Amazing experience. The lodge has excellent accommodation and given how interior it is surprised to find Wi-Fi . The cooks prepared amazing vegan food for us and one of the best value for money Special mention to Robert Vaca for setting this tour and also helping to get overnight bus tickets from Quito to Coca in an excellent bus which was safe and very comfortable with climate control. They were on time in the meeting point and provided the tour as promised . Overall a 5 star experience with fraction of price compared to other tours.. Same activities as others , so try it out Special shout out to Marco our guide who spent the entire time with us on jungle walks , night walks , parrot clay lick , canopy walks , bird watching and money trailing . Caiman sighting in the night was fun activity. My teenage son loved every minute we spent here and kudos to Robert Vaca ,Bill, Marco and kitchen staff for the wonderful experience

      Outstanding Experience
Our trip to the Amazon and the Pilche Lodge was wonderful and we all very much enjoyed it. Diego was a great guide, amazingly good at spotting wildlife and a great advocate for the rain forest. Christian was very helpful and patient. We saw a good variety of wildlife including 5 species of monkeys, tree frogs, many different kinds of parrots including macaws and a ton of exotic birds. The food was fantastic. We really liked that all the meals were made from scratch with fresh local ingredients. We especially enjoyed the homeade soups and fresh fruit juices. We also very much enjoyed spending time in the Pilche community and being able to experience their way of life. This trip was in a very remote area with limited modern day ammenities yet we always felt safe and comfortable. Amazon Wildlife Tours was also able to arrange a driver for us back to Quito. The driver was excellent and got us back directly to our hotel safely.

      Great Experience exploring jungles
We had great experience while doing a 4day-3night jungle tour. Everything was sharp on time and the guys were very good with organizing all the logistics around our coming from Quito and going back. Our guide was from a local community with extensive knowledge of the local wildlife and a biology degree and spoke English very good (apparently, he used to study in the States for some time). Something I would do differently: pick a tour that takes you deeper into the jungles (like their Dolphin tour, for example) as animals around Coca are wary of people and trying to avoid us. We still managed to see spider monkeys nevertheless. Also, the experience will depend on your guide a lot. We were lucky in our case. But even speaking good English is not too common over there.

It was our first visit in a rainforest and it was super interesting to experience the different flora and fauna. Even though we had two days of rain we could see some monkeys, insects and birds. The guide tried to change the plans according to the weather conditions.
The Lodge is situated very nice and you could listen to the rain and the animals while you stayed in your bed. Additionally most of the time we where the only guests there. (The first night we stood there with another small group.)
But in general you should know that the group often consists of just your party size. That is what we did not know before - so if you’re considering meeting new people at this tour you cannot be sure when booking. But be sure for seeing animals it might be better!
Also the meals where super delicious and there was always juice at the table.
The guide was friendly and when we asked him, he told us a lot about the jungle and the animals.
You should know that there might be some extra costs you have to pay. The guide always asked us if we want to do this activity and how much we would have to pay additionally (the tower, the bus ticket, history tour at a community). And you have to pay everything in cash - therefore take enough money with you.

All in all enjoy the time and get away of your daily business for a few days! 🙃

We booked our 4 days / three nights Amazonas Tour in Yasuní National Park with “Amazon Wildlife Tours”. All in all, we enjoyed the tour, even though it was raining quite a lot during the first two days. However, we didn’t like a couple of things (therefore only 3 stars):

First, 3 different activities had to be cancelled (one because of rain which is completely understandable, one because of lack of communication among the organizers and local people to pick us up and one because no one was there when we arrived) and NO other alternative activities were offered. This was pretty bad for us, especially considering the fact that the tour was much more costly in comparison to tours in Cuyabeno National Park and for that reason we wanted to make the best out of the activities.

Second thing were the activities at additional cost (10$ for the Kichwa culture and 20$ for the parrot clay licks). We spent only 10 minutes at the Kichwa community and only exchanged a couple of words with a local teacher at the school. In the parrot clay there were no birds and the local site supervisor told us that in this season birds are rarely coming there. I think that the guide should have such an information and “warn” us about it, so we can decide whether or not to go there and pay for it. It would be fine for us to do another activity that is aligned with the season instead if we had the choice.

Third, during the Pilche community visit (which was included in the price) we had almost no interaction with the people from the community itself, we were just served the “maito” fish as in a regular restaurant. Then we were accompanied by our guide through their medicinal garden. When we addressed it later that day, our guide offered us to make a basket and crowns out of palm trees at our lodge. This was a fun activity and at least we had a bit of a cultural demonstration.

The positive aspects: all the staff was very nice, and the guide was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Food was very good, and they considered my vegetarian preferences. The Cabaña we slept in was basic but comfortable. The walks through the jungle, especially the night walk, piranha fishing and bird and monkey watching on the sunny days were fun. They also organized us bus tickets and taxi to the bus station from our hotel in Quito.

Thank you for your appreciation of this trip. In the Amazon we have rainy seasons and very sunny seasons, however, the fact that the Amazon is very close to the Andes , its climate throughout the year cannot be marked as a season. Rainy or dry season like the Amazon of Ecuador, their appreciation is more a lack of knowledge about it Regarding the Cost, it seems that in the same way you should have consulted several options that are on most of the website, so we also have options in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve and we understand that for some particular reason you decided for this trip, although in the end for your appreciation some activities were not correct We will be available to correct what has gone wrong and Thank you for your collaboration so we can talk with the people who made this trip to the Ecuadorian Amazon possible.

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
