This was a fantastic way to experience Pico Island with 3 couples. Filipe was a fabulous guide. He was knowledgeable about the history of the island, food and wine. These Canadians highly recommend!

This was one of the most enjoyable wine tours that I have ever done (and I have done quite a few!) - a full day excursion, learning about the history of the island and wine production on Pico, tasting some delicious wines as well local brandy and liqueurs, and getting a mini island tour. The spectacular traditional lunch was a particular highlight! Overall, the itinerary was very well thought out well paced. Filipe was a truly excellent guide, very knowledgeable about Pico (and the Azores more generally) and looked after us exceptionally well. Highly recommend, an absolute must do.

An excellent tour! We spend the day exploring the north and west coast of the island, with an delicious stop for lunch at a local Azorean food spot, and one stop in the morning for a liqueur and brandy tasting and a stop in the late afternoon for a wine tasting. The rest of the day was filled with excellent views and stops at lookout points and our guide was great! He was knowledgeable of the rich history of the island’s wine culture and a great conversationalist. Overall this tour was well worth it!

We are so glad we booked this food and wine tour. The day FLEW by, we were so engrossed in the views and the information and of course the tastes of Pico Island. This tour made us wish we could stay longer in Pico and Azores.

My 3 friends and I had a wonderful day on our tour, even with intermittent rain showers. Every stop on the tour was well-planned. Filipe worked around the rain and we were still able to see and do everything on our itinerary. The wineries and lunch were yummy. This was not my first visit to Pico but I learned so much about the history and winemaking practices. I highly recommend this tour for a relaxed but jam-packed day.

Felipe was a fantastic guide! He explained a lot of the history of Pico Island and the Azores, and he showed us some wonderful sites we wouldn’t have seen without a guide. He worked to accommodate our group really well. Not mentioned in the description, but the lunch, at a popular local restaurant, was vegan (and gluten free) friendly.

Filip at Terralta was a great tour guide. A wealth of information and knowledgeable about Pico and the Azores. A group of 6 filled his old Range Rover. We could not get up to see the lagoons bc it was too cloudy so his plan B was to sample rum at a rum shop, which was impressive. There’s an Azores app that has mounted cameras throughout points of interest on the island. It’s better to see those cameras rather than driving 2 hrs to see nothing but clouds n rain….so we opted for rum. Buffet lunch at Taberna Pestico I think. Dinner there is yummy tapas. Did the lava tube, which was cool. Drove through the vineyards and walked around and a lot of history was explained and got a real understanding of the Azores. You never know what the Atlantic weather will bring, so you just go with it n make the best of it. So don’t get upset.

Very nice, experienced and friendly guide. History of the island, the wine culture and unique places were shown and described perfectly. The time with Filipe is very well spent and we would recommend it to anyone who visits Pico Island!

The tour from Felippe was nice, he showed us the vineyards and some nice local spots on the island we would have never visited otherwise. He knew a lot a out the island and everything on it. We even stopped at his mothers place to try real homemade Azorean liqour! However, the tour was a bit long for our taste and there were a few stops that felt a bit unnecessary.

Excellent tour of history, heritage, and food and wine. We didn’t know what to expect as we had never done an organized tour before, but we were really pleased with the pacing of information, experiences, and sights. Fully recommend this tour and would go on it again. Our guide was welcoming, very knowledgeable, and really shared a slice of life in the Azores we would not have experienced otherwise.

Fantastic all-day tour of Pico! It included wine and brandy tasting, but also so much more! Felipe was a wonderful expert tour guide who provided fascinating information and answered all our questions. We highly recommend!!

Although our ferry from Faial arrived in Pico after the start time of our tour, Filipe and the rest of our tour group patiently waited for us. We set off on a truly wondrous trip along the north coast of Pico heading toward a brandy and liquor distillery. Along the way, Filipe stopped to show us new and abandoned vineyards, picturesque views, and told us all about the unique heritage of making wine and living on the quiet island of Pico. After the brandy distillery, Filipe took us to a delicious lunch, owned and operated by a local family in Madalena. Then we set off again to see some breath taking sights, and to experience more sights, smells and tastes of Pico before arriving at a winery just outside Madalena. To finish our day tour, Filipe took us to a beautiful village, barely touched by humans except for a 400 year old windmill. This windmill, sitting between the Atlantic ocean and the base of Mount Pico, seemed to guard the beautiful traditions of Pico life. Obrigado Filipe!!

What a fantastic experience we had! If you are looking for a genuine experience of Pico, do not hesitate! Your guide Felipe shows you the gems of the island. You discover places, taste delicious food and hear stories you would never experience when you travel just by yourself. We did the tour with our 11 year old son who enjoyed it as much as we did! Value for money!

Great experience. Short visit and hike at the very peculiar and magical vineyards of Pico, followed by a very good dinner with products from the Island. It was super diverse and included cheeses, octopus, local shells, local sausages, steak, local bean stew, etc. The included wine was also a nice wine from Pico. Filipe was with us through the dinner and had lots of super interesting informations and anecdotes.
