- lnbh160 contributionsExcellent day tour!Hassan was an excellent guide for our day tour. Interesting to visit Bethany Baptism Jordan River and As Salt as these were not a part of our larger organized tour. As Salt seems unknown as a UNESCO location and it was fascinating. Lunch was included and was very good. Thank you Hassan.Written 15 March 2025
- deckchairtraveller0 contributionsFantastic guide (Hassan), excellent tour of Citadel n' a great local lunch.I had 4 days in Jordan n' with full-day tours of Petra and Jerash/Dead Sea already booked (see separate T/A reviews), wanted to see the Citadel, Roman Theatre in Amman but after hiking Petra, thought my ol'legs would give out, so booked this day tour of Citadel (Umayyad Palace), Roman Theatre a few other sights n' "local" lunch. My guide (Hassan Alqurnih) was excellent; a truly local man, most knowledgeable of local history n' culture and quite flexible with my options. After an extensive Citadel tour, did Rainbow St by car and the "Embassy" area, then Hassan look me to his own personal eating spot (.......I asked for it). Perfect tour, guide and options. Fantastic !!Written 1 March 2025
- JohnsJournal0 contributionsHistorical and Scenic Beauty at Mukawir and Mount NeboDuring our time in Jordan, we visited Mukawir (Machaerus) and Mount Nebo, two sites rich in history and breathtaking views. Mukawir, the site of Herod Antipas’ fortress, is famous for being the location where John the Baptist was imprisoned and executed. Our visit was especially memorable because we had the site entirely to ourselves, adding to its mystique. The hike up to the ruins was rewarding, offering panoramic views of the Dead Sea and surrounding landscapes. Though little remains of the fortress beyond its foundations, standing atop the hill and imagining its historical significance was an incredible experience. Mount Nebo, a short drive from Madaba, holds deep biblical significance as the place where Moses viewed the Promised Land before his death. The highlight here was the Memorial Church of Moses, which features stunning Byzantine mosaics dating back to the 6th century. The Brazen Serpent Sculpture, symbolizing Moses’ staff, is another striking feature. However, the most breathtaking aspect was the panoramic view from the summit, which stretched across the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and, on a clear day, Jerusalem. The peaceful and well-preserved site made for a moving and contemplative visit. Both locations offer unique historical insights and spectacular scenery, making them worthwhile stops for those interested in Jordan’s rich past. While Mukawir is more remote and requires a bit of a climb, it provides a more off-the-beaten-path experience. In contrast, Mount Nebo is easily accessible and ideal for both religious pilgrims and history enthusiasts. If you're visiting Madaba or traveling along the King’s Highway, both sites are must-visit destinations for their history, spirituality, and unforgettable views. This tour also included a trip to St. George's Church, which we planned to visit on another day. We asked our driver, Basel, if we could see something else instead. Basel was very accommodating recommending that we visit the Shrine of the Beheading of John the Baptist. It proved to be an extraordinary visit and one that I would recommend over St. George's. While the latter has the famous historical mosaic map of the Holy Land, John the Baptist features an ancient acropolis and Moabite Well. Both were interesting. Basel was exceptional.Written 11 February 2025
- amanim6640 contributionsSENSATIONAL!!! Not to be missedThis was a superb trip-- very well organized. Booking was a breeze and the travel agent was prompt and worked with us to deliver an outstanding experience. We ended up switching to seeing the Dead Sea first then going to Petra so we can take advantage of Petra by Night which is only offered in limited nights and they were so accommodating. We also upgraded to the Kempinski hotel in the Dead Sea (A MUST) and the tour agency made it happen. We were three friends travelling from North America ( all professional women) and this trip has to be one of our favorite to date. From the moment we landed until we left we were taken care of as of family-- Sami our driver was exceptional in his care and expertise. Even taking us to hidden gems for shopping for authentic Jordanian goods. We even managed to sneak in a quick Wadi Rum tour the morning before we left and he took care of everything for us. Mahdi our tour guide in Petra was simply superb: knowledgeable, warm and made sure we had the best experience and photos. We went up the Monastary on mules which he arranged for us as well as the shuttle back. It was honestly just an exceptional trip. The views were incredible, landscapes breathtaking and history remarkable but more than anything it's the quality of the warm Jordanian people we encountered everywhere. We felt to safe and loved and cared for. And the food was so so good! Thank you for a most memorable trip. Highly recommend and we will be sure to tell anyone visiting that this is not to be missed. We only wish we were there longer!! Can't wait to return with our families 💓Written 3 February 2025

- Juanon700 contributionsJust OKGot the 4* package with an upgrade at 1 hotel in Wadi Rum. The first hotel in Petra was an extremely basic 3*, so not a great start. Also, given the starting time (pick up in Amman at 9:00), we had very limited time to visit Petra and the guide that was included just stayed with us 3 hours, while the visit is supposed to last 4 to 5 hours. The Wadi Rum part went very well. Aqaba was included in the pack but wasn't worth it, as its not the right time of the year to go, it was too cold; we would have appreciated some comment/advice from the agency in this regard, to maybe replace it with a visit to Madaba. Dead Sea was good. The driver (Sami) that was with us during the complete trip was excellent.Written 5 January 2025
