Adrian was our tour guide and did an excellent job. So informative. We learned about the local birds and the boat brought us up close and personal with the crocodiles. Touched “Mike Tyson’s” tale. Highly recommend this tour.

The tour was great, the guys there were uber nice (they even picked us up in Tarcoles since we had no car and had mistaken the tour place and the office). We saw a lot of birds and of course, crocs, and felt safe every time during the tour. We strongly recommend!

Our guide, Juan Carlos, was outstanding! It was obvious he was there to please us as he told our group about the fauna, flora, and ecology of the Tarcoles region. He knew the river well and pointed out numerous crocodiles, both large and small, and his keen eyes spotted many birds and plants that interested us. He was very patient if we wanted to get more quality photos of any particular bird species, and was ready with habitat and life history information on the various species we encountered. The lady at the ticket counter was extremely gracious as we checked in for our tour, and later as we bought some souvenirs. The rest rooms were very clean, and the little restaurant served excellent meals as well. Overall, it was very evident that this facility was well-run by very caring and professional hosts. We were very impressed by the entire organization and cleanly facility!

What a great day on the river. Our boat captain did a wonderful job accommodating an entire photography group who wanted to take a million pictures of everything. Found lots of birds and of course crocodiles. We also saw Jesus Christ lizards. There was a flock of scarlet macaws after we finished. The lunch was outstanding. Super fun day and got tons of life birds for my list

Very enjoyable place! The tour guide was knowledgeable about the birds on a very pleasant calm boat ride. I also liked the large gift shop with many toilets available. I tried a free sample of delicious Costa Rican coffee while watching dancers perform.

The Tarcoles River is a great place to see lots of wildlife, and the knowledgeable guides at Jungle Crocodile Safari will make sure you see all of it!

The whole family enjoyed this river cruise. Just remember, seeing crocodiles isn't guaranteed. We loved our guide and driver. The gift shop felt a little too over-the-top and some of the items were quite expensive.

One reviewer said it earlier...lots of birds and a few (small) crocs. It was an enjoyable tour and we saw in interesting species.....just wish we could have photographed some close, large crocs.

Had a great time, very relaxing views of tons of different birds plus a few crocs. Plus short ride up into mangroves. Very beautiful and overall a nice trip!

We had a great birding safari! We were lucky to get a private tour, allowing us to focus in our interests. Hanzel our guide was great! Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the wildlife. Would definitely recommend going with Hanzel. A worthwhile tour if you're in the area!

We stopped here on our journey from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio. Lunch was lovely and then we boarded a boat. There were two crocodiles next to the jetty and we spent a while watching them. Then we went up and down the river looking for more crocs and the most amazing birdlife. Very peaceful. It was Christmas Eve and very quiet!

I've tried multiple boats in Tarcoles and Jungle Crocodile Safari is by far the best for finding and photographing birds! I've been on the river 8 times now and usually photograph 30 or more species of birds!

We did a tour in the afternoon and we felt like we had the river to ourselves. We saw plenty of crocodiles both in the river and in the bank. We even saw monkeys which was an added bonus. The real stars of the show though were the birds. Our guide was really knowledgeable and I do mean that. When their knowledge extends not simply to naming birds but telling you about their biology you know you are in good hands! I had seen reports of feeding of crocodiles so I had been worried that this may feel like a zoo experience but that was not at all the case. This was a calm nature tour and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

It’s a shame that such an enjoyable tour us remembered for an expensive gift shop but it’s a captive audience and they take advantage of it. The tour in the boat was great fun with lots of birds and, as hoped, a couple of crocodiles to make the tour complete. Very knowledgable guide who pointed out the interesting aspects on the nearby river banks and river. Very enjoyable ‘safari’.

We have done this tour many times and keep sending family and friends and joining them when we can. Always fun.
