    What to Expect
This is a door to door service, collecting directly from your cruise ship and dropping off at over 100 Rome city centre hotels, available on all dates (April to November) when Royal Caribbean, NCL, Oceania, Princess & Celebrity are starting or ending a cruise at Civitavecchia.
Travel in executive vehicle with a maximum of 8 passengers, with a professional English speaking driver, this tour includes skip the line entry and the services of a professional guide for the Colosseum & Roman Forum tour. (There is a maximum of 24 people per guide on this part of the tour)
After departing Civitavecchia, our tour begins at Oppian Hill, one of the famous seven hills of Rome, and the site of the former palace of Emperor Nero, overlooking the spectacular Colosseum. Here you will meet your guide, and descend to our Skip the Line Special Access entrance to the Colosseum. Once inside, your expert guide will talk you through the bloody past of this amphitheatre with tales of gladiators, mock sea battles and executions. Cast your mind back to a distant past, walk around the galleries and see first-hand how it resembles our modern day sports stadiums.
After a photo stop at the Arch of Constantine, dating back to 312AD, you will be taken to Palatine Hill where the ruins of the Imperial Palace lie elevated above the Colosseum, and enjoy an uninterrupted view over the ancient remains of the city. Look down on the Roman Forum and Nero's Circus Maximus, a chariot racing stadium that could accommodate over 150,000 spectators. The last stop on this tour is a walk along the Via Sacra (Sacred Way), the main artery that linked the Colosseum to Capitoline Hill. Running through the heart of the Roman Forum, the road was used in the days of antiquity for a whole host of festivals and triumphal processions. Here you will find, perhaps most importantly, the site of the tomb of Julius Caesar in the Temple that bears his name, and where even today visitors lay flowers on the dusty stone marking his final resting place.
After an absorbing and eye-opening tour of Ancient Rome your guide will take you back to your luxury minivan, where your driver will be waiting to begin our hotel drop offs.
