Top ways to experience The Dubai Fountain
The area
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

- EllorVienna, Austria4 contributionsamazingThe Dubai Fountain is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Dubai. The fountain is located in the heart of downtown Dubai, and is the world's largest choreographed fountain system. The water dances to music, and the display is absolutely mesmerizing. The fountain operates in the evening and the water can shoot up to a height of 150 meters, providing a stunning view of the surrounding area. It's a great place to spend an evening with family or friends, and it's free to watch the show. Overall, the Dubai Fountain is a truly spectacular display of technology and artistry that is not to be missed.Visited March 2023Written 19 March 2023
- AmreenK109Rossendale, United Kingdom59 contributionsReally nice experienceAbsolutely beautiful. Its also free (although we went on a small boat so we could be closer to the action). the best time to see it is very late evening after dusk, as the lights of the Fountain are combined with the lights from the surrounding buildingsVisited February 2023Written 1 April 2023
- ramkhallagram23Bayside, New York22 contributionsBest Overall Thing to Do in Dubai, No QuestionIn my opinion, this is the single best thing to do in Dubai. It's mesmerizing. There's nothing else in the world like it on this scale. When the Burj Khalifa light show and the fountains are going at the same time, you literally cannot stop looking. You can easily stay and watch like 4 shows in a row and you wouldn't get tired of it. I've read a lot of reviews say it get crowded. I didn't really feel that way. The bridge probably does, but the area is so big and well laid out you can see it from anywhere and, to me, it doesn't really feel crowded. I made a video with some good footage of when the Burj Khalifa light show and the Fountain show are going at the same time. Search "Top Paid and Top Free Thing to Do in Dubai" on Youtube and it's the video from the Unputdownable channel. Spoiler alert, this fountain show is my Top Free Thing to Do in Dubai and you'll see why.Visited March 2023Written 2 April 2023
- Fortune_MadhukuHarare Province, Zimbabwe462 contributionsSpectacularWonderful water displays in sync with great background music. Very popular with tourists and the place often gets crowded. The most spectacular shows happen in the evening when lights from surrounding buildings illuminate the place, making the display a marvel to watch. A good way to wrap up the Dubai Mall visit before heading back to your hotel. This is one place where you can see thousands of smiles 😊😊😊Visited March 2023Written 6 April 2023
- Tony EliasDubai, United Arab Emirates3 contributionsFascinatingThe show is really captivating with the water movements synchronized to the played background music. Remember to arrive ahead of time from the show so you can reserve a nice viewing point for yourself! Every 30 minutes there's a new show starting and each show is different from the other.Visited October 2022Written 7 April 2023
- Gary EllisHalifax, United Kingdom114 contributionsAbsolutely SpectacularThis is one of the most spectacular and amazing displays we’ve ever seen. The Burj Khalifa lit up and changing colours with the fountains/water display erupting around us while travelling around the lake in a boat. Definitely not to be missed if visiting Dubai.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2023
- ANAND KSingapore, Singapore200 contributionsFabulous, UnforgettableThis is a MUST SEE in Dubai. Do not miss it under any circumstance. The fountains, the atmosphere and the crowds and the songs they play - they all gel well into a really great treat for the eyes. Go at dusk, and see the golden sun peep through the Burj Khalifa and see the fountain show take off and then into the night is a totally different experience. Dine at one of the several restaurants along the side and you watch the fountain go up and down and make waves.. truly spectacular and unforgettable.Visited March 2023Written 8 April 2023
- André De SousaLondon, United Kingdom12 contributionsBest Out Of Charge ExperienceWhat a show! Out of charge experience highly recommendable at night. It’s incredible the coordination of the water sprinklers. The water show happens every 30 min intercalated with the every 30 min light show.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 April 2023
- Janice B1 contributionVery good but buy tickets locally.Excellent production, very well organized. Don't buy tickets on line, we paid AUD $38 for 2 tickets and found the price to buy on site was only 40 Durham for 2 which is $18 AUD. We felt a bit ripped off.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 April 2023
- SaichinnaUnited Kingdom41 contributionsA must watch in Dubai, it’s beautifulLoved the ambience around it, loved seeing water dancing to music. You can watch it every half hour. If there is lot of cord, you could wait for next show and find yourself good spot. It’s just beautiful atmosphere with dancing fountains, music and light show on Burj Khalifa all together. It’s for free, so you can watch as much as you like. A must see in Dubai. Also adds to your memories while watching having dinner in nearby restaurants with fountain views.Visited April 2023Written 13 April 2023

Terrible experience, totally disorganised, supposed to start at 6.45, nothing happened until 7.30. No information, they lost the key to the gate so people had to squeeze between the kiosk and the railings. Absolute waste of money. Did not even go on the boat we were so disappointed.

The Dubai Fountain is a must at night. Encircled by the Burg Khalifa and many tall buildings all lit up with white lights. Just simply amazing.

One of my best experiences so far. Loved the music and the atmosphere. I watched the show from a restaurant's balcony and the view was breathtaking. The fountain, burj kalifa and the lights created a special feeling. ❤️ you can see the show during the day and at night. U can see it for free if u go to the mall and walk all the way out to the bridge overlooking the fountain. It goes in intervals and u have to wait for it.

The fountain show brings a cool breeze in the middle of the summers when it takes place. It's lighting is beautiful and the show on the Burj Khalifa is magnificient. THe waves go as tall as 180 feet. Recommend to grab a spot with a good view before the show as it gets crowded quickly.

Evening show takes place each 1/2 hour, duration of ca 5 minutes or similar. It might be very crowdy if you coming just from mall exit, so try to go further if looking for nice picture spot. Nice to watch if you at mall the same time or combaining with mall visit, otherwise doesn't deserve special arrival only for fountain show.

It has been a wonderful experience, seeing the fountain show from above, engaging music, colours, coordination… Top!!!
It’s also good that there are plenty and constant during the day so you really can’t miss it!

Pretty, Modern, Beautiful. But it was not very authentic. I think, meanwhile it was beautiful with great music, I did not feel great calmness with it.

We had taken tickets with access to a special platform in the fountain itself. It's not a bad show, but I've seen better ones in Las Vegas and in Singapore. The fountain itself isn't as big as you'd expect. However, the light show on the tower is very impressive.

Добрый день. Возможен ли осмотр достопримечательностей города хотя бы вечернее время в августе? Читала, что жара в это время года ужасная и не спадает даже вечером.Или лучше перенести время визита на другой месяц? Спасибо.

It's free. There is no requirement for a ticket and you can view the fountains from a number of different areas. It can also be viewed from viewing areas within Dubai mall but I recommend getting outside and viewing it from one of the outside areas
