What to expect
Begin your hiking adventure with pickup at your hotel in Nadi and a scenic ride to Lautoka. As you drive, listen to your guides talk about the 'off-the-beaten-path' areas of Fiji, through which you'll begin to understand more about daily life in this island nation. Sights include sugar cane farms, beaches, and the original Fijian settlement of Viseisei. Some exciting off-road driving is in store as well. The drive takes about an hour total, and your guides will stop at a local supermarket in case you want to buy snacks and water.  Hit the trail head and head off through the forest, looking out for plants used in traditional island medicine and other species that are highly poisonous. Your turnaround point is a waterfall, where you're welcome to take a dip and cool off.  Arrive in Abaca village for lunch in the home of a local family. Over traditional Fijian food, learn about their daily life and the challenges they face living so far from community resources like public transportation and grocery stores.  At the conclusion of your activity, you'll be dropped off back at your accommodation in Nadi.  Please note: parts of this hike are strenuous, this activity is suitable for those in decent physical condition.

Fantastic hiking experience
Jan 2020 • Couples
Raymond has fantastic knowledge of all things Fiji. My partner and I had the best time with Raymond, and give it our strongest recommendation to anyone visiting Fiji. Will give you an experience far better than the resorts.

Best Guide, Beautiful Views & Good Hike
Dec 2019 • Family
The hike was worth the breathtaking views that left us speechless!. The hike was suitable for even a moderate to low physicality level which was good for members in our group. Even though there was only three of us the tour continued as usual making it very personal and well timed. On top of such amazing views, our tour guide Raymond was absolutely amazing! He made sure we were comfortable and safe throughout the entire trip and accommodated to us very well. From the drive there and back he informed us on Fiji’s history, local guides and tips. We can not recommend this tour enough as the views will speak for themselves, it is even more worth it when you travel with Ray! Unfortunately we did not get the chance to eat with the local families as they had cultural commitments, but we were still able to enjoy a fulfilling meal at a local restaurant. Thanks Ray for such an amazing adventure on foot!

Solo escape from Fiji resort life
Nov 2019
Fiji is beautiful and although resort life with the extended family has been great I needed 1. to move, 2. to get out of the tourist spots, 3. have some solo time. Ray showed me the best day ever! It was like hanging out with a long lost friend for the day - but one with amazing local knowledge of plant life, local traditions, inside tips on restaurants for the rest of my stay, etc. The hike was challenging enough but not too long and the views were totally worth it.

Fabulous last day in Fiji
Ray was a wonderful guide. Super knowledgeable about the area. We traveled in a comfortable truck from Nadi to a village in the mountains above Lautoka where we started our hike. It was about a 2 hour hike with beautiful vistas and an amazing waterfall. We had the whole trail to ourselves. Ray pointed out interesting plants along the way and took water breaks at the best view points. Lunch with the family was delicious! We had a traditional vegetarian meal (meat is generally only on weekends) and the family could not have been more kind and gracious. We really appreciated the hospitality and would highly recommend this hike + lunch
experience!

Beautiful views, a good work out, and a nice meal
Jul 2019 • Solo
Hotel pick-up and drop-off was nice. We walked around Nausori village, met Peter the chief, who then took us on an exacting but fulfilling hike that provided splendid views. Upon returning to the village, we had a meal in his house, and then were driven home. Eat a good breakfast on the day you do this hike, as it will work you out. Peter and Raymond were great.

Best tour we did in Fiji
Apr 2019 • Friends
We found Ray very friendly, accommodating (with the pace of the trekk) and knowledgeable about his Fijian culture (including about local natural medicines).
We especially loved our swimming stop at the waterfall, and LOVED the traditional lunch in a local home.
The 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed the tour and found the trek challenging but defiantly do-able at our age (late 70's) and DEFINTLY worth it!!
We highly recommend this tour to everybody

Canceled Tour
May 2018
We waited for this tour for over an hour after the expected time. Our tour guide then called us and canceled saying that the only car that they had, broke down. Wasted time and had to pay extra for a different tour. Hard to believe there was only ONE tour guide and ONE car and no one else could take us and we couldn't go. We were very much looking forward to this, were very disappointed.

Great tour!
Had a great day with the guides, John and Ray. I was the only one who had booked that day, but that wasn't a problem at all. Got my own little VIP tour. They answered all my (silly) questions and told me a lot about the place we were going, the nature around us and Fiji in general. The lunch with the local family were a good ending of our hike. I had a good time, with great tour guides!
The hike itself wasn't too demanding, most people can do it. Recommended to everyone who wants to see more of Fiji than just the islands.
Stunning scenery!

Authentic Fiji tour, a memory to cherish forever!
Jan 2018 • Couples
What a fantastic tour! Ray was completely welcoming right from the hotel lobby. Throughout the journey to the village, Ray was able to point out local landmarks. Upon arriving, it was evident the village loved Ray's presence with a warm and happy welcoming. Ray had much knowledge of the local flora and fauna, pointing out specific bird sounds and plants used for medicinal purposes. We were able to see some spectacular sights amongst the hills, just near the sleeping giant. The highlight was being able to spend time talking to Ray about the local Fiji life, culture past and present and much more, whilst admiring an incredible waterfall. Ray has a wealth of knowledge and passion and has done an excellent job in designing this hike specifically for anyone who wishes to see the authentic Fiji! Would highly recommend this tour! Thank you so much Ray, a memory we will cherish forever!!
