Perfect first glacier experience
Jul 2021 • Family
It was the first time I walked on the glacier, so using all the equipment was already a big deal for me. We were a group of 10 for 1 guide. He was really nice, knowledgeable and very patient with us taking all the photos. Overall, it was a great experience!

Great glacier hike
Jun 2021
This is a long overdue review of our Glacier Hike in Iceland, on June 19, 2021. The hike was organized by Arctic Adventure and our guide was Pawel. We met at Skaftafell Visitor Center to gather our gear and drove from there to the parking area close to the base of the glacier. After we walked a short distance, we were ready to put on our ice spikes, harnesses and helmets and start our hike.
The hike lasted about 2 hours and we saw many gorgeous ice formations, ice caves, melting ice and hard ice, different color of ice from dirty white to many shades of blue. Pawel explained to us how the color of ice represents its age and its compactness. We could really appreciate the changing topography of the glacier, see the innocently looking holes that, in reality, were never-ending abysses. It was exciting and breath-taking.
I wanted to mention that Pawel was a very experienced and careful guide. He explained to us the dangers of the glacier hike and was very clear about the rules that we need to follow. He was pointing to all the interesting features of the terrain, telling us about its formation, history, and seasonal changes. He helped us understand the surroundings and made the hike both interesting and very enjoyable. It was a great experience.

One of my favorite Iceland adventures
Jun 2021
My wife and I were a little skeptical at first, because we had seen this advertised as a "walk". It was not a walk at all, and our adventurous side loved it. We split into two different groups at the beginning, one that was more of a walk, and our group that was faster and climbed more. Our guide, Pawel, was incredible. He was so knowledgable about the glacier, and we never doubted our safety for a moment. Overall, it was an incredible experience and we had so much fun. This was one of our favorite experiences in Iceland and we would highly recommend it.

Great tour with an amazing guide
May 2021
I don’t leave many reviews, but when a guide goes above and beyond to make for an amazing experience, I feel the need to praise the activity and the guide. Mark was passionate about what he does and ensured that we all had a great experience. An hour into the hike he states “I’m fine to stay longer if you want to” to the group. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the glacier, took the time with each of us to get great photos, and was there to make sure we did everything safely. Great tour and an amazing guide!

Great tour and guide
Aug 2019
The experience of walking on the Skaftafell Glacier was fantastic (this wasn't our first glacier experience). Great scenery. Our guide, Biscuit, was informative and exceedingly helpful and kind, expecially to the timid and to one of the members of our group who needed additional help navigating the terrain. What a gentleman!

Highlight of our Iceland trip
Aug 2019 • Family
We thoroughly enjoyed hiking on a glacier with Kish, our guide, who was a geologist and very informative as well as attentive to the safety of everyone in the group. This company was well organized and had excellent and helpful staff members including the check in people and the bus driver. The hike included crampons for our boots and practice moving safely through and across crevasses. The rain let up as we got started and the weather was very cooperative. The initial group of 28 was split in half and the 14 of us with Kish split off from the other half with the other guide. Very worthwhile and the best part of our week in Iceland!

Great tour and tour guide
Fantastic tour with even better guide Adam. Views were breathtaking but depends on weather conditions. Special thanks to bus driver Carol who with her jokes was great insight in local life.

Our guide "Teddi" was great - personable and careful about the needs of the entire group. It was a fascinating experience to walk on the glacier with crampons - unique to us! DO IT!

Excellent experience!
Jun 2019 • Family
There is quite a walk from the parking lot to where you get your crampons to where the glacier starts. Then the hike on the glacier takes some energy, but with the crampons you are not slipping at all. Excellent time up on the glacier. It's really amazing!
