Memorable and interesting
Jul 2019
We have been to both places on many occasions. The Drogarati cave is my daughter’s favourite place in Kefalonia. To enter the cave and lake can take a while occasionally if the tourist coaches are unloading their tourists. The cave is not disable friendly, however expect they would manage the situation with a bit of effort on their part. The lake is good and tip the boat rower during the lap of the lake. The rower will typically take lots of pictures for you if asked.

Great place to visit and we booked with Avalon Travel and the service was great, very professional
Oct 2019
We were there on a cruise at the end of October 2019 and we were amazingly surprised with that excursion. As soon as we get off the cruise ship, we walk in town to Avalon Travel. Very sympathetic people and clean place. The trip by bus is a little long but it worth it, especially for the Messinali cave. The color of the water is amazing and boarded in a small boat to go around that small underground lake. Our guide was nice and funny and explain to us everything that we needed to know about the place. As for the second part of the trip ( Dragorati cave ) is not as impressive. It's the kind of cave that we can see pretty much everywhere in the world.

We did both of the caves melissani is a beautiful cave on which you take a trip across the lake in a boat we then did then onto the drogarati caves which is amazing but be aware the steps here are very steep going down wasn't to bad but coming back up was quite exhausting although there is a seat halfway up both these trips get very busy and often quite a queue but they are worth the wait we were fortunate to get to both early and beat the other busses

Harrowing bus ride
Oct 2019
This was the last stop on our cruise. Our friends picked this because I don't think there is very much to do on this island. We were in a full size coach bus. The roads are not made for these vehicles. If I had known what the drive was going to be like, I would have had a shot of something! Our bus driver was nuts. He was passing another full size bus on the side of a mountain going uphill in a no passing zone! The walk down into the cave and the boat ride inside was nice. We stopped at a small road side store, got some sandwiches and beer to take to the beach. Just when you think the roads can't get any scarier, the road down to the beach was very frightening. Thee was a narrow left turn. the bus driver couldn't make the turn, so stopped and it looked like we were going over the side. When he put it in reverse, we lurched a little forward because he had a stick shift vehicle. The lake was beautiful! Luckily we took a different road back to port and wasn't as bad.

Worth the trip
Oct 2019
The lake was stunning and the caves were also worth visiting. We were only in Kefalonia for one day from a cruise ship and this was a great way to see some of the island and also didn't take up our whole day.

Great extra holiday highlight
Oct 2019
The Drogarati Cave is a long walk down steps to the massive cavern with S/mites and tites and a guide keen to explain details of the geological formations.
The Melissani Cave is a short walk down to a boat which rows you across the water filled cavern and when the sun is high (11.00-14.00) the light falls through the hole where the roof collapsed some thousands of years ago and the boats almost have the illusion of floating about the crystal clear water. Definitely worth a visit on your way to Sami and Antisammos.

Beautiful
Aug 2019
Melissani lake is a must see! It is beautiful. Although the wait is long and the tour on the boat is short, it is the only way to see it and is well worth it. Our tour guide was very informative and educated us about the island and it's history during our buss rides there and back.

We took this tour during a stop on our cruise ship. The company is waiting at the cruise port with an easy identifiable sign. Their office is just a few minute walk from the cruise port. The entire process was easy and hassle free.

Thank You Maria!
We booked this excursion through our travel agent in Canada, and we were worried that we should have booked through our cruise ship (mostly to make sure we didn’t get left behind)

We were pleasantly surprised at how well run this tour group was.. our guide Maria was fantastic. When we exited the ship, a representative met us at the dock along with the some of the other passengers that had booked and we were directed to the office which was 5 mins away on foot. After signing in, we had a bit of time so we were given directions to walk to see the sea turtles being fed - a 10 min walk and our son got to see some pretty amazing turtles in the sea. We returned to the office after picking up a few souvenirs and we were loaded onto a bus where our fantastic guide, Maria and driver Vasilis drove us to the Lake and Caves. Our worries were gone as soon as she explained that they always make sure to get their guests back to the ship on time. In fact, we arrived at the Lake before the cruise ship groups and we got back before them as well!

Very highly recommended!
