About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Sherpa566831443340 contributionsGreat customer service and pleasant experienceThe JST Adventures crew are all very great to work with and made the process as stress-free as possible. We enjoyed the drive up to Pian Upe and the bandas we stayed in. The bandas included an en suite bathroom, small desk & chair, bed with mosquito net, and great views! The staff working at the site we stayed at were really great - very knowledgeable and accommodating. We also enjoyed the ostriches living at the site! That was unexpected and very fun. The food: dinner was really great (got to try eland, very tasty), lunch was pretty good (they made pizza, and we would have preferred more local cuisine). One thing that wasn't optimal were how few animals we saw and how little time we spent on game drives versus all of the other activities. The Karamajong people were actively burning a large portion of the area around where we stayed, so the animals were no where close to us and were very fearful of vehicles/humans.Written 23 January 2020
- Adwoa130 contributionsWonderful Sipi Falls with a wonderful guideI connected with Jacob through Couchsurfing.org. He gave me accommodation and (despite me arriving late at night) was able to arrange for me to go onto Sipi Falls the next day. He gave me instructions for transport and arranged for my guide, Job, to meet me straight out of the taxi. This was the start of an amazing 24 hours! Job was one of the best people I have ever met! You could not wish to meet a kinder or happier soul. He helped me find the perfect accommodation, accompanied me into town (in the rain) to get some things I needed, then took me to a beautiful vista for a sunset storytelling session, complete with a picnic of tea and biscuits. The next day, we met early to hike for four hours between the three main Sipi waterfalls. In the afternoon, we went rock climbing. An awesome experience! Jacob stayed in contact during my tour and even booked my bus ticket to Nairobi for me, so I could jump straight on the bus when I got back. Thank you Jacob & thank you Job! A trip I will never forget.Written 28 August 2019
- FrequentFlier4049090 contributionsAdventure tourI had the privilege of touring my birth country Uganda after a long time of residing in Canada. My friend from Canada, called me one day asking if she could visit me in Uganda so we could go on a safari together. I was overjoyed at the prospect, so I contacted Jacob Wananda of East Trails and asked him if he would arrange a 10-day adventure for us to tour parts of Eastern Uganda. He arranged an itinerary that included touring local areas of interest around Mbale town including drive to Wanale Ridge to view stunning sunsets, a trip to Bududa to see Bullfighting, a trip to Nyero Rock paintings in nearby Kumi to see ancient rock paintings, a two-day game drive at #KidepoValleyNationalPark in northeastern Uganda where we saw a herd of over 3000 water buffalo including 3 of the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes,) as well as a number of diverse wildlife. We also went hiking in the spectacular forest of #MtElgonNationalPark that features multiple waterfalls, indigenous trees, medicinal plants, wild fruit and flowers and a large array of bird species! We learned a lot from #UgandawildlifeAuthority tour guides. My friend went Abseiling at #SipiFalls, and we concluded with a Coffee Tour and delicious lunch at Kamorok Falls View. Suffice to say we had an amazing experience! I am looking forward for more adventurers @easttrails. Thanks Jacob! Catherine Nabudere, Mbale, UgandaWritten 7 August 2019
- NAOMI N0 contributionsHiking Wanale HillHiking Wanale Hill was one of the amazing things I did last year, Thanks to Jacob. The hike was intense but worth it, seeing the falls..and meeting the locals and getting to learn their culture not forgeting how sweet and friendly they are. I totally recommend East Trails 100%. Thank you so much Jacob.Written 7 August 2019
- sheilakalungi0 contributionsAwesome guides 😊the organization is to die forOur trip was well planned, and everything took place without any difficulties. Our guide provided exceptional advice, and had personal knowledge of the places visited, activities and the local culture. We especially were blown away by the wildlife and Karamojong culture in Pian Upe Game Reserve.Written 7 August 2019
- Joel G0 contributionsTrekking to mount Elgon.A last minute decision brought me to Mbale and to meet with Jacob. The very next day all was arranged to be able to climb mount Elgon. All went well and I had the loveliest walk through the park. Enjoying the ever changing scenary, the occasional wildlife visit and the professional guidance of the national rangers. A great experience that I recommend to everyone that love the mountain vibe. Thanks a lot!Written 6 August 2019

Beautiful hike through fields, villages, across waterfalls and ladders. The length of the hike can be adjusted between a day or half day trip, depending on where you start. Jacob is a wonderful guide. Absolutely recommended!
