- Raman GNoida, India309 contributionsAnother must visitWhen around BHU campus, this is nearby. Cameras and purse not allowed inside. Left the items in the car. So no photos to upload by me. The parking for cars is limited space ( ample for 2 wheelers ), so can get tricky if you do not have a driver. The place definitely needs better maintenance and managing crowds. Took Darshan from a distance as it was crowded and no line management. We went in the late afternoon.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 August 2023

Camera not allowed and it will be better to have the Prasad from inside the temple after getting the slip. Inside the temple premise there is another temple of Lord Ram. Beautiful Hanuman temple in Varanasi established by Sant Tulsi Das. The idol is unique and beautiful. The temple is serene. Large numbers of devotees visit the temple everyday.

The sankat mochan hanuman temple i one of those temple which is very sacred. It is that temple where Tulsi das ji wrote Hanuman Chalisa. It is also believed that, Silver comes from the ground naturally. You can spot some of the silver on the black tiles around the temple which you are walking or doing prakaram or pradakshina. There is also a very old tree which stands still and you don't wan to miss that. After the terrorist attack on the temple, no electronical items like mobile phones, smart watches are allowed. You may carry your wallet. There is a locker facility at the entrance which you may use. We left everything in our car before going though.

We went to Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple just before closing time. The bhajans were in full swing. We were just in time to see the Aarti. We had goosebumps at that time with the whole atmosphere 🙏

Everything was very organised starting from the entrance to the complete tour. The Mandir's people keeping your shoes or giving you locker won't ask for any specific amount to pay, they will say to pay according to your will. I really like that.

Sankat Mochan temple same with Durga temple? How much entrance fee for foreign tourist?
TIA

Chennai (Madras), India66 contributions
I don't think there is an entrance fee for both the temples. The temples aren't far from each other. At the Sankat Mochan temple you may pay a donation at the stands where they keep your bag and slippers. You may not be allowed to enter the Sanctum Sanctoum (inner core of the temple where the diety is) or take temple offerings (prasad) but you can still get pretty close.
Is this opens all the day or close for afternoon?
Amitabh_Telang
Varanasi, India91 contributions
Yes it remains close in afternoon from 12 noon to 4 pm. However close means you can not see the idol of Lord Hanuman as curtains are closed and there will be no priest to take your offering (prasad etc). But temple campus remains open. You can go, sit there, you may buy prasad, you may offer money in Danpeti etc.
