  • Bela-Bela has a variety of hotels, guest houses, game lodges and resorts which are located at different parts of the area. Depending on where the guests are transport can be arranged on request or they can meet the guide at the starting point.
  • 1 Molotto St, Bela-Bela, 0480, South Africa Travels will meet the guide at the entrance of the department of home affairs located at Molotto street. Travelers will see the guide wearing black and a touch of green.

    -Visit the government building where the township locals used to gather to watch TV when no one in the whole township owned a TV. -Get to see the paraffin pump that provided the whole township with light and cooking energy when there was no electricity in the area. -Take a taxi ride to hear about South Africa’s political icons who were born in the township and see where they lived. -See the mountain that produced sandstone used to build a portion of the Union Buildings in Pretoria -Hear about Mama Winnie Mandela’s visit to the township in 1986 and see the place she visited. -Hear about the late Minister of Environmental Affairs (Edna Molewa) and see where she lived. -Hear about the Deputy Minister of Communications (Pinky Kekana) and see where she lived. -Visit Mama Setati’s home for some home brewed African pineapple beer. -See the first local shop to be established in township. -See the first creche to be established in the township. -See the first bar to be established in the township. -See President Jacob Zuma’s informal settlement. -Pass through President Nelson Mandela Village -See the first RDP houses to be built after 1994. -Get an opportunity to play indigenous games. -Experience the magic of cultural dancers. -Taste a delicious kasi (locally) cooked meal. -Take a ride on the white-leather seats donkey cart. -Interact with people as they go about their daily lives. -New Developments and many more.

The local people were friendly, they rewarded me with a very big smile. Safety was my initial concern however i found the township to be very safe. I enjoyed myself from the planned activities set out for me. I went home with a whole new feel of what a south African township is.
