About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- O8969KYks0 contributionsMagical Ride Along the Curonian SpitMatas is a professional outdoorsman who is a Blokart racing competitor at International, European & Lithuanian races. As a European Blokart champion, he brings a wealth of experience & talent to his WIldbeach Blokart Safari. Matas couples his expertise with a deep knowledge of the area, its history and its people with conviction & passion and can do so in five languages! What sets this experience apart is Matas' patience, kindness & expertise in instructing novices. Our family of 3 had no experience piloting a Blokart. Matas was careful in his explanations with tips on sailing in the prevailing wind conditions. As novices, we were able to race along the wild beaches of the Curonian Spit, which is UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pristine dunes flanked the sea as our Blokarts danced along the beach for hours scattering shore birds into the sky. As a family that likes to do unique adventures when on holiday, we highly recommend the Wildbeach Blokart Safari. It was magical, awe-inspiring & super fun. Don't hesitate to book this experience for yourself. You will make amazing memories to last a lifetime. Aciu labai - Matas & crew!Written 20 July 2024

- tuttta0 contributionsThe most amazing thrilling experience! We went to Nida on a family trip with 2 boys aged 9 and 6. We’ve been so lucky to find Irklakojis as they offer such unusual experiences. We’ve chosen to go on a blokart ride. What can I say, this was super fun!! I was really impressed how quickly a totally inexperienced in a sail sport person can learn to steer under Matas’s guidance. In 10 minutes I was able to regulate the speed easily and even drive against the wind! My 10 year old son was riding a blokart on his own and was absolutely capable to doing everything on his own. He said it was the best fun ever. I also need to say a specific thank you to Matas and his team. The whole trip was organised perfectly well and we have enjoyed every minute of it! We will definitely be back!Written 20 September 2018
- Kristijonas S0 contributionsLoads of fun in the windTried Blokart in Neringa both in summer on the beach and last time in winter on the frozen Curonian Lagoon. As long as the wind is blowing both experiences were great (although the winter option requires proper clothing). Would like to ride the abandoned airport next time in Nida. Matas is very positive, fun to be around and a great mentor when it comes to sailing. Also Irklakojis have plenty of other activities as far as I know. Really helps to have quality outdoor activities available to enjoy the wonderful nature of the Curonian Spit as the slow pase of life in Neringa might sometimes get a little dull.Written 27 July 2018
- Ürtë Ü0 contributionsGreat way to experience Nida‘s Great Dunes area close upMe being local, and my friends visiting me, wanted to do some outdoor activity in Nida. We decided to go for Irklakojis canoe and hiking tour to explore Nida sand Dunes. And what an amazing 2,5 hours experience we had! First of all Matas was a fabulous instructor and facilitated everything from the moment we met on the lagoon shore. Our group had a first-time canoeing couple and it was impressing how well the basics of paddling were explained (we used double paddles instead of single paddles) and the support from our guide who gave this couple the skills to experience stunning views from the Curonian lagoon to Parnidis and the Great dunes. I was amazed how different could look the landscape as you observe it from the water rather as from the land which I was used to. We enjoyed not only being on the water, but also the hiking into the dunes and listening to all the stories our guide Matas told. It was for the first time I understood in which way my homeland – Curonian spit - was formed and why the Great sand dunes appeared. Thanks Matas for this eye-opener! Grace to this tour I experienced a more subtle beauty of this sandy place that I would have otherwise missed. Do yourself a favor and go for this tour!Written 18 July 2018
- Andreas B0 contributionsWild Beach Blokart safari - Exhilarating experience, ...Exhilarating experience! You know the feeling when the corners of your mouth pull up in a big grin? Ohh yeah, we were able to experience this condition with Matas from Irklakojis for couple hours on the Wild Beach blokart safari. After a short blokart briefing we (five adventurers) climbed in the landsails Boliden and started from Juodkrantė around 20 kilometers long trip. This adventure is pure freedom, speed without end, with perceived 50 km / h we sailed along the beach. We had at times even the sea beneath our wheels a truly exhilarating experience. We can only recommend it and will definitely be back.YeahhhhWritten 17 July 2018

This was our second visit to the exquisite Curonian Spit. We were looking for a way to experience the dunes and the lagoon from a different perspective, so this kayak tour was perfect.
We joined the tour in Nida, and were transferred by minibus to the starting point in Juodkrante. From there, you kayak southwards on the lagoon for 14km - stopping en route for a picnic lunch - and are then picked up by bus to return to the starting point.
The scenery is glorious, and it's a privilege to experience sometimes precipitously steep dunes that access is prohibited to from the landward side.
Early on in the tour, you'll pass one of Europe's largest cormorant colonies, which boasts 6000 birds, and you'll also spot other water birds on the lagoon and in the fringing reed beds. We were very lucky, as we also saw a white tailed eagle soaring over the dunes.
In terms of organisation, the staff are friendly - mostly students on their summer vacation when we visited - and were obliging (for example, offering to pick us up from our accommodation). The kayaking equipment and life vests are in good condition, and a 'dry bag' is provided for your valuables. Just bear in mind that although you're provided with a cushion for comfort, the kayaks do not have back rests and the entire trip takes about 5 hours, so if you have a bad back, this might be a little challenging.
Lunch is a fairly basic picnic on a beach, and comprises bread, cheeses, cold meats and cucumber, with some biscuits and sweets. Tea, coffee and water are also provided.
This trip is definitely family-friendly. We did this trip with our son (who's just about to turn 13), and the other family who were on the same tour had sons of about 7 and 10 along. Kids can either participate in paddling, or can just let their parents do the hard work.
Overall, a lovely day's activity, and highly recommended.

We LOVED our canoe trip. We had been hiking and biking in the forests and dunes before, but exploring the spit from the lagoon, in canoes, was brilliant. Mattas was a really friendly and informative guide, and we highly recommend him. We want to come back and try some of the winter activities.

In recent years I have been spending my holidays in Curonian Spit - beautiful land piece between two waters. As I am an active person, I founded Irklakojis, an eco-tourism small company, and tried several of their proposed activities.Canoeing tour to Dead Dunes is my favourite!!! I've done that tour for three times already, each time with a different guide, and different directions (either from Pervalka to Juokrante or opposite). I just enjoyed the flow of Curonian waters, winds and stunning views, interesting stories, there is enough time to stay with yourself while paddling and observing as well as, if you like, with new people. Highly recommended! 10 points! And a possibility to see the spit from a different - unique - angle.
