- Francesca S0 contributionsWe loved every minutes!2 days one night kayaking. We had the most wonderful and adventurous experience in Phang Nga Bay. Well organised, punctual and the guide was very knowledgeable. He was able to adapt to our level of fitness. First day kayaking for few hours, between islands. We were able to see animals, plant life and rock formations. Lunch in a private beach. We slept on Kao Noi island in a lovely bungalow. Second day kayaking in the mangroves and caves…. We absolutely loved every minute. It’s an an adventurous experience so be prepared!Written 4 January 2025
- allisonmZ8136VE0 contributionsAn (actual) off-the-beaten-track adventure - exceptional! We did a two day paddling / one night camping trip and wow - what a gem of an experience! In a country overflowing with subpar mass tourism "excursions," this truly felt genuine, sustainable and well off the beaten track. Mr. Run was an excellent and very experienced guide who showed us some incredibly special places and shared great information without being overbearing - we had the space to go at our pace, explore the things that interested us and just enjoy the quiet of the place. Food was excellent, logistics were seamless and even the camping, while obviously uncomfortable in a climate like Thailand's, was a memorable night that we're so happy to have had; sitting on a secluded beach and watching thunderstorms roll in from the door of our tent was an experience that we'll remember for a long time to come. Highly, highly recommended!Written 15 December 2024
- hannetuulia0 contributionsGreat experience of the Phang Nga archipelagoPaddle Asia was definitely top choice to experience this amazing archipelago! As an experienced paddler I wanted to paddle myself thru the impressive scenery and Paddle Asia offers this. Minimum trip duration for solo traveller is 2 days, and I recommend this duration as then I got to paddle more and all the transits were not squeezed in one day. Length of the day and paddled distance was suitable for me. Mr. Run is a very good guide and the route on both days was captivating. I got to see hawks, lizard, monkey, mudskippers etc. as the waters close to Koh Yao Noi are not crowded with tourists. Seeing all the garbage on the beaches and in the sea is heartbreaking. Even though the area is national park, there seems to be very little effort to keep it clean. The front deck of my kayak was too low, so I couldn't comfortably fit my long legs. On the second day of the trip, Mr. Run agreed to switch kayaks with me to prevent my legs from going numb. That day went better in that regard, even though the guide's kayak wasn't easy to keep stable in its direction in the waves. Tip: Bring your own safety leash for paddle!Written 15 December 2024
- DawnHinds0 contributionsA perfect way to explore Phang Nga BayAmazing! We did the 5 day/4 night kayaking with 1 day of mountain biking. Our guides were Anan and Mr Run and both were fantastic, knowledgeable and had very good English. We saw lots of wildlife including a very special experience seeing a group of Dusky Langur monkeys playing in the trees above us, not worried at all that we were there. The kayaking took us through caves to lagoons, along the base of the limestone karsts and through mangroves, each day a different location. We hardly saw anyone else which is strange when the scenery is so stunning! The picnic lunches of Thai dishes were amazing - very tasty! The accommodation whilst basic, was clean and comfortable with a very good breakfast. Each evening we ate at the nearby Ciao Bella which served both Thai and Italian food which was all very tasty. I would highly recommend this tour!Written 16 May 2024
- 412ethanm0 contributions6-day family kayaking trip10/10 excellent trip. We took our family of 4 kids (ages 12, 14, 17, 20) and two 45+ parents and loved every second.Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. A few of the best things about our trip: 1. Sit-in kayaks! This type of kayak allowed us to go safely across wide expanses of open water to different islands, was safer for my kids who were beginners, protected our legs from the sun, gave us comfortable seats during long paddles, and was a much smoother paddle through the mangroves and into sea caves. 2. Our itinerary was customized for our skill level. Our first day was challenging as we paddled across very choppy seas in high wind...BUT, it was straight runs. So we were able to figure out paddling techniques. My 14 and 16 yr olds were in single kayaks, the rest of us in double, and we all were able to keep up without a problem. Ultimately, we were very grateful for a more challenging first day as we had no issues when we came across wind and waves later in the week. There was also a noticeable improvement day to day and Mr. Run took us to trickier locations as our paddling skills got better and better. 3. There were a wide variety of places and things to see and explore--monkeys, bat caves, stalactites, private beaches, jellies, mangroves, open sea, gorgeous hidden caves that opened into secret lagoons, petroglyphs, cliff jumping, and so much more. We were never bored. 4. LUNCH!! A variety of authentic Thai dishes to choose from every day. It was prepared locally and tailored to fit our spice tolerance. Hahaha. Glad for an increase of delicious calories to burn again and again and again. 5. Our family filled the entire group so we didn't paddle with other people. It felt like we were in our own private space every single day. Mr. Run and his jr. guide, kept us on routes that were peaceful and away from the crowds. (We did do the channels on Day-3 where we paddled against the tourists coming from Phuket, but once out of the channels, we didn't see anyone else for the rest of the day...just loads of monkeys.) 6. We started our day at 8:30am and finished between 3:30-4:30. It was a full day, every day, of exploring Phang Nga Bay. We came back to the hotel tired enough for showers, dinner, walking on the beach, or just playing in the pool. There wasn't a feeling like we needed to fill our time with other touristy things. 7. Seamless booking and easy payment. Dave was beyond helpful and made sure everything was exactly as we hoped. All things fully exceeded our expectations. 8. Besides dinners, everything else is all-inclusive so we weren't spending any extra money for 6 days of our vacation!! No hidden fees or extras to see the coolest places. Yay!! Some tips and tricks when you book with Paddle Asia-- 1. Look at the packing list--and actually follow it. We were very happy to have paddling gloves, hats, sunglasses, water shoes, moleskin for small blisters. We went through 4 bottles of 70 SPF sunscreen in 6-days and came out on top! The only things we didn't get were the head lamps. (Mr. Run had some we borrowed.) We used everything else--minus the meds. No tummy trouble for us. 2. It was good for us to have at least one double kayak so our least experienced paddler could just ride when needed. (Be aware: doubles are wider and heavier so harder to maneuver, but we didn't have any issues going anywhere with them.) 3. Relax! Paddling isn't hard and is so much more fun and less tiring when you let the paddles do the work. Use your core, keep your neck and shoulders, loose, watch Mr. Run's technique and you won't wake up the next morning hating life. 4. Take lots of pictures and if you're techy, do a google earth mapping of your paddle. We dropped pins each day in all the different places we visited and paired them with our photos. It's like a digital scrapbook without all the paper and glue. Plus you get to guesstimate how far you've gone. So cool! (We averaged anywhere between 8-15km of paddling a day.) 5. Do it!! 6 days was perfect for our family. For us a multi-day trip was the best of the best, but if you can't do a multi-day trip, do the day trip. You'll be bragging (and dreaming) about this part of your Thailand adventure for years to come.Written 26 March 2024
- Annemarie L0 contributionsMagical experience kayaking the Thailand island.A big thanks to Dave and his team. This was a seamless experience from booking to pick ups and experience! Everyone was on time, staff were super friendly and the kayaking experience totally magical. The scenes and beauty were isolated and tranquil. We did a fair amount of rowing but exactly what we wanted. A great experience of the Thai islands.Written 31 December 2023
- Yippon0 contributionsAn Amazing Day in the IslandsWe have had a fantastic day in the islands, the trip was carefully planned out and the equipment, timing, food, transportation were all organized perfectly. Kuhn Run was our guide for the day and it had turnout we were the only ppl booked the tour on the 1st of May and we were looked after really well. he had go out his way to paddle for my wife in the double kayak just so I can have more fun with the single kayak. Prior to the tour day, the communications with Dave was also very smooth and he had make sure we understand all the details. I’d rate the tour 10/10, will definitely come back again for the camp and canoe 2 days tour.Written 2 May 2023
- vardas0 contributionsA perfect kayaking trip for a professional paddlersWe booked a one-week kayaking trip for a group of professional rowers from Israel. The logistical care given by Dave was extremely professional, Dave tailored the trip to our needs - we got everything that was promised and more!. The trip itself was led by Ran, a trip that was successful and enjoyable beyond expectations! Ran the guide was attentive to our needs and a pleasant person. Thanks to him we paddled not only to the "normal" magical landscapes that the area offers but also to hidden and very unique corners known to him as a local paddler - very hidden stalactite caves.Written 6 February 2023
- 803evans0 contributionsGreat time Kayaking and BikingWe combined the 2-day kayaking and 1-day mountain biking trips for a perfect mini active outdoor getaway in Phuket. The kayaking was absolutely beautify and far from the other tourists as promised on the website. We barely saw anyone else, only a few speedboats and one other kayak the second day. Mr. Run and his crew managed all gear and lunches very efficiently, plus he was a very enthusiastic and friendly guide to show us around the area. The islands, limestone formations, lagoons, and mangroves are all gorgeous and fun to explore. We covered about 9-10 miles kayaking each day. Biking across the island was lots of fun and we covered a huge amount of the island, including the local villages, rubber plantations, many bungalows, beaches, and piers with lovely views to the sea and other islands across the way. Heads up that "lunch" for us was pretty early, barely 11am, so we weren't as hungry for it as we would have liked (the food was really nice and we were sad we couldn't eat too much of it) - maybe ask ahead to properly manage your breakfast. All logistics were super easy. Booking and discussing options via whatsapp got our whole trip settled in a morning instead of a delayed email exchange (plus it was fun chatting with Dave about the area), and all the transit legs were smooth and on-time. The bungalows we stayed at were fairly simple, but reasonable shower and strong A/C unit. There are a good number of things in walking distance: we had a Thai massage on the beach, drinks at a cute beach bar, and a couple nice dinners at nearby restaurants.Written 19 January 2023
- lindaS3713RT0 contributionsSpry 84 year old grandma returns to Phuket and Paddle AsiaNov. 2022 I am a spry 84. Back in 2006 my husband and I enjoyed kayaking with Paddle Asia. We had a wonderful time, so I was thrilled when our family was able to visit Thailand and spend another two days with Paddle Asia. Going into caves, lunches on the beach - all wonderful just as I remembered. Run and his team were always helpful and even served us fresh chilled coconuts. The huts (much nicer than a hut) for our overnight were air conditioned and very comfortable. Owner, Dave Williams, was very easy to work with setting up our trip. He even recommended an excellent restaurant near the resort where we were staying. Paddle Asia is a great experience for old and young and anyone in between!Written 7 December 2022
- K4158NJkevinb0 contributionsGreat experience and highly recommend Paddle Asia.We just completed a 2-day one night paddle trip with Paddle Asia and it could not have gone better. The customer service, the food, the attention to skill levels and overall support were all excellent. Our lead guide Khun Run and his support (Mr. Ha) were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and clearly love both their work and their home. We had a prop come off on our longtail boat and the whole event could have been handled poorly but instead it was almost a non-issue. The guides handled getting us all into our kayaks and a replacement boat showed up while we were paddling, and it became a memory instead of a problem. I highly recommend Paddle Asia for the ease of booking, the professionalism, knowledge and engagement of the guides and true passion for what they do. They definitely go above and beyond.Written 6 December 2022
- hannahmur10 contributionsAn incredible and unique experience in Phang Nga BayAfter looking at a couple of different companies, a friend and I booked the Phang Nga Bay kayaking day trip with Paddle Asia as we liked the idea of paddling ourselves and getting away from the crowds. We also appreciated the company’s sustainable and eco-friendly approach to tourism. We can honestly say this trip exceeded our expectations in so many ways! We were the only two on the trip and had two fantastic guides (Run and Mr D) with us throughout the day who not only kept us safe (we had to navigate some windy conditions at times and neither of us have done much kayaking before) but were also very informative and pointed out lots of different wildlife that we encountered. Run also happily took lots of photos of us which we appreciated! The scenery of the islands was absolutely stunning and we were able to enjoy the serenity without hoards of people everywhere. In fact, we probably only passed 2-3 small boats throughout the entire day meaning we pretty much had the entire bay to ourselves. The day was the perfect balance with plenty of time paddling around the islands, lagoons and hongs but also some breaks to rest, swim and walk in the lagoons and private beaches. We particularly enjoyed a lovely lunch break where we were able to rest and relax on a private beach with a delicious pre-prepared lunch. Although initially we were a little hesitant about the cost, we are SO glad we booked this trip! For us, it was a money cant buy experience and one we would both do again in a heartbeat if we were to return to Thailand. A huge thanks to our local guides Run and Mr D for their guidance on the day, and to Dave for his prompt communication via email allowing us to book the trip with little notice!Written 9 December 2019
- jbw_phuket0 contributionsThis is the only REAL paddling company in Phang Nga BayWe had a wonderful day out with Mr Run, the Phang-Nga Bay guide for PaddleAsia. My main comment is this: why do people go with other paddling companies? These other companies take you to the same old spots they have been taking people to for the past 30 years. Now they are just more crowded. And you don't generally paddle your own canoes as they must think people are incompetent? 🤷♂️ With Paddle Asia you row your own boat as you should. If you go with PaddleAsia you will see the same or better scenery with no other tourists around. Mr Run knows the area well, he was born here. With 50 lovely islands in the bay, why go to the same islands with hundreds of other tourists? We took a longtail boat to a wonderful beach which we explored while the staff prepared our kayaks. We paddled gently around limestone cliffs. If anyone got tired you could bail at anytime but the paddling was easy. We took a lunch break on the beach then paddled some more and ended up in a wonderful bay which looked just like Koh Tapu (James Bond Island) but we were the only ones there. And there were no venders selling us stuff we didn’t want. We visited three lovely lagoons or “hongs” one of which had hundreds of fruit bats. Another had two romantic oriental pied hornbills cleaning each other. We watched them quietly for 30 minutes. Try doing that with the other companies where scores of canoes queue up trying to get into the same hong. ♂️ We took a swim then got in the longtail boat to take us back to Koh Yao Noi where we began completely circling the entire island in one day. Lots of wildlife. Lovely scenery. No other tourists. What could be better?Written 4 December 2019
- collette_110 contributions2 day kayaking trip in Phang Nga BayWOW! This was such an amazing part of our trip to Thailand. From initially inquiring to actually being on the trip the experience was fantastic! It was a private tour for myself and my partner Paul and it was even better than we imagined! Massive thanks to Mr Run our guide who made the whole thing brilliant. It was a real laugh and he went out of his way to help us have fun and make the most of the trip, he was always on the lookout for any wildlife we might be able to spot. He really cares about his home and the whole trip factors in and minimizes the environmental impact. The scenery was beautiful and there was literally no one else around. I couldn't believe how such an amazing spot was still so untouched. It was perfect for us as we didn't want the touristy areas and that's exactly what we got. I can't explain how amazing the whole experience was but I recommend it to anyone who wants to see the real beauty in the bay without being surrounded by tourists. Worth every penny. Huge thanks to Run and Dave. Will definitely be using them again if we are lucky enough to come back.Written 2 December 2019

Boi was our guide and did a great job taking care of us! We had excellent food and fun! Do the homestay! Our hostess was a gem and took great care! She fed us more than we could ever eat! Any questions or concerns were quickly handled! You can't go wrong with a tour from Dave and his team!Written 15 November 2019

We booked a two day kayaking tour with Paddle Asia end of January. I'm glad Dave recommended a two day tour, as staying overnight on Khao Yao Noi saved us a lot of time.
After my friend Heath and I got on the speedboat that took as to Kho Yao Noi, we changed onto the long tail boat with the kayaks, which brought us to a small beach on remote island in Phang Nga Bay. There was only the two of us and two more guest with Dave and a Thai guide, in six kayaks.
We got into the kayaks and paddled between the amazing limestone formations, and even into a small lagoon with hundreds of fruit bats.
For lunch we paddled onto another small beach where the long tail awaited us with some delicious Thai food. We had the whole beach for ourself!
In the afternoon we continued in the kayaks and went around the island, into another small lagoon and across to the next island. kayaking with Paddle Asia is even for an absolute beginner like my friend enjoyable, because the guide always stayed back to sweep, and the pace in general is very relaxed.
About 3pm the long tail picked us up again and took us directly on to the beach in front of our resort on Khao Yao Noi, where we got changed and had time to relax at the pool. The Chukit resort is a Bungalow resort kept nicely clean, with air con rooms. As there's no traffic anywhere on the island it is very quite.
For dinner we walked about 10 min down the road to a beautiful garden restaurant with delicious Thai and western food.
The next day, after breakfast we got back on the long tail, which took us to a wide area with mangroves, that we paddled along and through until lunch. To close the trip, Dave took us into a lagoon, about 1.5 km long, before we got back on the long tail.
The whole day we didn't see a single other person!
Great adventure tour with Paddle Asia. Thanks to Dave and his team!

My husband and I just completed this fabulous day trip to Yao Noi and surrounding islands. Our guide Mr. Man was very knowledgeable about the islands and the wildlife and showed us innumerable species. He took us to a secluded mangrove lagoon and pointed out many interesting details. The paddle was easy enough for a beginner but interesting enough for an experienced paddler. The beaches he took us to were quiet and unspoiled by resorts and hawkers. It was truly a magical day and one I will long remember. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic glimpse of the islands surrounding Phuket. Dave, the owner, was very responsive to emails. He answered all of my questions quickly. It was a great experience

Thank you very much for coming with us! Thanks for the details explaining what you enjoyed. I'll pass your praise onto Mr. Man. I'm sure he'll be very happy to see this.
Take care and keep in touch. If you're ever in this region again and want to get away from it all, we'll be here.
BTW, I'm not the owner or even a shareholder. Paddle Asia is 100% Thai-owned. I gave up my shares a long time ago so that the crew would know it's their company.
Much thanks,
Dave & team

I took the tour in March and i had a great time.
It was different than any other Phi Phi o Phang Nga tour.
We got our own kayaks and that made for a great experience.
The guide spoke very good english wich i found was rare in Thailand even in the tourist resorts.
We got to see different areas of the Phang Nga Bay, beaches and lagoons where we were really alone, and outside the usual tourist routes, so it felt like we were exploring the area.
The downside is that it was more expensive than other Phang Nga tours but i felt it was worth it.

Thank you very much for coming with us, Alex. Yep, you made the right choice. 😊
Yes, we're a bit more expensive because we've got more overhead than the mass tourism companies and because we go to a more remote area of the bay to get away from everyone else.
Thanks again and do keep in touch. We hope to see you again one of these days.
All the best,
Dave & team

Absolutely amazing, from start to finish. Dave was more than accommodating and flexible with me having to change the number of people coming a couple of times. We all had an amazing experience. No other tourists, beautiful landscapes, and the tour routes and difficulty level are adjusted to the ability and desire of the group. We were really excited about seeing a lot and were up for the challenge and the guide really took us to some amazing spots and some long crossings that were great. It was absolutely perfect, exactly how you wish a trip like this to be, with the ability to explore at your leisure and having a great guide showing you all the hidden spots. The bus shuttle pick up and drop off were smooth, the longboat ride was beautiful, the kayaking itself was incredible and a fun challenge, the places we visited were gorgeous, the guides were great and funny, the food was delicious and our lunch spot was the mind blowing.
I had such high expectations for this activity, it was at the top of my list of things I wanted to do. I'm so glad I did the research for the best tours and ended up with Paddle Asia. You really get the best possible experience for you and your group, getting in touch with nature, getting some exercise, and leaving all the people behind for a while. I would be really interested in a doing a several day tour the next time we go.

We really enjoyed the Phang Nga Bay self-kayaking tour. All the tours are in small groups, which really makes the experience more personalized and relaxed. We were picked up from our hotel on time, then dropped off at the speedboat ferry station. Then we took a 30 minute speedboat ferry ride to a spot where we met up with our guide. Our guide then took us on a 30 minute private longtail ride to the kayaking starting point. We then kayaked for maybe 3-4 hours with a few beach breaks for swimming and relaxing, and a lunch break where we ate the delicious cashew nut chicken, rice & veggies meal that had been packed for us as part of the tour. What was unique about this experience was that we hardly ever saw other tourists anywhere we went! While everyone crowded to the James Bond Island, we had the two islands we kayaked around to ourselves! Our guide actually apologized when we ran into a single other tourist group lol.
I recommend this experience – definitely worth the price. The transportation was well-organized, our guide Run was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the booking process was easy. The views were incredible, and we even managed to get a little workout it with the kayaking. What attracted us to Paddleasia for this experience was that we wanted to paddle ourselves – a lot of the other tour companies have someone doing the paddling for you! We were very pleased with this tour.

Family of 3 booked day tour. Very prompt replies with all emails. Driven to wharf (45mins) to catch a ferry (30mins) then a long boat (45mins) to the bay. Loved the uniquness of this rather than just sitting on a tourist cruise boat to get there. Our guide Run was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about his job and the environment. Kayaking was so peaceful with fish and bird spotting along the way. Swam and lunched in a beautiful lagoon area which we never wanted to leave. It is certainly a beautiful part of the world and we definitely recommend Paddleasia to show it to you. Thank you Dave and Run for a very special day whilst in Phuket.

Thank you very much for coming with us! Thanks also for detailing what you liked... we love reading this. 😊
It does take a little while to get to the far NE corner of the bay, but it's worth it.
Do keep in touch. We'd love to show you more.
All the best,
Dave, Run, & team

We just completed a two night, three day paddling trip in Phang Nga Bay with Khun Run and his team. The three of us are experienced paddlers and backpackers, and we had an absolutely wonderful time! The food was very good thanks to Chef Bun. The kayaks and gear were comfortable, and we had a longtail and a small zodiac chase boat for safety. We were very happy to support the local team from Koh Yao Noi, rather than an outside organization. The team was very conscious of limiting plastic use and picking up any trash they encountered.
But all this is just irrelevant. Khun Run knows every inch of the region and it was absolutely breathtaking. Each day we felt could never top the last. Beautiful water and swimming, incredible cliffs, magical hongs, excellent paddling, we had a blast!
Camping just made the whole experience that much more immersive. That said, facilities are necessarily primitive, so one must expect both the luxury of being waited on hand and foot, and also very basic camping accomodations and bathroom facilities. If that is not your style, then I am sure the three day trip with hotel accommodations is "almost" as good :).

A belated thanks for coming with us and for the detailed/accurate description. Yes, camping is very different from the bungalow option on our adventures. Both are nice in their own way.
Take care and keep in touch.
All the best,

For anyone wanting to self-paddle a kayak in Phang Nga Bay, I can't recommend a better way of doing it than with Paddle Asia. The scenery is out of this world, without a doubt one of the most beautiful vistas I've seen anywhere on my travels. And making things even better is the fact you get to do it far from the maddening crowds in the north-east corner of the Bay. I did a two day trip with Run and am really pleased I took this option, as one day isn't enough to appreciate the stunning beauty of the Bay and its many isles. The overnight stay in a village on the island of Koh Yao Noi was also really pleasant.

Thanks a lot for coming with us and for explaining that a day isn't really enough. I mean, if that's all the time you've got, then it is what it is, but the bay is worth as much time as you can spare.
We hope to see you again one of these days. We've still got plenty to show you.
All the best,

I'm so glad we found Paddle Asia. Firstly Dave was very accommodating in finding us a day tour that fit in with our limited time in the area, and communication was great throughout. The tour itself was magical. You're promised quiet but we didn't actually see another tour group the entire day. In fact we didn't really even see any other people, just fishermen quietly working in the distance! The serenity of kayaking in this part of the bay will stay with me, as will the memories of the stunning karsts, hidden beaches and wildlife. Our guide, Mr. Man, made it feel like he was sharing local secrets with us (both places and knowledge). I highly recommend this trip, and this friendly company.

Paddle Asia did a great job leading our family on a two-day paddle trip. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable and able. The locations were quiet, world class spots accessible just by kayak. The food was very tasty and bountiful. Our overnight on a small island at a quaint resort was a welcome contrast from the bustle of Phuket. Hard to ask for much more.

Yes, it's quite amazing that this amount of serenity is within easy striking distance of Phuket.

Is there any tour option that can pick us from the hotel on yao yai island?
Written 7 October 2023
Hello. We are a party of between 4 and 6 (depending on how many want to kayak).
We will be traveling on the Princess Sapphire cruise ship which will get into Phuket at 8AM and the. Departing at 5PM. I wonder if it would be possible, considering the time restriction, to do a kayaking and swimming tour of the Phang Nga Bay.
Is there a way that you could arrange a tour with us that would work between these times and get us back to the cruise ship on time?
Thank you,
Robert Gould
