- julia t0 contributionsAwesome experienceThis newer experience is a wonderful addition to the Nadi tourism scene. The guide walks you through a recreated village explaining the culture. The fish and chicken is cooked in a traditional earth oven.. fantastic food!! Then the fire dancers delight.. loved it!!Written 31 January 2024
- Dream248161228280 contributionsA total different experience. "Trae Recuerdos"!I was a returnee, I visited the village in 2017 around Christmas..and I took my husband and kids again last December. It was a totally different platform as from 2017. I mean back then the staff were very friendly..the ladies were huge and their singing were fantastic. And how they danced it was beautiful. Even the welcoming was spectacular. Last December as we visited the village..I don't know about the rest of the guests..but for my experience the welcoming songs were horrible and they cannot even say BULA as we arrived. The two young ladies at the counter..I meant one of them (the tall one) she cannot even smile..she is as stubborn as hell. Even when we ordered drinks like at the hotels the bartenders would say bula...thank you..enjoy your drinks. This one, she just gives us the drinks and just stood there like a statue. My God! I mean I cannot believe they've hired someone like that. They need to back to training. There was an old lady and a young one at tge counter before and awwww they were wonderful. I wish those kinds of people to be back at the village and it would be more enjoyable to visit again. In the village, some of the houses are not occupied like before..Even the kitchen, a lady used to cook there..I remembered we tasted smoked breadfruit there. Now it is vacant and it really stinks inside the big house. The souvenirs are not available anymore. I think everything at the village is fake. They are just in it for the money not for the culture. And the dancing, the traditional dances is way boring..I think they bring in new ones but do not have the experience. I can see there are only two boys from back then 2017 still there. Only thing I've enjoyed was the fire dancing and the food..awww it was delicious even the ones cooked underground. MUY MALA EXPERIENCIA!Written 12 January 2024
- 701julenem0 contributionsBeyond our expectationsThis was a great experience! I had set expectations lower with the family for a cultural tour which sometimes while interesting, can be quite dry. This was complete opposite. Really engaging, high energy performances. Typically we’re the family that avoids getting involved at performances, but at this one we went with the vibe and had a great time. Good food, great information and engagement, Fab people. Five stars from us.Written 5 January 2024
- Cruiser647355328330 contributionsFabulous experiencePick up on time, comfortable bus. Went through a Group tour. The Culture village itself was fabulous and excellent as described while booking. Warm and friendly staff, great local & traditional experience, sumptuous food and loved the Kava as well as Fire dance ceremony. Must visit.Written 27 December 2023
- Tourist526747379820 contributionsBad experience! It was not what we expected. I can say the welcoming singing was beautiful and the food was superb..even the fijian dancing and the fire dance was exxellent. The tour leader is a very informative guide but somewhat of a gold digger....he insisted on giving tips secretly. Why? When there's a bowl at the end to offer our appreciation. He said that that the Chinese would take all the tips in the bowl. And how come most of the demonstration houses occupants are his family...daughter, sister, son who supposedly should be schooling and even a grandson. The active demonstration houses I could notice were fire making, pottery and weaving. The rest were just sitting idly. Even the items we can say were bought and to sell. None were handmade. Very hilarious. A good place to visit but regarding tips I'd rather put in the bowl than giving secretly.Written 19 November 2023
- Passport7030440 contributionsAmazing experience! Me and my family loved it :))The performances were amazing!! Would’ve loved to have seen more dancing and maybe a shorter guided tour because there was a wee bit of standing around but still an incredible night. All of the entertainers and people were so lovely and friendly and one of the lads even watched my little boy so I could eat my dinner! Loved it and so did my son, he was dancing with them at the end!Written 7 October 2023

- SueN3490 contributionsA touch of cultureIf you want to learn about a bit of the history of Fiji and how they used to live then is is a good tour. Our guide was very informative on how life was like. The grounds are lovely and calming and the cultural show is interactive and fun. They teach you a Fijian dance for the ladies and a conga line style dance as well. You can choose to take part in the kava ceremony their traditional drink. We have done a cultural tour on previous trips to Fiji I think this one was the best.Written 6 July 2023

Had a bit of a mixed experience. Enjoyed learning about the history and traditional way of life, and really enjoyed the performances. However the guided tour was a bit awkward as it felt as if the guide and the people at each station weren't interested in showing us around. Some of the commentary was a bit sexist, and we definitely heard one of the guides mutter a racist remark which was quite off putting to be honest.
Food was tasty and was interesting to see the lovo process of cooking. There were enough vegetarian options available at dinner.
I will say in the tour's defense that there were only about 10-12 of us in the tour compared to the 30-40 people I've seen in pictures and other reviews (not sure why it was so small, maybe because we went on a Sunday?). Our group was also quite unenthusiastic in interacting with the guides and performers which definitely would have made it harder for the guides to give a good tour.
Overall I would say if you're interested in learning more about the traditional way of life then to visit in the day time. If you're interested in the performances and lovo then this is worth it, I'd just recommend calling and asking which day looks the busiest as I think that will lead to a better experience. And if you're looking for an actual village then give this a miss, as it's not an actual Fijian village but rather a "living museum".
Also quick note that the performance includes audience participation. It's not very complex but if you have social anxiety then definitely give this a skip.

Bula,
Thanks for your comments on feedbacks about visiting the Cultural Village and its Traditional Night Show. Its always our best to entertain guests that visit this Traditional village set up where a life style of Fijians and their forefathers has been demonstrated and preserved.
Surely, everyone has their own feedbacks in regards to our products but it has helped so much in improving and creating more new ideas about our improvements.
The booking are not always as its best it depend on the tourist movement and their schedule of planned holiday in Fiji.
The buffet Lovo dinner is always done to meet all the needs of people and their dietary requirements.
As per your comment that this is not a Fijian village a 'living museum'.
This is a set up of a traditional village in years ago. This is what Fiji was like in those days of cannibalism. We are trying to preserve all this old Fijian cultures which has been washed away by the influence of modern technology and new ideas.
All Fijian village that exists nowadays does not have all this type of culture and arts that old Fijians really have.
The Fijian villages of today has been modernized with modern equipment's of today.
This village setup is where we preserve all traditional old Fijian ways of life and its set up for tourist attraction.
Mainly our goal is to preserve the Traditional Fijian Culture and its value to promote Fiji Tourism as a whole.

This is a MUST DO experience that beautifully showcases the Fijian history and culture. Our guide, Mac was friendly, knowledgeable, and a wonderful storyteller as he guided us through the different parts of the village. A traditional Fijian dinner was served. There was a good variety of food and well prepared. After dinner we were entertained with traditional dances, 2 fire dances, and an audience participation snake dance(No real snakes involved)! We were also able to buy some art/pottery that was made by the artisans we saw demonstrating their traditional crafts.
A definite highlight of our trip!!

This is a very interesting and surprisingly in-depth look at how Fijian society operated before contacts with Europeans. Outwardly it has the usual touristy aspects, such as facsimiles of traditional building and demonstrations of weapons, cooking and handicrafts (e.g., starting a fire with just wood and friction). Upon arrival you relax in a very quiet amphitheater/dining area, then go on the extended guided tour. Following that is a very good dinner, including chicken and fish cooked for hours under coals ("lovo" style). and a fun performance (with audience participation at the end).
A few thoughts as follows about the late afternoon/night tour:
1. Although the price seems a bit expensive, it does include transportation from your hotel and, as you look around on your tour, you realize that you are supporting a lot of people.
2. The setting is very quiet and peaceful and unrushed. The seating area is sheltered by two enormous and very tall patches of bamboo stalks which creak ever so subtly in the gentle breeze, a metaphor itself (bend but do not break) of how Fijian culture had adapted to a modern world and outside forces (which is a major theme of the walking tour).
3. During the tour we visited a traditional "chief’s house" and there was "chief" there for photos after the guide explains the chief's role. That role still exists in modern Fijian society but that person was not a real chief (of course), but he was from a family that does provide the current chief; however, as a younger male he would never be elevated to that position, but is doing his part to preserve the culture.
4. The tour guide was very well-informed about the traditional and modern Fijian culture and very eager to answer any questions, so please take advantage of this opportunity.

Thanks for the opportunity you have made in visiting this set up of a Traditional Cultural Village prior to the European Settlers arriving in Fiji.
This is a demonstration to set up similar arts and ways of living in its traditional stylistic way of Fijian live style.
The seating area which is sheltered by tall stalk of bamboo is just demonstrating the way a Village green in the olden days, where protocol only and advice comes from the chief for the communities to meet .
This is just a show case and we cannot get a real chief to be seating there. Its just a demonstration of what, a real Fijian chiefs really do.
None of those chiefly tradition ways of lives exist nowadays. It has been modernize due to the arrival of Christianity in Fiji.
The tour guides are well trained to meet the needs and type of question they need to answer from the Guest.
Kindly, thanks for your recommendations and updates in regards to your visitation to the Cultural Village.

This was a fantastic tour. The staff were extremely welcoming right from the start singing traditional Fijian songs when we arrived. The tour of the village was excellent and our guide was very entertaining and informative. Seeing the different houses and the different methods used to make pottery, cloth etc. was fascinating. The traditional dinner cooked in the lovu was delicious. The evening ended with Fijian dancing including fire dancing which was awesome! Thank you for a great night out and a wonderful Fijian experience. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning more about Fiji during their stay.

The tour is traditionally show casing the ways of our traditional lives years ago . . it symbolizes different ways in which we create our craft, traditional way of making food baked in earth oven and their ways of clothing themselves during dances and entertainments. Started a bit slow then we realised the humour in our host! Tino, our host was funny and kind and he gave us the tour to remember. He took time to explain the history and things with cultural significance and even made a fire from scratch like in ancient time! He showed us how they cooked in olden time in underground oven followed by the feast and entertainment which lasted the whole night. Even my shy teenager got up and danced voluntarily lol! This was about family fun and great memories to take away with us... thank you Culture Village team, you guys are awesome! Few things to remember! 1. Please freeze some water bottles and take them with you. During the village tour, if your don’t bring a bottle, there is no access to water until the end of the tour.(or make sure you buy some water or drink from the tour shop before walking off) 2. Ladies please cover your thighs and wear at least knee length sarong or pants to show respect to their culture within the village 3. Sunscreen and lots of insect repellent

Please do yourself a favour and add this experience to your itinerary. We wanted to have a cultural experience and to learn about the customs and traditions of the beautiful Fijian people and we got so much more!
The tour of the village was educational and we were honoured by having Max as our tour guide.
We then ate a beautiful traditional Lovo meal and watched an array of performances. The Fijian women sang and danced and the men showed strength and prowess in their performances.
The fire dances were amazing and we also had the pleasure of watching the young ones and next generation perform as well.
The absolute highlight for us was how our Son was received. Johnny has severe Autism and a mental disability and I had him dancing on the side with me. The entertainers saw us and ran over and took Johnny amongst all the dancers and other guests and danced with him and he loved it. We as parents will never forget that kindness that was shown to him or us.
The show was enough but this was a memory that we will cherish for all of our lives..
Thank you Max for your kindness and generosity..We will never forget you.

Our night at the night tour was truly one not to forget. To begin with our guide was excellent and really got into the details of traditional Fijian living. A few of my friends had gone to an actual village and yet they found that they felt out of place and didn't learn much. This cultural experience was the complete opposite. Not to spoil too much of this great evening, you get a tour of a realistic replica village as well as a delicious dinner and an evening performance that is like no other! There is also the opportunity to show off your dancing skills! Interactive, education and overall a lot of fun, I highly recommend this experience for families, couples and people who want to learn more about Fijian culture.

Thanks for the wonderful review. It was highly appreciated.
As we always explain to our guests, this is not an actual village BUT just an exposure of how a Fijian village looks like. This cultural village depicts how different tribes in a village interacts with each other back in the days. We the staff at the center wants our guests to feel the warmth of welcome and be part of our Fijian community.
We are very grateful that you and your friends have enjoyed your short visit at the center.
Have a safe holiday in Fiji.

Wow, wow, wow! This is an absolute must do when visiting Nadi area. We were welcomed with song, taken on a tour to see the traditional way of living, locals sharing how things were done. It is fantastic to see how the ancient Fijians went about their daily lives. Along the way we learned about traditions and stories of life we then saw the lovo, or earth oven, where our dinner was cooked and what a dinner, just incredible food enough for seconds and thirds if you wished. Then a performance from the dancers including a fire dance and finishing with an interactive dance. We were privileged to be selected as chief to receive the welcome kava, just overall a 10/10 experience. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone to enjoy a true taste of Fiji culture, thank you.

a traditional place where you can see Fijian ways of life live and its been demonstrated so every one who visit this village will really identify how the Fijians used to live several years ago. The real Fijians have a stylish way of living that we regards at part of our culture. . . . . we are trying our best to preserve but modern technology has been an influence to our culture and life style . . . .
