About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jn21uk0 contributionsAmazing! The whole experience from beginning to end was amazing. Communication regarding timing and pickup was excellent. The team were extremely knowledgeable and professional and we saw many pilot whales. What a delight! There was plenty of delicious food and drink (thank you for all the Cava!) with a few unexpected little treats at the end. We were then dropped off at our hotel which made the excursion so easy and pleasurable. I would definitely take swimming gear next time (just in case) as the water did look very inviting! Thank you Team Monte Cristo!Written 8 October 2024
- hollymW5038WF0 contributionsAn amazing evening! We had the pleasure of joining the Monte Cristo Catamaran Sunset Trip, and it exceeded all expectations! From start to finish, the experience was incredible. The crew was outstanding—warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about ensuring everyone had an unforgettable time. A special shout out to Laura who was absolutely lovely and shared lots of great information & facts. The boat itself was spacious and comfortable, offering stunning views of the ocean and coastline. One of the absolute highlights was spotting 2 pods of pilot whales & how close we were able to get to them. A surreal experience that left us in awe. We even saw flying fish darting out of the waves. Throughout the trip, we were treated to delicious tapas, beautifully prepared and perfect for snacking as we sipped on endless glasses of cava. The cava flowed freely, adding to the already relaxing atmosphere. We felt truly spoiled by the views and the experience. It’s hard to imagine a better way to spend an evening at sea. If you’re looking for a luxurious, laid-back adventure with great hosts, wildlife, and amazing food and drink, this trip is an absolute must!Written 7 October 2024

- Heather C0 contributionsGreat experience and good funIt was fantastic great crew and food .seen Pilot whales and dolphins along with a mum and baby dolphin . Drinks were flowing as much as you like. Make sure you take swimwear and towel as these are not provided. You will get wet if sat up front but that can be fun . A great experience all round take some cash to tip crew for fantastic job they do xxxWritten 29 September 2024
- T370FMdanb0 contributionsGreat experience on the waterReally good trip. Got to see many Pilot Whales. Food was pretty good, and if something ran out the host got more ready. They did offer to let people swim, and had a box of snorkel equipment if anyone needed it. Nobody swam, but we would have been more tempted if we knew ahead of time it was an option.Written 27 September 2024
- H6840QBmarkv0 contributionsAn amazing, must do 5* experience ,The most amazing experience ever. A lovely evening, helped by flat calm sea. Couldn’t believe how close we got to the whales. A family of pilot whales were basking in the evening sun and a young pilot whale actually swam to the front of the catamaran literally three feet away. The crew were very attentive and there was plenty of food and drink for everyone. Lovely sunset and then a stop off near the shore for a swim. Slow cruise back to harbour with a full moon shining over the island and the bright lights of Las Americas reflecting on the water. You must do this cruise. Big thank you to the crew and minibus drivers. 5*++++Written 18 September 2024
- E2435XNcharlottec0 contributionsLovely tripThis was an absolutely lovely trip! Laura gave us so much information about the pilot whales that we saw and all the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone.Written 28 August 2024

- wongamama0 contributionsMust do while in Tenerife !A great afternoon out! We saw pilot whales both solo and in a pod, the weather was perfect, the crew were all friendly and full of smiles. We learned about pilot whales from one of the crew. And it was a nice plus to have snacks and drinks plus time to swim.Written 7 August 2024
- Cruiser483642903690 contributionsExcellent experience! There are so many boat trips available in Tenerife, it can be tricky to decide. After checking trip advisor, we decided the Monte Cristo catamaran was the best option and we weren’t disappointed. We didn’t want to be on a crowded boat so the fact they limit the numbers was perfect. As a result, the boat is a bit smaller so if it’s remotely rough sea, I would definitely recommend travel sickness tablets! That said, the waves added to the experience. Transfer from the hotel was included in the price and with six of us, this was a bonus. It arrived on time and the driver was excellent helping everyone into the minivan. Also included on the trip was food and drink. All the staff on the boat were friendly and more than happy to help. What made the trip was when we spotted the Pilot whales, around 10 all at once! I would highly recommended this if this is something you are looking at doing. All in all, it was well worth the money and we would definitely do this again.Written 3 August 2024
- louBlou19800 contributionsGreat family trip to see the Pilot Whales!!Great family trip to see the Pilot Whales!! Staff were friendly, informed and caring. Happy and smiley staff, knowledgeable regarding the whales, which was interesting. We even saw a couple of Sea Turtles. Particularly caring towards my son when he was feeling a little sea sick. They took great care and attention to ensure he was OK. Catamaran is clean and spacious. Trip left and came back within the timescales given. Food was ample and fresh. Unlimited drinks, including beer and wine. Again staff were every attentive with drinks for us all. Great little stop off to swim and snorkel. Snorkel gear provided by staff. I would like to say we would book again as a family, but the sea sickness has put a spanner in the works on that! Highly recommended for those with sea legs.Written 2 August 2024
- HildeS3220 contributionsGreat trip, worth the extra euros!Just finished our trip with Monte Cristo, and the reviews were right: fantastic trip, amazing crew (Laura&co), lovely swim in the sea and of course amazing to see the pilot whales up close - and far more of them than we had dared to hope. Windy day and quite a lot of waves, so a few got seasick. I was so happy I had read the reviews and taken a seasickness pill before we left! Practical tips: you'll be asked to take off your shoes (slippery when wet), (small) toilet on board, try to get seats in the middle of the front deck seats if you easily get seasick!Written 31 July 2024
- Foodie29930 contributionsEven better than 5 starsWhat a wonderful experience! The crew were absolutely lovely people that couldn’t do enough for us, the catamaran is a lovely and comfortable vessel and, most importantly of all, the tour has some truly stunning views. At the beginning of the trip we went out to view the whales and turtles at a close distance (but still far enough to prevent disturbing them). The crew then dropped the anchor and there was the opportunity to swim and enjoy a selection of snacks. Free drinks were plentiful throughout the entire trip, too. Lastly, we took in the gorgeous sunset which was truly breathtaking to behold. The Monte Cristo crew deserve a full five stars (and more) as does the experience itself. I highly recommend it!Written 31 July 2024
- amberk17170 contributionsBirthday by sunsetChose this company to celebrate my daughters 14th birthday, we chose the sunset trip and also did some pilot whale spotting, which was absolutely amazing, the crew on and off the boat were absolutely awesome, they went out of their way to help us celebrate my daughters birthday by buying a huge cake and singing happy birthday to her, we were overwhelmed with how amazing everyone was, one of the best boat trips we have done and will definitely be back and recommending to everyone, Thank you very muchWritten 29 July 2024
- 409hayleye0 contributionsWell worth the tripCrew very friendly. Was able to see some pilot whales which was amazing, they got up close but was mindful not to disturb the whales. very knowledgeable and spoke the information in both English and Spanish. Unfortunately my daughter did feel sea sick about half way through and they gave us advice on what could help like eating some bread sticks that they had on board. Drinks available when you wanted. You do need to take your shoes off, So if on the top of the boat ensure you put sun cream on your feet otherwise they will get sun burnt which we learnt the hard way.Written 20 July 2024

After reading reviews beforehand I would have thought this would have been much better. Although we did see the whales briefly there was nothing much else to see and We were given next to nothing from the crew in terms of background information regarding the Whales themselves. More annoying was the fact that we could have paid much less booking with other operators over there rather than booking before our trip through trip advisor. The Lunch we were given was very nice but given that we were on the Lunchtime trip I regarded it as more of a snack and was left wanting more.

The pickup with a minibus was very comfortable. They even called us before and told us where and when we are going to be picked up (right in front of the hotel). The Organisation was good and we even started the tour 20 min. early. We were told that we would see wales and there is a 50/50% chance to also see dolphins. We saw both and even a seaturtle. The young guide spoke englisch really well, was were friendly, courteous and especially competent relating to the boat, the animals, the sea area we were in and all the other questions we had. He is a great guy and a special thanks goes out to him for making this tour so great. The spot were we could snorkle was also very nice and the food was also delicious. The only critic we have, is that the food could have been a little bit more and we would have liked to stay at the snorkeling spot a little bit longer. Overall great experience and we definitely recommended this tour for everyone that is interested in seeing some real maritime wildlife or just wants a nice boat trip.

The staff was very friendly. The van that picked me up was not marked with the business so I was a little hesitant to board at first, since I was traveling alone. Driver was not English speaking so it took me a moment before I was convinced he was with the right tour.
Two other critiques to make this experience from a “good” to a “great”: use a loudspeaker system when narrating the script about the sea life and please, please, please warn your guests to sit down BEFORE the boat begins to sail!! I was asked to move after we were moving and nearly fell in the soaking wet deck. Use more safety precautions with your customers as I was not the only one this happened to! I am from US and vacation in Florida yearly having taken dozens of boat tours and this has never happened to me.
Otherwise, we were able to sight plenty of the Pilot whales in action, but not any dolphins. The amount of time viewing them was adequate for the price of the tour, and the sunset viewing was divine. Viewing the island from the water is a must, especially if you are an avid photographer.

We booked this very late in the day having driven from the north of the island and unfamiliar with any of the pick up addresses.
Right from first contact the company couldn’t have been more helpful arranging a pick up. The crew were super polite attentive and knowledgeable and we got real lucky on our trip seeing many dolphins, tuna and whales. Food and drink (copious, for those that do) was provided, a stop made for swimming in a calm bay and a deliriously beautiful sunset to end the trip, everything we hoped for and more.
The trip may not have been the cheapest available and unlike some they do not offer a no see money back guarantee (though I’m not sure how that latter would work in practice, think it would be hard not to see anything at all but seeing up close for glorious photos as this trip allowed may not be that common). Strong Recommend.

Brilliant service from picking us up to dropping us off back at the Hotel. Our driver the captain and the sailor were the nicest guys and the went out of their way to make sure we had the best time. They knew what they were doing as we saw whales and dolfins on a few occasion. The tapas served in the bay on the way back was really good. Didnt expect service like we got, the reviews we read were good but didnt expect it to be that good. Well worth the price especially when you see other boats rammed with people. Would love to go again. Thanks guys

We booked our trip for a Tuesday but for some reason of the weather they changed their harbour and they let us know too late. Fair play to the guy he offered me to refund my money and let on the day he offered us for a free trip the next day, because it was their fault and he felt very bad about it.
With the tour we was very pleased we seen a few whales unfortunately no dolphins. The people went snorkeling in the bay where we stopped and they did a very nice catering as well.
Definitely recommend this trip and the staff are very nice too

Maybe we were lucky, but we had a fantastic time on board. Not only did the crew know exactly where to look, we saw multiple groups of dolphins, pilot whales and even some flying fish!
The catamaran was well equipped and the crew knowledgeable and attentive. The transfer was made in what seemed like a brand-new minibus too which was great to see! We would highly recommend this tour over some of the other more popular/more heavily advertised companies.

This was a last minute booking for me and my two kids (12 & 7) and I am so glad I booked it !
The boat was beautiful, with only 8 other passengers and the crew couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful
We went for the 1830 3 hr cruise and got a pick up from our hotel included. They took us out from the harbour at Costa Adeje and it wasn’t more than 30 minutes before dolphins were spotted. It was clear these guys knew how to keep distance and respect these creatures but before long it took a turn for the amazing when the dolphins began to play with us and the boat chasing along side us and in front and my kids witnessed something special.
After a short while we then spotted some pilot whales which again was wonderful to see.
Finally we sailed to a quiet bay and had food and drinks and my eldest had the chance to snorkel for the first time as we got to sit and watch the sunset before a leisurely cruise back along the coast and home
I highly highly recommend these guys and will book again the next time I’m in Tenerife

We took the catamaran at 4 o'clock, only 6 of us on the trip so not crowded.
Boat lovely crew friendly and full of knowledge regarding the area.
We were really lucky as saw lots and lots of dolphins close up to the boat and a few whales a little distance away
Trip was great value for money and the tapas and Cava went down well when we stopped just off shore (some of the party even had a little swim.
The trip also includes getting picked up and dropped back at your resort.
Will definitely be going back

Are you just as likely to see dolphins/whales on the sunset cruise, or is it better to go earlier in the day?
Written 15 July 2023
Based on the information the crew gave us on our trip the whales come to the surface during the day to rest and to warm up. At night they dive deep for squid. So maybe there will be fewer at sunset as they start thinking about feeding, but best to ask the people who run the excursions.

Hello everyone
What is the difference between the "Sail" trip and the other one? Isn't it the same boat? Is it really with sails and wind-driven trip?
Thanks !
