This is one of the few reputable animal rescues in the area, and they're doing great work. They educate - travelers and locals - about the manatees and the crucial part they play in the ecosystem. They're working to eliminate manatee hunting and other destructive...More

Nice rescue centre where you can learn a lot about Amazon animals. I love that the monkeys can run around the whole park when they close to the public so they can play together.

On the outskirts of town, this place is educational about local wildlife and the challenges they face to rehabilitate and release back into their natural habitat. Took a mototaxi there for around s/20 and took about 20-30 minutes from plaza del Armas

Very enjoyable and educational visit, they have a lot of rescue animals, not just manatee and they explain the re-wilding process for each of them. Really committed caring people, many voluntary, and the manatee are of course the cutest creatures imaginable. You can’t touch them...More

It will take you 30 minutes aprox to get to the Amazon rescue center from plaza de armas. You can spend an hour in a good guided tour and by doing this you are supporting this project. I recommend you to visit.

It is a rescue center and tries to ensure animals are returned to their natural habitat when recovered.

You could tell how much they love the animals. The bond between some of them and the people taking care of them was amazing and the way they treat and give their time for the animals that need it so much is heart warming.

This is a great place to see manatee and other indigenous Peruvian birds, reptiles and mammals. It is really good to see such dedication to wild life that is really making a difference.

It would be better to contact the centre direct. I did not ask but like most places relying on volunteers, I am sure they always need someone.

We had sloths at the centre but we did not hold them and would not have been allowed to. We found out that sloths find being held very stressfull so we just enjoyed watching them.

You can arrange a tour, via a tour company, but I just took a tuk-tuk. It was $20/soles, each way and the driver waited for me. (They're good about doing that, if you want them to) There are guides there, which are included... More
