          Best way to see Madeira
The drivers will bring you to lots of beautiful spots on Madeira and you see all the different landscapes. All of this is packed with some off-road-action and adventure.

          Amazing Guide and Thrilling Rides!
Loved this tour! And if you're faint of heart maybe consider staying at your hotel. When I read negative reviews for this tour, all those things were positives for me! The ride is rough and can be muddy through the narrow off road streets you will be on. I loved being able to stand in the back of the jeep during this, even the older man in our group stood up and enjoyed dodging branches with us. The temperature during our April stay was between 24 to 30 degrees so the seats got hot while we were out of the car. The sights were mesmerizing, when you look up it was almost as if the mountains stretched out above us. Our driver was such a fun guy and said he continues to look up more information about the island so he can provide better tours. He also had extra time at the end of our tour so he brought us back to the Poncha bar at the base of the mountain. Our guide Diego was what made the tour so fun and thrilling, his driving was impressive and his humour is infectious. I highly recommend you try one of these tours just be prepared for rough roads and tight turns!

          Great experience
We did two tours with this company exploring Northeast and Northwest areas of the island. We had the most incredible time on our tours with Nelson. From start to finish, he showed us everything we could have hoped to see and more. We can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking for an unforgettable experience.

Highly recommend! Our guide, Nelson, was excellent, we learnt a lot and saw some really beautiful parts of Madeira. A really lovely experience.

          Thank you Dino
We loved our jeep tour and Dino, our guide and driver, was spectacular, he was tireless, both in his conversations and explanations and the passion he has for his land and what he does, despite the weather not being the best and unfortunately we had a very unfriendly couple who from the beginning complained about everything from their seats, like the weather itself, for them everything was an excuse to complain, they should have stayed on the boat. But Dino had a lot of patience and politeness and proved to be a true professional. I recommend this company to anyone who wants to have a good time on adventure and get to know the island of Madeira.

          Most uncomfortable Ride
This was the first time using this company and my last time! The jeep that was used for the tour I is for four persons and not for six persons. We were placed in the back of the vehicle on jump seats facing each other with no view! It was the worst and most uncomfortable ride we have ever experienced. The driver did a poor job of telling us where we were going and what we were seeing! Poor communication skills! We don't remember this tour!

          Rough riders/worst ride ever
This by far was the worst shore excursion I have ever taken! First, they put 5 persons in a jeep that can only seat four persons including the driver! We were placed in the jump seats with poor cushions facing each other in the back of the vehicle which was totally uncomfortable and a very rough ride! We could not see anything during the ride! Then our driver took us through some very rough roads in the mountains with all of us bouncing all around the vehicle! The driver didn't drive or take the pot holes easy at all! The majority of time he was going through those pot hole with no regards for us in the very back as well those in the other seats! Not taking into consideration if anyone had a bad back or any other medical issues! The driver kept laughing like it was funny during the rough ride! The driver never explain what and where we were going! He kept telling us about him buying a fixer up house and him making numerous repairs to it! No warning that this was going to be a very rough ride in the backwoods' in the mountain! The biggest waste of money I have ever spent! I don't recommend this tour at all! Unless you want the worst ride of your life! I couldn't wait to return to the ship! Also the company needs to hired employees that speak clear English!

A great way to see harder to reach areas of the island
We booked onto this tour having been on the Porto Moniz - Enchanted Terraces north east tour two days before and enjoying it so much! As it's such a great way to see hard to reach parts of the island, we booked onto this one covering the eastern side of the island. Our guide Jose was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and plants, and we spent a good chunk of time standing in the open top Jeep going through the forest where you can smell the eucalyptus plants and incredibly fresh air. One of the highlights was standing in the open top Jeep and going up and down the valleys on some of the smoother roads, with fantastic views down to the coast and up to the highest peaks. The views from the highest peak when we got there, Pico do Arieiro, were incredible. We were lucky with the weather in that it was really clear (it had rained a lot in the days up to this, but had been told we were there during unusually bad weather). It was however very windy and cold so pack a coat or jacket for this bit! We opted out of the 18 euro lunch offer (having not been overly keen on it during the other tour, partly due to the vegetarian options) and Jose recommended another restaurant for us to go to in Santana which was great. Jose also threw in a few surprise stops along the way which I won't spoil on here!!

          Fun excursion
It was a fun mix of fun facts and a just right amount of adrenaline - it was a jeep safari after all and you have to be mindful of that it will be a bit bumpy sometimes, which 2 of the participants of our tour I think forgot and were unhappy. The three of us, however, were very satisfied with the tour and felt safe all along. Our driver Nelson was very knowledgeable, but also fun. We saw amazing views, learned a lot about the island and tasted some delicious wines. We recommend!

          Madeira sightseeing
We spent four days touring Madeira with the Green Devils, discovering parts of the island that most tourists don't see. Our drivers Lino, Hugo and Liliana were excellent. They were very skilled drivers and had an extensive knowledge of the island. The tour included some meals, which were very good and gave us the opportunity to sample local fare. The whole experience has given me some wonderful memories and I hope to return to Madeira and use Green Devils again.

          Fabulous Experience!
We were on a theme week organised through the Holiday Property Bond with 16 people in total, mainly couples who had never met before. Green Devil provided 3 Land Rovers and the same drivers every day so we all became very friendly and it was a 'laugh a minute' experience. We spent a lot of time off road and visiting places in Madeira that tourists would never normally get to. All the drivers were excellent and their knowledge very broad. Most days included a large meal somewhere and we never had a bad one. This is highly recommended but note there is a lot of shaking about on some of the off-road driving so be aware if you have any joint/bone issues.

Fantastic off road experience in the forest
We went to explore the other side of the island. Julia picked us up from our hotel and we were off. Only 4 to our jeep us and another couple. Julia explained everything she was so easy to talk to and was so informative. I’m not the best when I’m not driving but I felt completely safe with her. We went to places that on our own we would never have found. The highlight of my day had to be the off road section. Stood in the back of the jeep driving through the forest with the wind blowing through my hair, I haven’t felt so relaxed and free in a long time. Then off for lunch which for a couple was 36 euro but could have fed a family of 4 to be fair. Then to see the traditional houses which we could go inside of one where we had a local home made drink waiting for us. I didn’t want the day to end it was fantastic. Highly recommended and when we come out to Madeira again we will definitely be exploring with this company again. Thanks Julia a fantastic day was had, you were amazing.

Been on a handful of day trips while in Madeira but the guide for this tour was by far the best. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name (he used to race 4x4 off-road, maybe Jose?) but he was very friendly, encouraged questions, and knew a ridiculous amount about the island and all of its flora. Often stopped to jump out and pick some fresh herb or fruit by the side of the road, including a ripe passion fruit which we were allowed to taste. The off-road sections were fun but the guide in particular made it an amazing day out, and travelling solo it’s an easy way to meet other travellers and have some company for the day. Strongly recommend.

My friend and I did the Enchanted Terraces tour with Lino and it was absolutely the best tour ever. Lino was knowledgeable in every village we visited, he was funny, took lots of awesome pictures of us and made us feel like a family even though at the beginning of the tour we were all strangers. We learned all dogs are called Bobby, cats are called psssshshshsh and cows are Antonias 🤣. Totally recommend the experience and be ready for a traditional Madeira Massage in the mountains 🏔🌄🏞🚙

Did the tour with Rui on 2 Jan 2023 - he was friendly, personable and interactive. Took the time to show us many interesting sights around Madeira, including stopping along the way to point out certain plants and trees.

The 4x4 ride was exciting, the walk in Fanal forest was magical, and €15 lunch (we opted for the set meal) in Porto Moniz was superb. Took a dip in the volcanic pools of Seixal, and capped the day with viewing a few waterfalls on the way back.

Our tour had 6 guests booked but 3 did not show up despite waiting at their hotel for over 25 minutes. That didn’t prevent us from having a wonderful experience. Highly recommended 5* tour!

We had a great day with Spencer as our guide! He is very knowledgeable, but most of all VERY funny, you will not get bored with him! He was also concerned with our safety, telling us to wear seatbelts whenever necessary and to watch our heads when we stepped in and out of the car. He even went out of his way to explain things in German to another passenger as well.
We had some great views, and the off-roading in the mountains was very exciting as well. The lunch (only 12 euros, but don't forget to bring cash) was nice, with plenty of meat and fish options. After lunch we got the chance to swim at the natural pools in Porto Moniz (so don't forget your swimming gear!). Since we went on a Sunday, it was too busy to go down to the Seixal beach, which was understandable. We did see it from up the hill though. If you really want to see the black sandy beach from up close, you should go on a weekday!
After our tour, we got some recommendations about other tours from Spencer, and we could very easily change the type and date of the second 4x4 tour we had planned later that holiday via email.
General tip: don't wear super short shorts (or if you do, bring something to sit on), because the seats can get very hot in the sun which can be painful for the bare skin (ouch)!

Was very fun. The 4x4 bit was the best. Our man really liked his power ballad. Making standing up on a open top Land Rover jiggling about the music and the terrain a great memory. Rock pool was slippy though so slide in on your bum.

This tour was absolutely brilliant! I was on my own but in a group of 4 altogether. Our guide Lino was very welcoming, extremely funny and very knowledgeable about all things Madeira. He was so passionate about what he does and made our experience unforgettable. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great tour. His driving of the 4x4 was great, he was interactive throughout and also took some fantastic photos. I highly recommend using Green Devil Safari tours. Special mention again to Lino, you really made the tour amazing and I would love to go on another tour with you when I return to Madeira in future. 10/10.

This was a great day trip to soak up Madeira outside Funchal. Easy to book - company went out of their way to arrange an affordable pick up and drop off as I was staying outside Funchal which the other company I looked at wanted to charge me 25 e which when solo is a lot of money.
The guide was very knowledgable and fun and a very competent driver.
The swimming and volcanic pools were the highlight - I would of liked to understand that we would be going straight from Moniz to siexal for swimming though as I wouldn’t of got fully changed from one to the other and then would of done more swimming. It would be useful to have the timetable of the day and a list of things to bring at the beginning
Overall this was a fantastic trip

I'd read the reviews and thought it sounded great, and I wasn't wrong! It is a full day trip in an open top 4x4 up to the north western side of the island. There were six of us in total in our Jeep, but a small convoy of other Jeeps with us for much of the day. Our tour guide and driver was Nelson who was a most entertaining guide! He was very knowledgeable about the island, it's culture and geography, including the plants and animals. He was also able to speak to us in English and the other four in French (despite saying his French wasn't very good!). The guides all interact with each other and have a good laugh throughout the day.

As we were a full car, I stayed sat in the front passenger seat but the rest of the group were able to stand up during the open top parts of the trip as we bounded up rocky hills. The weather was incredibly changeable all day (we certainly experienced all four seasons multiple times!) but it didn't detract from the day at all and we all had a great time. A couple of the natural pools were closed due to the mad weather, but we did have a brief swim in the sea at a black sandy beach in Seixal (pack your swimming costume!).

In hindsight, I'd have probably not bothered with the 18 euro lunch offer at Porto Moniz and found somewhere else to get food, but this was largely because as a vegetarian my options were limited to "vegetable pasta"! This didn't detract from the day though.

It was a brilliant way to see parts of the island we'd have struggled to reach from Funchal without a car, or even with a car given some of the terrain! We enjoyed it so much, we booked onto the Madeira Peaks east tour for later on in our holiday.

We booked this after an outstanding trip four years ago with a different operator. I wish I could remember who it was with because changing was a huge mistake.

It started off with the driver being half and hour late. Then we had to drive 45 minutes to pick the final two customers up, so we actually started the tour about 10am instead of 8.30 that it states in the brochure.

The first stop was a bar to have a local poncha or other drink, this will be a theme all day, we only stopped at places that there was a tourist shop conveniently right next door.

I should mention the vehicle we were in. Yes, it was 4x4, but it wasn't open top and it felt like it would fall to bits any second. The frame on the passenger seat that lifted up to let people into the back had broken supports, god help the person sat in that seat if there was an accident. You could also feel the steel frame of the back rests as they were so worn down.

After the poncha bar we trundled up the side of a mountain bouncing those steel bars in the back rest right into my spine. When we got up high you couldn't see a thing as it was cloudy and raining, so we headed back down for lunch.

We got the option to have a three course meal for €15 each, which sounds like a bargain. It isn't. You get what you pay for. 1/4 of a garlic bread, the worst cooked, fatty grizzly espanada (steak on a stick) and a flavourless caramel pudding. There are loads of other restaurants nearby so if you take your life in to your hands with this trip say no to the lunch, pay a bit more and get something worth eating.

The afternoon comprised of driving to a swimming spot for an hour, then to a black sand beach for 40 minutes, then to see three of the most pathetic waterfalls I have ever seen.

If you've taken the time to read all of this, do yourself a favour and book with a different operator, because this one is all about parting you with your money.

A really great day out. Friendly knowledgeable guide in Nuno who is a great communicator in several languages and a great driver to have. It was a well paced trip with enough stops and opportunities to appreciate the various points of interest and to swim. Nice restaurant for lunch at Porto Moniz and a great little stop for poncha! It was great to see this part of the island with someone who really knows and loves Madeira. Highly recommend this company and especially Nuno.
