This was a remarkable and hugely informative way to experience Pompeii! Our guide, Francesco, was a wealth of knowledge and experience, having worked on site as an archaeologist. He really brought the place to life, and he was able to answer our questions. We spent three hours with him, and it was worth every bit of time and money. We also had guides through Pompeiify Tours in Naples. Again, they made sense of the city and its' history in ways we could not have expected. They also took us to the National Archaeological Museum before we went out to Pompeii (and that is where many of the artifacts reside). These guys had PhDs in archaeology, and they were just a lot of fun to be around. If you are wondering if it is worth it, I assure you it totally is!

Having booked previously we booked the POMPEII trip and once again received a fantastic tour with Francesco, a different tour guide, but again a fantastic overview of the POMPEII site and the Vesuvius eruption. Personally for me the small group tour or in this case we were lucky to have a private tour is essential, the knowledge and more importantly where to go is a must have - the site is massive and technically you could wander around looking at a load of "old bricks" and get lost - the guided tour therefore a must IMO and with this tour company you will get an excellent tour of the sites.

From the moment I booked the private tour for my husband and I, the communication from Francesco was terrific. The help provided in giving us the best parking location and meeting spot made for an effortless and stress free start. Pierluigi our guide met us as and whisked us through the entrance. We knew upon meeting him that we had drawn a “winning ticket” in the guide lottery. He was thoughtful, intelligent, excellent english, engaging and able to quickly ascertain what we would be most interested in. His knowledge of Pompeii was impressive but so personalized to us that we didn’t feel we were listening to a memorized dissertation! Our two hours whizzed by but yet we felt that we had a very good understanding of what life was like during the time of Pompeii. Francesco did a wonderful job. He made an amazing place even more interesting with his explanations of the sights. He had an informed answer for every question we had. We had the most delightful tour with Francesco today. We highly recommend him. We got on the wrong train from Sorrento. Francesco was wonderfully flexible, met us at the Pompeii train station, and we had a delightful two + hour tour that was informative but not overwhelming. We highly recommend Francesco.

As a family of five, how good was it to be meet by Francesco at the Pompei entrance and be helped through the tickets and a nice que jump in the process. And this was just the start of the day. Excellent private tour with exceptional guides. Everything went as planned. The company bought entry tickets for us for Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Mt. Vesuvius, which are not always easy to obtain. Roberto, the tour guide at Mt. Vesuvius, was fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Could not have asked for a better experience at this important world heritage site. Pompeiify is very professional and competent- we would use them again without hesitation.

By far this was the highlight of our trip to Italy, we had an amazing time in the Pompeii ruins with Francesco. Francesco was so knowledgeable, patient, and reliable. He showed us the best coral shops and restaurants in the area. His English was fantastic. I am disappointed we did not get to do the Herculaneum ruins with him. We just ran out of time.
