- DeepaNLovin0 contributionsDiyaluma FallsDinuka is an awesome guide. He is professional and fun. He has great knowledge about the history and geography of the place, the flora and fauna, ans even the hidden gems of Ella.He knows very well to handle his guests and is one of the best at what he does. This was our first long hike and it wouldn't have been easy without him.Written 9 March 2020
- babaa0 contributionsur way to Ella rock & moretrip: Ella Rock, Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adams Peak I would've never been able (nor want) to try to find my way up to Ella rock and the view points. I travel alone and would require some extensive research before hand to get up without getting lost. Much thanks to my guide Dilan who showed the way & kept me entertained all day. He is a dedicated guy full of passion & very accommodating. HIGHLY recommended for those who would like to see Ella. Save urself the hassle of digging up info & navigating through bushes after long train rides & restless travels throughout the country.Written 26 March 2019
- lisag260510 contributionsAmazing tour with DilanGreat full day tour starting at 7:30am, hiking up Ella Rock, then Little Adam's Peak and ending with a visit to the Nine Arch Bridge, stopping for lunch on the way. Very active day which we loved. Dilan was an amazing tour guide, very friendly and informative. We learnt so much about both Ella and Sri Lanka from him. He also took lots of great photos for us! Thank you!Written 10 March 2019
- laurahw5340 contributionsBrilliant tour day with DilanMy husband and I did an Ella tour with Dilan yesterday (Ella Rock, Little Adam’s Peak and 9 Arch Bridge) - we had an absolutely fantastic day and highly recommend Dilan. He was so easy to talk to and very knowledgable about Sri Lanka and the local area. We felt so comfortable and laughed all day. Dilan took us to spots that we had to ourselves and wouldn’t otherwise have found on our own - he’s also a fab photographer meaning we got some amazing pictures together. If you’re in Ella this tour with Dilan is a must do - such amazing places to see and Dilan really made the whole experience for us. Thank you Dilan & Ella Tours for a truly memorable day!Written 18 January 2019
- scpancspan0 contributionsHighly recommended! We had Dilan as our tour guide for 2 days in Ella. He is personable, friendly, and energetic - 3 traits you need when starting a hike at 5AM. He kept my family and I going throughout the 2 days. When my mom fell ill, he rushed to take her back to our hotel. We covered many of the sites in Ella with him along with Lipton's Seat before driving down to Galle. My family and I couldn't have had a better guide. If you're looking for someone to show you around Ella, don't hesitate to reach out for Dilan at Ella Rock Tours.Written 14 January 2019
- Z2138TOannep0 contributionsAmazing tour with Dilan. We only had two days in Ella and thought a tour would be a great way to maximize the experience. We saw all the sites in Ella in a quick and efficient manner. More importantly was the experience we had with our tour guide Dilan. He was a young well spoken professional guide who was very knowledgeable of the area having grown up there. He also took amazing photos of us and ensured we really captured the beautiful moments we had in Ella. The tours was also individual with only us an Dilan and we could customize the tour to our liking. We would highly recommend it and would ask for Dilan.Written 10 January 2019
- TLaurenM0 contributionsJust amazing!!We booked 2 days with Ella Tours and they were fantastic! Anil was great for communication beforehand, and helped us plan out a personal itinerary based on what we wanted to do. It was all done over email within a few hours - so convenient! We were picked up at our hotel on day 1 on the south coast near Weligama, and taken to Undawalawe National Park for a Jeep safari... our guide, Dilan, was absolutely fantastic! He spoke excellent English, and told us so much about the many animals in the park that we saw. Our driver then returned and took us up to Ella to our hotel where we were spending the next 4 nights. So it was a perfect way to get from A to B, with our safari break in the middle on the way! We were a bit tired after all the driving on day 1 to get from the south coast up to Ella, so both Anil and Dilan were super accommodating and re-tailored day 2 for us so it wouldn’t be quite so long. Our second day of touring with Dilan was amazing - he picked us up in a tuk tuk and took us through the hills of Ella stopping at various viewpoints to tell us more about the tea plantations, local Sri Lankan culture, and the surrounding area. We then hiked 2 waterfalls with him that absolutely blew us away! We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere! Stunning. AND - he brought homecooked traditional Sri Lankan lunch with him that his mother had cooked for us to eat as a picnic lunch by the waterfalls. It was SO good! We truly had an amazing few days with Dilan and Ella Tours - could not recommend them more!Written 6 January 2019
- evcava0 contributionsRecommended!Had a great time during our half day tour to the Nine Arches Bridge and little Adam’s peak. Our guide, Dilan, is a kind, soft-spoken and knowledgeable young man who is passionate about sharing insights about the area as well as engaging in conversations about Sri Lankan society and cultural differences. He was also very patient in taking great pictures of each of us and made sure everyone felt at ease during the hike. At the end of the tour he brought us to a great Sri Lankan restaurant we all really liked. It was an informative and enjoyable tour I highly recommend! I’d definitely have booked an additional tour the following day if I had had more time in town.Written 13 December 2018
- PetraRis0 contributionsWhat an amazing day!Communication was excellent with Anil by email. I was able to set out my itinerary, book the trip and pay the cost to the driver, and this was all arranged by email, so easy! The driver arrived early and the whole day was taken care of, collecting us from Ella, driving us, with an impromptu stop at the waterfalls, to Yala National Park (whilst stopping for lunch) and having a pre-arranged safari around the Park for over 3 hours. We were then driven to our accommodation, to the door!, at Mirissa. No complaints, it was a really great day. Thanks again Ella Tours.Written 26 November 2018
- mahjoobs0 contributionsHighly recommendWe contacted Ella tours to take us to little adams peak and the 9 arch bridge. They confirmed our request based on our email. As requested our guide was in our hotel exactly on time. Mr Dinu was very knowledgeable and made our tracking to both places very pleasant. He was very considerate and even without us saying we needed a break, he would just randomly stop to explain or show a plant (based on our breathing)!!! Perfect guide to go along with if you are worried about the hike. Fantastic service!Written 25 October 2018
- keelsjones0 contributionsElla tourAfter a fair amount of relaxation this trip was a great way to stretch the lungs and see the wonderful scenery as we walked to Ella’s peak, the 7 arches bridge and Adams peak. Our guide Dinu was very knowledgeable and obviously loves showing people around his wonderful country. I highly recommend this trip.Written 21 September 2018
- Ambassador6320870 contributionsA big day but not to be missedFrom the moment I contacted Ella Tours I knew we had picked the right company. Communication was prompt and our guide arrived on time. Once we were introduced to Dinu it all went to another level, literally. Dinu was so knowledgeable and passionate about the area. It made for an experience that will not be soon forgotten. Do this tour and insist on having Dinu as your guide.Written 20 September 2018
- Sarah T0 contributionsYou see that single pine tree?‘Uh ha’ we replied. Two and half hours later we stood hot and sweaty way above Dinu’s ambition to get to his solitary pine standing precariously one one of Ella Rock’s seemingly inaccessible ledges. The climb starts on the railway tracks and ends with a short sharp 20 min assent to the top (a longer gentler option is available). I recommend a guide, the route isn’t that obvious and it’s not cool to go barrelling through local farmers tea plantations and vegetable gardens. Our guide Dinu pulled out all the stops, passionate, well informed and professional. More tea vicar? An in joke which you’ll get if you get Dinu. Do it.Written 19 September 2018
- Thomas d0 contributionsEtili village and three icon tourWe booked the tours with Anil from Ella Tours and we always had a quick response and good communication. On the tours we were guided by Dilan. He gave us a very good insight in the life of the sri lankan people. We had a small cooking workshop with vegetables from a local yard and in the afternoon, we taught some basic english to the children of the village. On the second day, we climbed all the way up to Ella rock, we had a wonderful view on little Adam's peak and we saw the train coming by on the nine arch bridge. Thank you Dilan for those amazing two days!Written 4 August 2018
- bas1270 contributionsTip! Dilan is the perfect guide for your tourWe had a tour to the Etili village. Dilan showed us around and could tell is a lot about Sri Lanka and live in the country. It was an easygoing day out with a particular highlight. We prepared lunch together with a very nice local woman. Lovely! Our children of 6 and 10 loved the Sri lankan food. Dinuka and Sanju are absolutely amazing! Sanju was the tuk tuk driver and Dinuka my guide. I went on the Little Adam's Peak, Nine Arches bridge and Haputale tea factor tour. Dinu was highly knowledgeable.
We trek around the Haputale area up to the tea factory. Beautiful scenery. Dinu was knowledgeable and shared how the culture was, the plants and we were lucky to see the eagle, green forest lizard etc. The tea plantation was nice. I got the chance to do tea plucking with a very experienced lady.
Later, we climbed up to Little Adam's peak and marvel at the spectacle of the nine arches bridge.
I learn a lot from Dinuka. Certainly, I would recommend him from Ella Tours.
Thanks for the experience.

Dilan is an honest and kind man, communication with him was also perfect, and I really enjoyed my tour with him for 3 straight days. Having studied in environmental science, Dilan was really good in reading the weathers and could even tell me when he knows the bees are on the move. He was able to comfort my fear of insects and navigate through many places. Anyway, I decided to book Ella tours the night before as i will only have 3 days to explore Ella and I tried the Bambarakanda waterfalls, 3 icons and village tour.
I absolutely loved my village tour and it made me feel super laidback and I loved the food the local villager prepared with me, it was soo delicious. The short tour and boat ride around the lake was beautiful and thank you Dilan for even giving me the chance to drive the tractor! It was fun. We had fun at the oldest tree in the village and took some tarzan liked photos.
The 3 icons tour was also very well planned out, even though it is a little tiring having to hike 3 places in one day. The hike up Ella rock was really tiring but Dilan had always been patient, motivating me along the way and showing me where are the bees nest etc. He is able to bring me to a second lookout point whic was secluded and oh so beautiful. He was patient in photo taking and always aim to do the best he can. I also enjoyed the bridge and the little adam's peak very much. Honestly, I would say this is the best tour (even though allt he blogs would recommend you to walk yourself) to go for if you really want a good experience of the place.
The waterfall tour did not hit my sweet spot as it was too short since we are unable to scale waterfall (Anil please take note of the write up in the website, I dont think they allow people to climb anymore) But I'm grateful that Dilan brought me to another waterfall seeing time is aplenty and purely for my pleasure. It became a waterfall hunting day and that was still fun.
All in all, I would highly recommend having Ellatours to bring you around Ella. Having Dilan would also be important, so do ask for him!

We only had 1 full day in Ella, so the 3 Icons Tour was perfect. Dilan was our guide and he helped us hike up Ella Rock, Little Adams Peak and the famous bridge. He was a great guide and helped us take many cool photos! You will be very tired after this tour but you will see so much!

I did three tours combined in two days with Anil and Amit in and around Ella and had a wonderful time. They were very flexible and accommodating, allowing me to shape the perfect itinerary and make the most of my short stay in Ella. On the first day, I combined a tour to Lipton's Seat, the Dambatenne Tea Factory (largest in Sri Lanka) and a drive through many beautiful foggy tea plantations in Haputale with a short walk to the stunning Bambarakanda Falls. Anil & Amit were very patient and allowed me to stop a million times along the way to take pictures. On the second day, I hiked Ella Rock with Amit in the morning - the last portion of the hike is really steep and somewhat tough but totally worth it, Amit knew several different viewpoints with beautiful views across the valley. In the afternoon on the same day, I went with Anil to the Nine Arches Bridge where he got the best picture of me for the whole trip (sitting on the bridge)! Then we hiked together to Little Adam's Peak which is a really easy breezy walk and you have magnificent views of Ella Rock. We had some food in an unpretentious shack Anil recommended which turned out to have absolutely delicious kottu.
I recommend Ella Tours whether you want to explore the classic icons of Ella or want to do some things off the beaten path around the hill country area in general :)

We were a group of 6 who joined the 3 Icon tour lead by Anil and Amith. The tour started with a walk on the railway tracks before a slow ascent to Ella Rock. We then went to see the Nine Arch Bridge followed by Little Adams Peak after lunch.
The views where breathtaking! Anil and Amith was extremely knowledgable and patient as we took our time during the walk to take pictures at each of the view points. We completely over ran on time but there were no complaints. Lunch was delicious,
some of the best local food we have had during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka.
I would definitely recommend this tour.

We really enjoyed the Ella 3 icon tour which started when we were picked up in a Tuk Tuk by our guides (this was from our hotel just above Ella Town, the pick up was arranged using WhatsApp). We were driven closer to Ella rock which was the first of the "3 icons". Ella rock was the most challenging of the climbs but our guide was very patient and helped where he could. The climb was well worth it as the views were some of the best I have experienced. We then walked back on ourselves to find our Tuk Tuk conveniently parked in Ella town to drive closer to 9 arch bridge (it was at this point we switched guides). After visiting 9 arch bridge (which is worth the visit) we then had another short Tuk Tuk ride to Adam's Breeze restaurant for lunch where I enjoyed a vegetable roti. The restaurant was basic but the food was very tasty and freshly prepared to order. After lunch we climbed Adam's Little Peak which was a gentle 30 minutes hike with great views at the top back over to Ella Rock.
The tour took about 8 hours (including Lunch) and we walked about 12km - Although we saw many locals climbing Ella Rock bare foot, I would recommend a durable pair of trainers. We were fortunate with the weather with intermittent sun (which I understand is good for October) and no rain. Both guides were very friendly and spoke very good English, we had a lot of interesting conversations and learned more about education and the economy of Sri Lanka as well as the local wildlife.

I organised a walking tour with Ella 3 Icons Tour which I would highly recommend, the guide is very knowledgeable about the area, knowing all the best viewpoints, also added in a few personal things into the day, which went further than expectations. It was raining very heavy on the day, but still very enjoyable day and would recommend

We did the three icons tour with Danu and it was fantastic. It was a big day but we took our time and enjoyed Ella rock, nine arch bridge and Adams peak. Along the way we spotted so much wildlife and he knew all the names. He also had great English and great sense of humour.
We were able to talk about local
History and culture. He also introduced us to betel, which was a great experience!
Some fitness is good for all the walking but we didn’t find it too difficult or hot.
We also drank tea from
Coconuts which was fun!
Overall I highly recommend this, especially if you want to relax and see Ella from a locals perspective!

We originally went to book a tour around Ella with Ella Tours but as Anil was so helpful he helped us work out our entire week stay in Sri Lanka and suggested what would work best. It turned out to be a lot cheaper than going with a big tour company and we still saw everything we wanted. We had a driver sorted who got us around Sri Lanka and gave us useful suggestions on where to stop and what to go look at. I would definitely recommend going with Ella Tours not just for your visit to Ella but your whole Sri Lanka trip.
Just note that the 3 Icon tour - you do need to have a good level of fitness!
