Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really interesting and enjoyable visit. Sharlene took us on a tour of the garden and as well as the wonderful olfactory experience we learned a thing or two as well!

We visited the spice garden as part of a cruise ship tour.
Our guide was very friendly & knowledgeable; we learned a lot about the various herbs & spices growing in this well maintained garden.

Delightful and informative visit with Hazel Ann as our guide. Tasted all sort of peppers, berries, cocoa and a range of herbs and spices. Saw how cinnamon bark is stripped from dried branches. Well worth a visit to learn about the spice isle bounty!

We visited on Monday 18th Dec 2023. The garden itself was not bad. Our guide was very unfriendly. She would not pause to let us ask questions and felt irritated if we did. She just went through the motions like a robot. I do not give bad reviews but I had to this time. I am assuming because we were black tourists from the Caribbean. We did not enjoy the experience.

This was part of a tour of the island. I was familiar with most of the herbs and their uses so was disappointed that tour focused on that to the exclusion of discussing the effect of Caribbean weather and soil on agriculture.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We had a full tour of the gardens and got to try raw cacao, smell the fresh herbs like cinnamon bark, rosemary, bay leaf, etc.
A very educational and informative visit. We found it very interesting.
The toilets need a bit of a makeover as there were only 2 cubicles and 2 urinals (one toilet wouldn’t flush) so obviously big timely queues happened.
The shop was stocked well but expensive.

Guided tour round the herb garden on paths of broken nutmeg shells. Sometimes it good to look at your feet aswell as the sides. We also came across one of the first rainy season beatles making a racket.
All the spices are much stronger than the ones in the UK.

Great experience to see how all the herbs and spices grow, and to taste and smell everything. Great tour and a nice gift shop with spices produced on site, plus Grenadian chocolate.

We are going to Grenada next week on a cruise and we’re thinking of booking this excursion. How easy is it to go yourself by taxi etc or are we better booking via the ship? Is the gist much different?

We booked this through a tour company in Grenada, St James Travel and Tours. The tour took us to the Herb and Spice garden, Gem Rose Eden flower garden and La Grenade nutmeg jam and jelly making factory. A full afternoon travel around the lower end of the island. My view would be that this is s wonderful place to visit but to travel just to the herb garden and back would be too small a trip, but being part of a multi site visit made it a much better prospect.

Is mace a spice and what is it used in? Thanks, Chris

Yes mace is a spice from the outer covering of the nutmeg seed. It can be used in sweet & savory dishes & is used in Indian food a lot.

Hi, What's the easiest way to get to Laura's from a cruise that arrives in St. Georges? Is there a cab or bus? And given that a cruise is in, should we plan on a particular time to avoid crowds?
