for insurance purposes". No it isn't for insurance purposes. Breakfast consisted of cold pink sausage pieces, small sandwiches with some kind of pink slop on them, noodles, untoasted toast and jam, biscuits, hot (luke warm) drinks and juice. We had a few biscuits and coffee. At 9.40 (we should have left the pier at 9.00) the hundreds of people were screamed at through megaphones in various languages to get into queues dependent on the colour of your wristband. We were then escorted to our catamaran. We were then subjected to more shouting through megaphones in three different languages by three different people to explain the agenda (this happens a lot during the day). This was pointless as it changed three times afterwards. We arrived at the first island and were then told we would snorkel first and then go around the other side for lunch. We got into the water but after 5 minutes my Wife wanted to get back on the catamaran as we had been bumped into and kicked around 4 or 5 times each. It was chaos so we both got out of the water. We then went for lunch at 11.15. It has been described as prison food by one reviewer. I disagree, if British prisons served food as bad as this, there would be riots. The English speaking tour guide from our catamaran walked past us with her food and asked if we were enjoying it. My wife doesn't usually complain but she answered before I had chance to. It was pathetic and mostly inedible (we love Thai food). The guide then explained it wasn't Seastars fault and blamed the National Park. What angered me most was she was holding two plates of delicious looking, hot food which was provided for the guides only. I asked for some of that and she didn't reply. After another chaotic snorkelling stop and island stop we headed back to the pier. Food at the pier was chicken wings, skewers and various types of noodles and papaya salad. By this time we were starving so had a few skewers and pieces of chicken. We were then given our bus number and had to wait around an hour before eventually being released. In hindsight, had we known these beautiful islands were being subjected to such abuse every day, we would not have taken part. We feel guilty for being part of it. There should be limited visitors allowed each day. One last point I'd like to make. On the second snorkelling stop we didn't go into the water. but we did see one of the guides looking expectantly into the water, when she started screaming at everyone and pointing "turtle, turtle, turtle". This of course caused a dangerous commotion in the water as everyone wanted to see the turtle that had "luckily" appeared in front of scores of people. Yes there was turtle, was it there by chance? I think not.Written 17 March 2024
- V6684KXcarlyb0 contributionsVery poor experienceBooked the similan island full day tour and it was very disappointing. Everything but the islands themselves were disappointing. Wasted so much time at the piers in the AM and PM. Overcrowded boats. We speak english and were told they didn’t realize so no one was able to translate which was disappointing to miss all the information and have to figure out what was going on. Lunch was literally prison food. Recommend bringing your own or hot noodles. Beaches were great but overall company and staff were not good at all.Written 13 March 2024
- Y7958YXelenaf0 contributionsBest island but worst travel companyThey ask me 1000 Bhat for the tube of the rented mask (that I could buy a full snorkeling mask) fallen in the deep water and it wasn't even my fault: I just slide in to the sea from the side of the long tail boat end the tube fell off. Obviously it was defective because it was a very short jump (I was sit on the border of the boat), and this situation also ruined my tour trip because isn't easy to snorkle without the snorkel all day long! After an argument they stole me "just" 500 Bhat and my happiness...Written 12 March 2024

Despite bad weather, the tour was started. We were told that the tour could not be run as planned. Blue-eyed, it went on the boat. After only a few minutes it became clear that there were very high waves that made the boat rock violently. After 15 minutes the first... despite repeated requests to turn back and by now tens of vomiting passengers, this wish was not fulfilled... the boat hit the waves violently and as a result the crossing took more than two hours. There were no other stops either, only island number 4. Irresponsible event without regard to participants. Hands off, this is all about the money!

A fabulous day out, speed boat is fast, the snorkelling was great, as was lunch, saw some beautiful fish and coral. Take a sea sickness tablet before you go as a precaution!
